Squid quietly looks down at his books that he had carried to the classroom, don't ask him why but he thinks that he left his schedule in there? He just thought that he'd find it whenever he needed it, and sure enough he kindof needs it right now. He glances up at Ena eventually, "Oh..uh, yeah, hi- names Squid if you didn't catch it already.."

Squid just goes back to looking through his books, sighing quietly. He would keep talking but he doesn't know what to talk about, and he's just bad at talking. The only people he'd be comfortable talking to are Sera and Jules, since he's already talked to them a decent amount.

@heeey-bitchhhhhhhhhhh

Ena glanced at Squid, still seeming to be as happy as she had been the entire morning. Her bright smile had yet to fade away, everything she was doing fueled by excitement and her passion for magic. She could always be energetic, but it wasn't typically the only thing about her.

"Nice to meet you!" she beamed. "And sorry if I'm making you uncomfortable with the yelling or something. I'm just really excited, that's all! If that's all you wanted to say, that's fine! I'll just quietly draw!"

She seemed to be rather happy, so it was obvious that she wasn't upset or anything. She was full of energy and enjoyed multitasking as it was. Besides, she wanted to make some art for her classmates since she thought it would be a nice thing to do.

@Anxietyfilledcinnamonroll group

Jules continued to smile at everyone. He kept his excitement to himself most of the time. "Ena, it's a pleasure to meet you. You should show us your locker at some point." He began to glow faintly, just a rush of blood caused by nervous excitement. "I think we're going to get into a lot of trouble this year." He wasn't psychic, but he had a sneaking suspicion that they were going to break school rules. He shook off the feeling, though. One of Squid's books had a small corner sticking out, which Jules noticed. He yanked on it, and there it was: Squid's schedule. "It was hidden in one of your books." He handed Squid the paper. He was curious as to what all of the people in this room could do in terms of magic. Jules epitomized the phrase "curiosity killed the cat." He had a bit of Murphy's law to him. No matter how hard he tried to stay out of trouble, it seemed to find him and the people around him. He promised himself that this year he would be more cautious; after all, he couldn't afford to be expelled. Jules tried hard to be a nice and helpful person, and his soft voice and upbeat demeanor revealed who he was. Murphy's law, on the other hand, was a curse.

Jules took a careful look at Ena's drawing, taking care not to overwhelm her. "Could you show me what you're drawing when you're done?" He inquired. He was curious as to when the bell would ring and what history would entail. After all, his home studies were all about magic and nothing else. Jules' only other skill was his knowledge of first aid. Jules desired to improve his magical abilities. He was well aware that light magic as a whole could go a long way. From using light as a weapon to very minor healing, the possibilities were endless.

@heeey-bitchhhhhhhhhhh

(Yeah, sorry for the lack of detail. This is a quick reply before I head offline for the night. Be back tomorrow when in the car! (going on vacation))

Ena nodded in response to the question. "Of course! One of my moms actually taught me how to draw and stuff! The other taught me most of my magic stuff!" she beamed. "That aside, I really don't mind! I love showing my friends some drawings! Also, I can show you guys my locker! I have some of my completed drawings hanging in it, a pic of my moms and me, and a bunch of decals! I spent most of my time decorating!"

@Pizzaz11 group

Squid blinks a few times before taking the paper from Jules, he wasn't exactly expecting that- he smiles a little, "Oh, thanks." Squid takes a look at his schedule once he has it, staying quiet for a moment or two before finally muttering, "Oh, I do have history next.."

Squid puts his schedule down after looking it over, looking over at Ena. He nods quietly, he's definitely interested in seeing the others drawings and art. Hes never been the best at art but he loves looking at it, it just interests him how many things can be done with just one medium. "..that sounds cool.."

@heeey-bitchhhhhhhhhhh

Ena looked at Squid and smiled a bit. "If you're interested in art, it definitely is! It's nice to see you guys having an interest in my art! That's gonna work out quite well!" she replied with a smile, hinting that she was going to make some art for everyone. "Well, I'll be working on some new drawings, but if anyone still wants to chat, I can draw and chat!"

She grabbed her sketchbook before going back and facing the others. She would occasionally glance up at them before going back to her art. She could momentarily continue her art without looking at her sketchbook, showing that it would be fairly easy for her to maintain a conversation with someone and work on her art for them as well.

