A tray was slammed down on the table and Kate's friend's and Ty all jumped. "Hi, Ty." Xavier had a smile on his face, but Ty knew he was mad. "Hey, listen man I'm sorry okay." Ty slid over so to make room for Xavier to sit. "Sorry about that." He apologized to the girls that sat in front of him.
Blue followed to the lunch line, looking at the lunch room. It was bigger than his old school’s.
Blue rubbed his shoulder. The bruises ached. He was glad no one could see the other ones. He glanced at his arm. The dark greyish-purple spots were peaking out of his sleeve.
Not finding him, she continued with Blue through the food line, slowly catching her breath. Her friends left to go sit at a table, both distracted by Ty. They continued through the line with her just rambling about nothing in particular while he just smiled, or tried to. Sometimes he'd just look to the side… As they made it out of the line, she spotted her friends. "There." she pointed to the table. It wasn't until they were about five feet away when she noticed Xavier was sitting at the table next to Ty. "Oh, Xavier. Hi!"
Blue sat down, trying to take a little space as possible at the table, so his plate was halfway off it. He took a small bite of the food, but mostly poked and prodded at it. He never really ate that much anyways.
"Hi." He gave her a small wave and smile. Then he glared at Ty, it was easy to tell what he was thinking and he hoped as that Ty would keep his shut. Xavier noticed a guy next to Kate. It was the blue haired guy that lasted notes to Kate. "Hello, I'm Xavier." He held out a hand for the boy.
Blue nervously shook it, but then made a small smile, “I’m Blue. Nice to meet you.”
"So, Blue, how do you like it here?" Kate asked, trying to soothe the tension, which she wasn't sure where it was based just that it was there. She ate a bite of pizza, trying not to be a complete mess.
“It’s nice,” Blue mused, “A bit cold, but I’m always chilled. The school is a lot bigger.” Blue remarked as he pushed at his food, forcing himself to take another bite. His free hand was massaging his aching ribs.
Xavier tried hard not to look at Kate, instead her just looked at Blue paying attention to his responses to the questions he was being asked.
She glanced at Xavier, hoping his eyes were trying to find her. She tried not to show the sadness when she saw they weren't. "Well, if you ever get too cold, I normally carry around an extra sweatshirt. these yahoos," pointing at Sam and Beth, "Never bring theirs. That's normally though. Not today. I'm a little forgetful today." She sighed slightly.
Blue made an appreciative smile, “Thank you anyways though. You’re really nice,” Blue broke eye contact. He could never seem to actually hold it, “Thank you for inviting me here too.”
"I try to be." She noticed he broke eye contact. "But don't worry. This isn't a one time thing." She smiled wide, dimples showing. She pulled it back just a little. "I think you'd make a pretty great friend Blue. What do ya say? I've always wanted a bigger good friend group."
"We should all hangout together after school." Ty finally decided to jump into the conversation. Which broke Xavier's concentration, he looked at Ty thinking it was a good idea, but when he turned back his eyes naturally went to Kate. "I think its a good idea!" Thank you Ty.
"Yeah, I can't technically be home until a little later, so that'd be great!" I really need to hold my tongue, Kate thought. "There's this pretty cool run down amusement park not too far from here, if you want."
Ty looked at both Sam and Beth. Xavier was pretty sure he just couldn't choose between the two of them. "Are you two in?" Xavier didn't pay much attention to them, but what Kate had just said. She couldn't be home till later? What does that even me?
"Wait, wasn't your mom going to, you know," Beth said. Oh, Beth. Shut up! She gave her a look that told her to stop. She couldn't see. "Weren't you going to-" Kate heard a faint thud from what she guessed was Sam giving Beth a "shut up" nudge. It worked. they both answered "Yes" with a smile, trying to hide what had just happened. "Anyway," Kate said, "I think it's pretty cool there's a few rides and they have really good ice cream."
Now he knew something was going on. Even Ty gave him a questioning look, but just shrugged. "I've always liked amusement parks, run down or not." Xavier finally said something after the longest time.
"Great," Kate said, glad no one had questioned further. "Let's meet by the flagpole after school. Sound good?"
“That sounds fun,” Blue said with a smile. Anything to stay away from the house, from his father. Blue finally decided he couldn’t finish the rest of his meal, which was barely touched, “Do any of you want the rest of this?”
Ty quickly grabbed the plate and pulled it his way. "Dont mind if I do." Xavier gave him a look. How rude can this guy get? He questioned how he was friends with him. Nerves were starting to take over the longer Xavier sat here. He wanted to say something to Kate but wasn't sure what to talk about.
"Are you not hungry?" asked Kate. She noticed he hadn't touched it much. That and he was already pretty slim…
“Not really,” Blue replied, per usual. He wrung his hand’s in his lap as he looked away.
"Well, here." She pulled out a plastic bag and handed it to him. "If you get hungry later." "You have literally everything in your backpack," Sam commented. "That I do."
//I have to go to bed sorry if you guys wanna continue without me or start back up again at the flagpole tomorrow I don't mind either but I do have to go, night ;)
(I think I'll just wait.)
(Night! I’ll headed there too soon)
Blue took it to be polite, but doubted he’d actually eat it, “Thank you.” Blue turned his head to look out the window, just so his mind could wander for a spell. He found himself thinking of blue hair and starry markings (cough @"The Grammar Queen" cough), which was weird, but Blue couldn’t question his own mind.
//Morning, I'm here whenever you guys are ready
//I'm just going to make sure this doesn't drown, and then whenever the others arrive we can start again
Chicago walked out of if her house, into the street. She was supposed to be meeting a friend at the flagpole, but she observed that a boy was already there. Slightly angry, she walked over to him and decided to try to sort out what was going on.
