"Nope. My treat. We're going shopping," Lilah declared with a grin.
"Nope. My treat. We're going shopping," Lilah declared with a grin.
Cameron’s smile lingered on his face. “You don’t have to take me to do anything, Lilah.”
"But I want to! Shopping is fun, and I get to spend time with you," Lilah said, still grinning.
“Ahhh, very good reasons.” He smiled a little wider and nodded. “Alright. Sounds fun!”
"Perfect," Lilah said, gently squeezing Cameron's hands.
The waitress came back with their drinks and their food, and Lilah reluctantly let Cameron's hands go so that the plates could be set in front of them.
"There you are. Two bacon cheeseburgers, two fries, an Oreo milkshake, and a vanilla milkshake. Is there anything else I can get you, your highnesses?" she asked, smiling.
"That's all for me," Lilah said, shaking her head with a polite smile. "Thank you."
Cameron grinned politely up at the waitress. “No, that’s all for me. Thank you.” He bowed his head slightly.
"All right. If you need anything else, just let me know," the waitress said, turning to leave.
Lilah looked down at her food and smiled. "Mmmmm…"
Cameron nodded after her and gazed down at the food. Then was when he realized how hungry he was. He picked up the burger and took a wiff of it.
“Mmmm… smells amazing…”
"Definitely," Lilah agreed with a nod.
(Skip? To when they're done?)
(Yep!)
Cameron finished off his soda with a soft skirr from the straw. He set the cup down, and glanced at the milkshake.
“Should we get dessert?”
"That's what the milkshakes are for, goofball," Lilah chuckled as she sipped on hers.
Cameron picked up his. “But I saw cakes on the menu.” He smiled dreamly as he took a sip of his own at his milkshake.
"Cam…" Lilah sighed, shaking her head with a smile. "All right, fine. If you want a cake, you can get one. Just… get it to go so we can go swimming."
Cameron blinked at her and set the milkshake down with a gentle thump on the rickety tabletop. “No! I won’t get a cake if you don’t want it.”
"It's not that I don't want one, it's just that I want to swim," Lilah explained calmly.
Cameron took a beat to feel bad.
“R-right. Sorry.” He gave her an apologetic look and lifted up the shake again
"Oh, you don't have to apologize!" Lilah clarified, giving him a small smile. "Seriously, you can get cake and just bring it. Then you can eat it whenever you want."
Cameron gave a slight smile back. “Alright. I-um…” He paused, realizing he was about to apologize again.
Lilah shook her head, still smiling as she sipped on her milkshake.
The waitress came to their table, hands clasped around her notepad and pen. "How is everything? Is there anything else you'd like?"
Cameron looked up as she approached, setting down his milkshake.
“It was wonderful, thank you. We’ll have a strawberry shortcake (an entire one) to go, please.”
"A strawberry shortcake? Sure, no problem. Whole or a slice?" the waitress asked, glancing up with her polite smile.
“Whole, please,” Cameron politely responded.
Lilah looked at Cameron across the table and blinked. He seriously wanted a whole cake?
"Alrighty, then. I'll be right back with that," the waitress said as she jotted it down and went back to the kitchen again.
“Thank you.”
Cameron looked at Lilah again, grinning at her expression. “What?”
"Are you seriously going to eat an entire cake by yourself?" Lilah asked, raising an eyebrow.
“I thought you wanted some!” Cameron exclaimed with a grin.
"I do, but I thought you were just getting it for yourself," Lilah admitted with a chuckle.
“Well now it’s a win-win.” Cameron beamed happily.
"Great! Cake is awesome!" Lilah exclaimed.
Cameron laughed happily. “It is! It’s so great!”
