Kate walked into her classroom and two friends messing with each other. One punched the other and the both laughed. She laughed and looked at the ground. She began to walk to her seat when she bumped into someone. She looked up and saw one of the boys from before. "Sorry," he said. "It's okay," she replied with a smile. "I'm Kate."
"Xavier." His friend elbowed him. He smiled at Ty and hit him back harder. "I haven't seen you around before, are you new?" Or maybe he just didn't pay attention, he did have problems with that. Her friends behind her just giggled to each other. Ty slipped by both Kate and Xavier and went to talk to her friends. Seriously Ty?
She shrugged. "Fairly." His friend stepped past to get to my friends Beth and Samantha. When he passed me he whispered, "Go easy, okay?" and he was out of her vision. She looked up in Xavier's eyes. they were really different colors. "I love your eyes." She smiled to ensure the happy, young mood.
"Oh, Thank you." Sometimes he forgot he had different colored eyes most people don't mention it because they have gotten used to it. "Sorry about my friend, hes kind of a flirt." Xavier ran his hand through his hair. "Even if I tell him to stop he won't." He glared back at him, and Shrugged in response.
"You're so very welcome, and it's just fine,' she said with a chuckle. "We are in high school, I think he has a right." The bell rang and students began to shuffle in, not wanting to leave their friends in the hall, but also not wanting to be late. "Well, it was nice meeting you, Xavier. You seem like a cool guy to hang out with." She smiled and she could feel her dimples showing. She tried her best to hide them.
"Don't hide your smile, it's cute." He gave her a two fingered salute and walking backwards. "See you around." He turned on his heel, while grabbing Ty by the collar and dragging him along. "Come on, I was hitting it off." Xavier rolled his eyes. "Let's go."
As he walked off, her smile widened and the butterflies awoke in her stomach. She barely managed to get out a 'Goodbye" as took his friend away from hers. She walked to her desk where her friends were. "That Ty dude is super cute," Beth sighed, looking off in their direction. Kate just laughed as Samantha shook her head with disgust. Sam adjusted her beanie and sat down in the seat in front of Beth, Kate to the right. The teacher walked in and began the daily lecture. But Kate couldn't hear. There was a sweet ringing in her ear as she drifted off into her thoughts.
"You and Kate seemed to hit it off." Ty moved around to his desk next to Xavier's. "We just met Ty." Xavier laughed. The teacher walked in as soon as Ty was about to continue their conversation. "Alraight, every you ready?" Xavier's eyes wandered outside. His seat was next to the window and he liked it. Great views and something to look at when he wasn't paying attention.
Kate snapped back to reality as Sam punched her in the arm. "Hmm?" She pointed to the teacher. He was looking at her with every judgement in the world at the tip of his tongue. "Are you here, Miss Jackson?" She looked down to hide her embarrassment. "Yes, I'm here." He eased back. "I want to make it clear. In this class, no slacking off. Understood?" the whole class offered up a monotone "Yessir." She glanced at Xavier to see his response. He was smiling out the window. Not paying attention. Dooming himself. "Xavier James?" He called.
Automatically his eyes moved over to the teacher. "Hm?" He didn't know what was going on at all. Looking past the teacher he did see something written on the board. "Was I supposed to answer that?" He pointed in that direction. The teacher glared at him and his face was a red. "You need to pay attention." Was that it? He turned on his heels and walked back to the front of class. Once he was in front of the class he didn't say anything and just looked at Xavier. "Ah, yes Sir."
Kate released the tension and air she kept inside, just now aware she was holding her breath. Her chest ached for air. The teacher continued down the list. She looked over to Xavier. He was looking to. She smiled at him and chuckled softly.
When Mr. Harrison turned to face the board, Xavier let out a sigh and laid on his desk. "That was stressful." Laughter came from next to him. "Maybe if you paid attention, you wouldn't get in trouble." Ty was right, he should start listening.
Blue rushed in late, bruises apparent on his upper arm. He should’ve wore longer sleeves… He nearly sprinted to his locker, then sprinted to his class. Gosh he was so late… Blue opened Mr. Harrison’s room door a quietly as possible, keeping his head down. He could feel the eyes watching him. He sat down in the only empty seat. He felt like crying, not only because of his father this morning. Blue, ashamed, glanced up at the teacher. Mr. Harrison glared down at him.
