“Hey, honey,” Bob called as he opened the door to his single-family home. “I’m home!” He set his bag down by the front door and loosened his suffocatingly tight tie, shutting the door behind him.
Lucas was sitting at the kitchen table, attempting to do his homework and growing increasingly frustrated as he did so. He tapped his pencil on the table in irritation, the paper already beginning to singe on the edges.
Evaline called from the kitchen, "In here!" She was currently struggling to make sure that she didn't burn the food as she tried to help Lucas with his homework, at which both she was failing miserably.
Damion shakily walked across the floor into the kitchen and tugged in the end of his mother’s pants, holding his hands up in the air, asking to be picked up.
Evaline smiled and leaned over, picking up her youngest son. "Hey Damion."
Bob walked into the kitchen and kissed his wife on the cheek. He looked over at his oldest son and asked him, “How was your day, Lucas?”
"School was fine, the homework sucks." Lucas gripped his pencil tightly, the wood of it smoking faintly. "When am I ever gonna need this anyways?"
“Mama!” Damion’s voice was more of a squeak then anything, along with the small laugh that followed. He then made a small frown and started to play with Evaline’s necklace.
Evaline smiled as Damion played with her necklace.
“Trust me, you’d be surprised,” Bob chuckled. He turned to his wife. “How was your day, Eva?”
"…….Decent." Evaline replied. "I'm having some technical problems with my computer though so I didn't get much work done."
“Want me to take a look?” Bob asked, swiping a piece of strawberry from the counter.
"Sure." Evaline answered.
“Got it.” Bob smiled. He looked over at Lucas. “Want to help me?”
"Hmm? Help you do what?" Lucas looked up.