Jules was at a loss for what to do with himself now that he had become addicted to the Murphy's law theory. Maybe he was cursed…now that was a ridiculous thought. But it was possible that it was true… When Ena spoke, he snapped back to reality. His eyes were glossy for a brief moment. "Wow, that's fantastic! Only magic was taught to me by my parents. Well, by my father. But that's phenomenal. You'll have to show it to me!" He smiled as he leaned over his chair to watch Ena. "I'd like to see your locker as well!" He shifted his attention to the sound of Squid's voice. "Of course! It appears that the majority of us will be in history next!" Jules returned to being inside his head. What was there in the woods that they couldn't explore on their own? Was it possible that it could kill them? Maybe. His curiosity was killing him, but being the goody-two-shoes that he was, he decided to ignore it. Perhaps it wouldn't lead him down the wrong path. Keep him away from the wrath of Murphy's law. And everyone he came into contact with… Jules was preoccupied with the many scenarios that could go wrong in his head, so he didn't pay attention to Ena and Squid's conversation. “Err!” Jules slapped his hand over his mouth, inadvertently releasing a sound of frustration.

@heeey-bitchhhhhhhhhhh

Ena glanced up at Jules, a bit confused by the sudden sound of frustration. She had heard his other comments on her art, her locker, and her past, but she found herself wondering what was bothering the other before she had a chance to respond to those comments. She momentarily looked at her sketchbook and her drawing once more, questioning if she should ask what was going on, as she barely knew him. She decided to at least ask if he was okay, not prying into what could be personal but still checking up on him.

"Hey, are you okay?" she asked softly as she raised her head to look at him again. "You don't need to say anything about what's bothering you, but you seem a bit frustrated, so I thought I'd see if you're okay."

Unlike with every other time where she had finished chatting with people, she didn't go back to her drawing after speaking. She continued to look at Jules, letting him know that he had her full attention for the time being. She just wanted to see if he was okay and cheer him up if that was required.

@Pizzaz11 group

Squid just nods at the exclamation from Jules, humming quietly as he puts the schedule back into his book. Afterwards he just sorts his books, setting them off to the side and looking down at his desk.

Squid glances up at Jules when he hears the sound, looking over at Ena before looking at Jules again. He just wants to know the same as Ena, he wasn't really expecting just a random noise out of nowhere. And Jules kindof looks distraught, so- Squid returns his gaze to the desk pretty soon though, he hates staring.

@Anxietyfilledcinnamonroll group

Nodding his head, Jules sighed. With all the potential trouble they could get into, he had become frustrated. "I'm alright… I've just made myself frustrated by going over scenarios in my head. There's no need to be concerned. However, thank you for your concern." He turned his head and 'blushed' a little as he felt Squid's gaze burn into him. To say the least, he was hot with embarrassment. "I apologize for the exclamation of frustration." In a sheepish gesture, Jules put his hand to his head. He felt like an idiot for not being able to control what came out of his mouth, but he assumed that sound expression was beyond one's control. They just occur. "In the future, you might hear more frustrated noises from me." He gave Ena a small smile, and his eyes had a slight white glow as a sunbeam hit them.

(For some reason, I like to think Jules would be able to do photosynthesis)

@Pizzaz11 group

(That would definitely make sense)

Squid just nods quietly, laughing a little to himself. He doesn't know why but he found Jules's final statement to be funny, don't ask him. Shifting in his seat a little he halfheartedly glances around the room, looking for like, a clock or something- he knows it must be after 8 am but he wants to know when exactly they're leaving for the next class, and how long he has until then. Eventually he gives up and looks at the others again, mostly Jules and Ena since they were the closest to him. Since it seemed like the previous conversation was over he just goes ahead and talks-

"..What Teacher Alfson said about the forest kinda interested me..even though it was vague-" He mumbles, he's definitely curious about what exactly is in that forest. He hopes he's not the only one with the same interest-

@Anxietyfilledcinnamonroll group

Jules was relieved that these people seemed to like him. It wasn't difficult in actuality, but it was a source of concern for Jules. Who could resist saying aww with a lovely smile as bright as the sun? He also considered how the first block bell had yet to ring. He checked his wristwatch to see what time it was. 8:03. Huh? His schedule said the first block began at 8:06, but he swears it was more than six minutes. He whispered to himself, "That's strange… it's like there's some time distortion…" Jules considered the phrase “time flies while you're having fun." That was most likely the cause.

