“Fix mum’s computer.”

"Oh, um, sure. Anything's better than this…" Lucas pushed away his paper and got up.

Bob chuckled. “That’s why I asked.”

"Where's mum's computer anyways?" Lucas stretched, throwing his paper a bitter look.

“In the office, I think,” Bob said. He started walking in that direction. “Let’s go.”

"Okay." He followed his father quietly until they reached the office. Lucas pushed the door open and entered, quickly finding the computer and walking over to it.

“Alrighty. Mom said she couldn’t get it to turn on…” Bob flipped open the computer and pressed the ‘on/off’ button. “Let’s see if it’ll work for us.”

"Maybe it needs a new battery? That's how we get the tv remote to work." Lucas shrugged, pressing the button again when it didn't work.

“Huh. That’s an idea…” Bob played with the ‘space’ key. “To be honest, I think we might just need a new computer. This thing is thirteen years old.”

"That thing's older than I am…" Lucas tapped the screen impatiently. "Do computers even have batteries?"

“I dunno,” Bob shrugged. “I’m pretty sure… cause you have to charge them, right?”

"I guess so… do they take double or triple a's?"

“Doesn’t triple have more… battery stuff… in it?” Bob asked wonderingly, scratching his head.

(Bc double and triple a are the only kind of batteries lol)
"We should probably call a professional, dad. We're just gonna make it worse."

“Good idea,” Bob nodded. “I will google it.”

"Alright." Lucas sat down and spun himself around in the office chair while he waited.

Bob pulled out his phone and googled ‘computer workers’. “Found one!”

"Who?" He stood up, swaying a bit from dizziness.

“His name is Jeoffrey Cameron,” Bob read. “I can schedule an appointment….”

"For when? Can he get here soon? Does he have the battery thingy?"

Bob squinted at the screen. “Tonight, eight o’clock. I think so…”

"What time is it now?" Lucas glanced over at the clock, which also wasn't working. He was tired, so he assumed it was fairly late.

“Seven thirty. We should probably schedule for tomorrow…”

"Nah, if he can get here in half an hour, all the better. Right?"

Kaly opened the front door and slipped in, hurrying up the stairs.

Evaline raised her eywbrow, sporting her oldest run up the stairs. "Kaly!" She called.

Lucas heard footsteps and opened the door, almost getting bowled over by Kaly as she ran by. "Woah! Kaly, wa- what's wrong? Are you okay?" He followed her after steadying himself.

Kaly froze, hearing her mother's voice from the kitchen. "Yeah, Mom?" She looked at Lucas and added, "I'm fine."
