"Sure. Explore the town a bit while we're shopping." Charlie agreed. "And we can look if there's anything you'd like… maybe some new clothes better suited for traveling?" she suggested, unsure of the overall state of Irae's clothes after everything she'd been through.
Irae nodded. "I only really have the one set, so that would be much appreciated." She said, looking down at her own clothes. "And my own cloak so we can return the mages back to her."
“Sure. We can go clothes shopping first, then restock medical supplies with her as we return the cloak.” Charlie smiled as the server swung by to drop off their tea.
Irae nodded, turning to the server. "Thank you." She said, trying a sip of the tea. (I don't drink non-herbal tea so I have no idea if she would like it-)
(I don't really drink a lot of tea either, but I wasn't sure if a D&D world would have coffee so… plus Charlie is totally a tea drinking person)
Charlie sighed softly as she picked up the warm cup and breathed in the familiar aroma. “This always wakes me up.” she whispered more to herself than anyone else.
Irae nodded, taking another sip of her tea. "It's alright.." she said, setting the cup down. "Not bad. I don't know if I love it, but I think I like it fine." She said.
(I feel like Irae would be a peppermint tea person)
“Ok.” Charlie shrugged. “Not everyone is a green tea fan. There is a lot of different types and flavors available, depending on what’s used to make it, so if you want to try one of those sometime… maybe you’ll like one of those better.” she assured.
Irae nodded. "Alright. Do you like green tea a lot?" She asked. "Is it a favorite of yours?" She took another sip of her tea, leaning her arm against the table.
“I don't know if I’d call it a favorite but I think it's good.” Charlie shrugged. “It helps me wake up in the mornings. Especially when I'm either having a hard time waking up or just not had enough sleep.”
Irae nodded. "Ah. It has a quicker energy source. That's cool. And the food you ordered? The pan fried toast? You said that was sweet?"
“Mhm.” Charlie nodded as she took another sip. “It's delicious. It's actually kind of a mix between sweet and savory depending on how it’s made. But the bread has a beautiful crispiness on the outside from being fried while the inside is still soft.” she smiled.
(sorry for my poor attempt at describing French toast)
(haha all good)
Irae hmmed softly. "That sounds interesting, I would like to try it." She said, thinking about it. "And the one you ordered for me?"
“Bacon and eggs? It's a classic breakfast.” Charlie shrugged. “Almost everyone likes it. Depending on the place, it usually comes with toast and sometimes jam. It's a very savory meal.” she explained.
Irae nodded. "Alright. That sounds good then. How long does it usually take?" She asked curiously. She didn't sound impatient, just curious.
“Should be soon. I never really timed how long it takes places to bring out food after you give them your order.” Charlie admitted with a soft chuckle.
Irae nodded. "But it's usually pretty quick?" She asked. "Unless it's really busy, I'm sure." She took another sip of her tea.
“Or if you make a special order.” Charlie nodded. “Otherwise it's a pretty reasonable amount of time.”
Irae nodded. "That makes sense. And we didn't have any special orders?" She asked, confirming.
“I don't think so.” Charlie shrugged. “Unless mine was… but I don't think it was, otherwise the server would have said something, right?” she hummed thoughtfully.
Irae shrugged. "I would have no idea. I am new to.. all of this, really." She said, looking towards where the server had gone.
“Of course,” Charlie chuckled. “I was just thinking out loud.”
Almost as if summoned by Irae’s gaze, the server finally emerged and headed over to their table with their meals.
Irae nodded to him. "Thank you" she said quietly. She turned to Charlie, looking at both the plates, and taking a bite of the eggs.
Charlie smiled brightly as the server set the plates down before leaving. “What do you think?” she asked as Irae tried her eggs and started cutting a piece of her fried toast.
Irae shrugged. "It's good? It's not mind-blowingly amazing, but I don't dislike eating it." She said, trying the bacon. She looked at it. "This is better. This is the bacon?" She asked.
“That's fair. Besides, that’s only one way to cook eggs. There’s dozens of other ways to try them.” Charlie reminded, taking note of Irae’s preferences. “Here. Try a bite of this. See if you like it.” she said as she placed the cut piece of her toast on edge of Irae’s plate.
Irae took a bite and nodded slowly. "I do. It might be better than the bacon-" She said, eating the rest. "Thank you."
Charlie nodded, eating calmly. “Told you it was good.” she couldn't help smirking. “You don't need to thank me though. Not for introducing you to new foods.”
Irae shrugged. "For spending money on more expensive foods then I need." She clarified.
(Heading to airplane)
“Rae, this isn't that expensive.” Charlie said gently. “Ok, maybe mine is slightly compared to the other options here. But these kinds of places are made to be generally affordable for everyone… with maybe a few exceptions.” she explained. “The expensive places are made specifically for nobility and the well-off. You’ll know that area when you see it.” she frowned distastefully.