At Squid's remark, Jules froze. "It piqued my interest. It was this that lead to me to my yelp of frustration. What could possibly happen in such wilderness that would necessitate the presence of a teacher? Then it got me thinking about "what could go wrong, will go wrong," and curses. And how deadly my curiosity is…" Now they know exactly what irritated him. “Sorry. In any case, I'd rather not poke the Phoenix and discover the truth."

@Pizzaz11 group

"..but what if the truth is something super interesting?" Squid mumbles, mostly to himself. He knows it's futile, the others probably wouldn't want to risk going in. And to be honest, he'd be too scared to go in alone. He'd have to have some pretty good incentive to even consider it. Eventually he comes to a conclusion.

"Hm..I guess I'd rather not get expelled for poking around.." Squid sighs, shrugging a little. Even if he were to say, just take a few steps into the forest and look around, how far is too far? Will he get in trouble just for being near it? Would they have an opportunity to go in later anyways, and he will have gone in prematurely? He's always had a true talent for letting his curiosity get the better of him, but perhaps self control is the key here. He can only imagine what's in there.

Cuji

"My mother says that there are evil creatures in the forest, creatures like gargoyles. Once you step into their territory, they hunt you down and feed you to their children." Sera looked around at her classmates to see their reaction, "That is of course rumors they heard when they were here, but there was also a rumor of a witch who went into the forest by himself and never returned. No one could find him." She paused for dramatic effect before continuing, "Apparently the only time you can enter is with Mrs. Carroll. She's obviously know to be the most powerful witch in Asura and she is easily able to ward off the gargoyles. Apparently the reasoning to enter the forest is to practice fighting against real monsters."

@Pizzaz11 group

Squid listens to Sera, staying quiet for a bit and glancing off to the side. Well that answers his question..now he definitely doesn't want to go in there, if he goes in with a teacher even then is debatable. Were those really rumors? Or were they all true? Just the thought of man-eating gargoyles and gone-without-a-trace witches definitely spooked him a little. He'll have a fun time trying to forget about that today. "..oh-"

He kindof wants to ask more but he doesn't know if there's really much else to know about when it comes to this, maybe there's only a few things Sera's mom's taught her-

@Anxietyfilledcinnamonroll group

With trepidation, Jules listened to Sera. Gargoyles that eat people, huh? Oh, it piqued his interest even more, but he had to remind himself that where danger lurked, death followed. He wasn't quite ready to die just yet. Since his offensive magic wasn't as good as his defensive magic, he'd have to stay away. He'd have no way of defending himself. He could create light constructs, but how could he use them? He wasn't particularly skilled with a weapon. "Someone who never came back after they went in…" He frowned. "I'm sorry for that poor person… if the rumor is true… the investigation must have been fascinating." Jules had yet to develop a passion for healing (No trauma yet). He wanted to learn more about magic and look into strange occurrences. He spent much of his childhood investigating secret passages with his siblings before their parents discovered them and used magic to seal the passage's doorways. He still had the same sense of awe, but that would soon change. His insatiable curiosity could be his eventual downfall, but his formative years would mold him into the sweet and gentle adult he would become. Even more so than he is at thirteen. (Foreshadowing! :)

"My parents didn't say much about this school to me, but I could tell they were hiding something. Some say my father got himself into a lot of trouble, despite the fact that he is now a rule-abiding and kind-hearted man. I'm curious if it was related to the forest." Jules' eyes twinkled, and the white specks glowed brightly. "Fighting real monsters…that sounds very dangerous." He wasn't stupid, but he was curious. He fought the urge to let his curiosity get the best of him and abandoned his risky plans. "Plus, I'm not sure I'm capable of fighting real monsters…" Jules' demeanor changed abruptly as he considered his magical abilities. That piqued curiosity quickly morphed into preeminent fear. He wasn't as daring as he made you believe. After all, people could easily manipulate him. Jules examined his wristwatch. "It's almost time for the bell to ring."