“And who are you?” Blue shrunk in his seat. He replied, but it was too quiet to hear, “Speak up.” Blue wanted to shrink smaller.
“I- I’m- I am a new student. Uh, Blue Le’Dan,” He let his blue hair fall in his eyes as he glued them to the floor.
“Don’t be late again, Blue. I’ll give you a break today because your new to the district, but next time you’ll have to stay after class,” Mr. Harrison went back to the board.
Kate watched Blue as he seemed to shrink I the seat beside her. She took out a piece paper and began to write. Hey! I'm Kate! Don't worry. Mr.Harrison just gets stressed sometimes. She put a little smiley face and silently passed it to Blue.
Blue looked at the paper and read it. His eyes met Kate’s for a brief moment, but he was too shy to hold the look, but he still made sure to made a small smile at her. He wrote in the paper: Thank you, I’m Blue. Then he passed it back.
She read it and smiled. An idea came to her head. Hey, she wrote, do you wanna eat lunch with me and my friends? I could use another friend. She had to squeeze her writing down to make it fit, making is almost unreadable. Hopefully he could read it. She passed it back, making sure that Mr.Harrison's back was turned.
Blue read it and he couldn’t help the tiniest smile that appeared on his face. He made eye contact with her for a second before incognito-ly nodding to her.
Xavier watched as Blue and Kate were passing notes. He was too far to do that, and would definitely get caught. He head still on his desk he sighed. Wait, why am I sighing? Ty copied Xavier position and grinned. Xavier knew exactly what he was thinking. "You know if you stare to long she'll notice. That's right. He eyes quickly looked away so she wouldn't notice, if she already hasn't.

The bell rang, sending a flood through the halls. The next few classes flew by until it was lunch. Kate was already with Beth and Sam, all they had to do was find Blue. "You'd think that blue hair would be easy to spot out in a crowd," Beth said, turning all around in search of the blue-haired-silence. "I'm so huuuunnnnggrryyy," Sam complained, suddenly grabbing Kate by the shoulders and shaking her. "Okay, okay. You and Beth go get food, and I'll wait for Blue." Sam sighed and pulled Beth into the lunch line. Kate just stood by the ten foot window with the sun at her back searching.
Blue entered the lunchroom, looking around for Kate. Maybe she was in line…? Blue’s eyes skimmed the line, but couldn’t find her. He started to slowly wander around aimlessly.
Xavier and Ty walked out of the classroom and Ty was talking about some dumb guy that tried to start a fight with him. "Mhm, sure." Xavier just nodded his head with what Ty was saying. "You're not even listening. You got it worse then I do man!" He wasn't thinking about Kate or was he? He didn't even remember anymore. "Drop it okay, I've only just met the girl this morning." A hand landed on his cheek and pinched it. "But , she caught your eye."
Kate walked through the mass of kids. "Sorry," she said to every kid she bumped into. Which was everyone. By the time she got to the other side of the room, she was out of breath. She looked around. There! He was walking around looking from side to side. She ran up to him and grabbed him by the shoulder. "Hey," she said, now out of more breath.
Blue jumped at the unexpected hand, but he smiled when he saw it was Kate, “Hi,” Blue noticed her heavy breathing and remarked, “You look tired.”
Xavier and Ty had a hard time getting through the crowds of people. "Well see ya." Ty smiled and disappeared. "Wait!" Why did he just leave like that? Then he saw it. Flirting with Sam and Beth again. Of course. Xavier got in line for food and it was taking forever for the line to move.
She chuckled, not too much fearing to increase the current ache in her chest. She closed her eyes. "That I am, she said, shaking her head. "I guess I forgot to take my- umm," she took a second to breathe, "my meds. Yeah. I'll be fine though. Let's get some food, yeah?"
Concern washed over Blue’s face, “Are you sure? If you need medicine I donut mind, I can even walk you to your,” Blue realized he didn’t know where her meds were located, “Um, the place your meds are.”
She smiled at the ground. "No, I don't bring them here. My mom didn't fill out the paperwork. It's no biggie. I do appreciate your concern." She started towards the lunch line. Hey, that's… She looked around, butterflies trying to take flight. He should be near…
