Cameron shrugged. “What face?” He glanced at her.
Cameron shrugged. “What face?” He glanced at her.
"The frown. Your frowny face," Lilah said, looking up at him.
Cameron wanted to grin at her childishness but found he could not. What’s wrong with me?
In response to Lilah, he shrugged again.
Lilah walked around to Cameron's front and gently grabbed his arms.
"What is it?" she asked quietly.
Cameron glanced away from her. “Nothing.” It didn’t feel right to lie to her, but why was he lying?
Lily wiggled in Cameron’s arms, borking at Lilah for her sudden appearance.
Lilah absentmindedly rubbed the puppy's head.
"If you're sure," she murmured to Cameron, letting go of him and stepping away. She wasn't mad at him, more disappointed.
Lily barked louder, which stirred Cameron.
“I’m sorry, Lilah.” He looked at her, his wide eyes doleful and sad.
Lilah shrugged. "It's fine. I mean, if you felt like you wanted to share, you would. I won't make you."
Cameron reached a hand out to put on her shoulder, then hesitated.
She’d just throw it off. There’s no point…
Why doesn't he want to tell me? Okay, I get that we haven't really been together that long, but doesn't he trust me?
Lilah sighed and wrapped her arms around herself.
Cameron bit his lip and put his hand on her shoulder, careful to keep it light, in case she indeed did toss it off.
He didn’t want to sound like a child, but the question he asked very much was child-like, “Do you really want to know?”
Lilah shrugged. "If you want to tell me, that's fine. If not, it's whatever."
Lily borked a couple times as the wide double doors opened in the front corridor. Lily wriggled out of Cameron’s grasp and fumbled down the steps.
Cameron’s hand tensed on Lilah’s shoulder, as did his features into fear as he looked down the steps.
“Da**… they’re home early…”
Lilah looked over her shoulder, then to Cameron. "Would led they notice if we hurried to your room?"
“No, Lily’ll distract them. Come on.” He kept his hand firmly on her shoulder as they quietly jogged up the steps and to the room on the far right of the long light-blue hallway.
Walking into that room was like a refreshing step back into Cameron’s personality. Wrappers of candy, empty bags of chips and 2 liter gallon sodas and lemonaids stood empty on tables. Cameron’s bed was a large waterbed (of course), there were pictures on the walls, mainly of fish, insects and small mamalls. The room was overall dressed in the light blue, but it was painfully clashed with Cameron’s bedspread of bright green. This was probably intentional.
Lilah raised an eyebrow as she stepped into Cameron's room. She had definitely stepped into a bachelor's room.
"Wow," she said simply.
(That was painfully accurate my godddddd yessss. Instead of giving all of that i could’ve been like, “Yep, he’s definitely hasn’t had a girlfriend/lover before.”)
Cameron rolled his shoulders back and gently shut the door. “Yeah. When I said clean, I meant this.” He gestured. “Well, Lily upset my trash can, that’s why the… wrappers n’ stuff are on the ground…” He pointed to a quaint little green trashcan on its side, its contents everywhere.
"Ah. I see…" Lilah said as she looked around the room. "Well, it's certainly… Unique."
Cameron mumbled something and straightened up a little. “So… yeah. I dunno, it’s my room, so… it’s home.” He offered a slight weak smile.
Lilah smiled back at Cameron. "Yeah. Bedrooms are the best. You get to make them into whatever you want."
Cameron glanced at the pictures on the wall, the grin lingering on his face. “Yeah, it’s really fun. I didn’t do much, but collecting these pictures was really great.” He tilted his head at Lilah. “Do you collect anything?”
"They're amazing pictures," Lilah agreed, looking at them. "I… kind of collect… old clothes?"
Cameron raised an eyebrow in curiosity. “Oh? How come? For memoriam orrr do you like the way they were made?”
Lilah shrugged, avoiding Cameron's eyes as she mumbled her reply. "They just look cool."
Cameron realized he crossed some invisable line between them and took his hand off of her shoulder. He nodded awkwardly and glanced away from her.
“Cool. It must be fun.”
Lilah was still blushing. She didn't really talk about her collection, it was embarrassing and people usually thought she was weird for it.
"It is," she murmured.
Cameron put his hands in his pockets, clearing his throat in hopes it’d help with the awkwardness. However, someone calling his name surely did.
“CAMERON! GET DOWN HERE!” Screamed a woman’s voice.
Cameron started and looked at Lilah. “Stay here, okay?” He opened his door.
Lilah raised her eyebrows at the shout and nodded. "Okay," she said, sitting down in the edge of Cam's bed.
Cameron slipped outside and went downstairs, leaving Lilah in his room. She heard nothing of the conversation.
Eventually, about 10-15 minutes (sorry for the generalization), Cameron slipped back into the room with a wriggling Lily in his arms. She was borking and happily reaching for his face as Cameron looked distinctly put-off and upset.
"Hey," Lilah greeted him softly, giving him a gentle smile. "You okay?"