@Pizzaz11 group

"Mm..yeah, I mean what would I even do, splash them with some water?" Squid snorts quietly, looking over at Jules. He's just agreeing that he too probably wouldn't be good at fighting, at least not at the skill level he's at. Despite his parents rigorously training him night and day even before school, he still hardly passed by the entrance exam. If only water wasn't such a..passive thing, most the time. Sure you can drown people with it but it's also what gives things life, which is like, the opposite of what you want to do during combat. And he doubts that's going to change, he'd probably be more of a passive witch anyways. Yknow, healing, and stuff. (Squid you're terribly wrong, but i admire the child-like innocence you still possess.)

"Oh, really? I swear we just walked in.." Squid tilts his head, glancing at Jules's wristwatch as well. Of course he couldn't really read it, but it felt like time just went super fast as soon as they entered the classroom. Maybe that's just a thing that happens on the first day, I mean you don't do much on the first day anyways, right-

@Pizzaz11 group

(I was looking for specific powers for Squid and randomized it and everything, and I got polar opposites- literally healing and f-ing bloodbending, although idk if that'd be possible in this universe)

Cuji

(Anything is possible if its logistical. Water is a liquid and could be manipulated. However cause we’re young, I would prefer if we can work on forming these power, not just magically have them when we get super angry. Cause character delevopment is a beautiful thing and I love it)

@Pizzaz11 group

(Ofc ofc, I feel like Squid would naturally lean more towards healing anyways. Ofc he'd had to develop both powers, but would only heavily rely on the one, manipulating blood and liquids in a person's body is honestly scary-)

Cuji

(I want Sera to learn how to teleport using atmospheric electricity at some point. )

The bell rung, interrupting the students chatter.
"Time for history, yay." Although excited about learning, Sera was a little bummed about having her first lesson be history. Yeah history was fun and all and you could learn about your ancestors and elders of the land, Sera was super pumped for Elemental Training, which the second subject on her schedule. Sera was already above average for Elemental wielding and she couldn't wait to learn more so she could become the best of the best, like her parents. She had also heard many stories of the great Teresa Carroll, the greatest and most powerful witch in Asura.
Sera collected her books off her desk and waited for her classmates to join her in walking to the history classroom.

@Anxietyfilledcinnamonroll group

(I was thinking about weaknesses for Jules and I think if he can blind someone with his powers, he could burn his retinas too if he wasn't careful. Maybe half of light elements are blind because of this, or maybe only if it happens at a young age. Like their retinas become immune to damage as they age. Ideas)

Jules smiled as he blinked at Squid's joke. He stood up and closed his satchel tightly. After the bell had stopped, it rung in his ears, reverberating around his head. Sound was sensitive to him, but light didn't bother him. He was uninterested in the history of his world or the next class because he was afraid he would embarrass himself. He accidentally brushed up against Sera, pulling his hand away as the two exchanged static shocks. It felt like there was an electric charge around her all the time, but he knew it was just a small transfer from some material. Jules let out a sigh. "History appears to be alright.." Nothing involving magic, but that was okay. He wasn’t in any rush. Yes, he wanted to improve his skill and work hard to do so, but the fear of making a mistake lingered in his mind. His parents, as they always were, would be proud of him. Whatever the case may be. That's what he was told. He stood near Sera, a little bleary-eyed as he watched the others pack up their belongings, lost in thought. It seemed to happen frequently to him, but when he snapped out of it, his energy returned.

Cuji

Jules accidentally brushed up against Sera and she noticed him rush away as she shocked him. She was used to the feeling as she had shocked many people before.
She smirked at him, “Looks like we have a spark.”

@Pizzaz11 group

(Ik this is stupid and hardly power related but when he starts using his powers more Squids fingers would perpetually be wrinkly, like what happens in baths. I don't make the rules-)

Squid hums quietly as he gathers up his books and water else he had brought, standing up out of his desk. He glances over at Sera, wow that's a shitty joke- he smiles a little to himself as he stands there for a minute, before slowly meandering towards the classroom door. He doesn't want to be late for history, despite the fact that he doesn't really like history. He can make himself sit through it and learn but hes not enjoying one bit of it. Which sucks because his mom has a huge thing for history-

@Anxietyfilledcinnamonroll group

Jules blinked a few times, frozen while trying to comprehend what Sera had just said. He "blushes" slightly in embarrassment and takes a small step back to avoid being shocked again. He wasn't prepared for that string of words to come out of her mouth, and he wasn't sure what to do. He inhaled deeply and tightened his grip on his satchel's strap. Jules, on the other hand, was dreading going to History. He decided it would be worthwhile to give it a shot anyway. He trailed Squid to the classroom door, lingering close to him. He gave Squid a sweet smile while keeping a close eye on Sera, his cheeks glowing slightly. Squid provided him with a sense of security, owing to the fact that he had known and spoken with him the longest. If one thought 12 minutes was a long time.

@Pizzaz11 group

Squid glances back at Jules, returning the others smile with one of his own. He would say how nice the others smile is but that'd be a weird thing to say to someone he just met, despite Jules being one of the only people he's really talked to other than Sera. So he just smiles back before exiting the classroom, of course not minding that Jules is trailing behind him. I mean, they do have the same class that they need to go to, and Squid would probably do the same if Jules was in front. He tends to stick to a few specific people and then never branch out with other friends-

Squid hums quietly as he tries navigating the hallway, which was full of other students making the commute to their classes. He has a general sense of where history might be, his parents did spare him some time this morning and kindof explained the layout of the school. Well, more like made general suggestions, but still-

Cuji

"You're going the wrong way." Sera had been walking with the two and called them out when they made the wrong turn. "It's up here." She pointed to the spiral staircase the lead to the history room, up in the northern tower. It was easy to miss if one wasn't paying attention. "Come on! This classroom looks the nicest." Sera dashed up the stairs and opened the large wooden door to reveal the circular room. It was decorated with maps and old drawings of creatures and famous witches. Around the wall, close to the roof, was a singular stretch of a book shelf that held important books for the class. Anything else could be found in the library. A moving ladder was attached to the shelf and could be pushed around the perimeter of the class, allowing access to any book.

@Pizzaz11 group

"Oh, uh..thanks Sera." Squid laughs in mild embarrassment, heading for the staircase instead of where he was originally going. Hopefully Jules still follows, although he doesn't know why the other wouldn't. But you never know, maybe the other witch didn't hear Sera.

Squid climbs up the stairs and enters the classroom through the doors, looking around in awe. As a somewhat-bookworm just the sheer amount of books in here made his mind very happy, just wait until he sees the library though- eventually he steps out of the way of the doors in case anyone else is coming up, quietly observing the drawings and paintings covering the walls. He's always loved drawings of animals and such, but I'd bet he can't name more than 3 of the famous witches-

Cuji

"It's cool right?" Sera grinned, "This classroom is my favourite cause its so pretty. Plus we can learn about famous witches." Sera looked at an old drawing pinned on the wall, "That's Jassika the Great. She's one of my most favourite witches. Famous for winning the Great Gargoyle War, when the gargoyles started a war with us witches and almost over threw us. The war is a reminder for the gargoyles that we are much more powerful than them and their evil ways."

@Anxietyfilledcinnamonroll group

Jules followed Squid up the stairwell, his face flushed with embarrassment. You're a moron. You should have looked for a map or something like that. Something that could have pointed you in the right direction. He carefully ascended the steps, avoiding falling backward. The spiral stairs reminded Jules of the ones in his house as he swayed back and forth. He reached the top, lagging behind Squid and Sera. The heavy books did him a disservice. He entered the classroom and ran into Squid. "Please accept my apologies." Jules shook his head and raised his head to take a look around the room. He takes a look at the bookshelf. Perhaps history can be tolerated. Well, he only despised certain periods of history. He pondered the old portraits, attempting to identify the individuals depicted.

“Gargoyles? AND THEY WANT US TO FIGHT THEM!?” Now, this boy was terrified. Fear was more powerful than anything else. He couldn't believe a stoney creature could be on the verge of overthrowing a dominant species. At least that is what he was taught they were dominant. If he was to kill a gargoyle, he’d have to really work on his magical offense skills. To put it another way, to stay alive. He hoped he had misunderstood what Sera had said about the forest training.
