(Back at it again at Krispy Kreme)
Jax finished the rest of the Tuna salad, stretching like a cat. He didn’t feel sick to the stomach, but his only challenge was sore muscles. He blinked, standing up to back out of the sun and put his bowl in the sink. He gripped the side of the counter, his vision going gray. Why did I stand up so fast? He let go of the counter, smiling at Cass. “Do you think there are other weird diseases out there like the zombie one? Like ones people thought were fake?” Jax questioned out loud. “I am very much human…but in the same regards, I feel bad because I am supposed to be independent.” He paused. “Well, in the eyes of our broken society. I’ve been independent since I was 12, so there is no difference.” He shrugged, slowly stepping around the kitchen as if he was practicing a waltz. “I don’t deserve much if you knew what I had to do to survive.” Jax stopped his stepping and looked Cass in the eyes. How could something look dead and tired but bright at the same time? He did not know. He embraced Cass in another hug, needing one badly.
“Three cannot be the only survivors of seven billion. That much is true. I think everyone has a good side regardless. You’re more of a personification of that.” He smiled and backed off. He didn’t want any hugs to last too long unless it was welcomed. Jax turned his head at the sound of footsteps. He squatted to get down on her level and smiled. “You sure are a sharp one. Depends on what your dad says. I don’t want to step all over his rules, but I’m pretty sure he wouldn’t mind if you stuck around.” Jax stood up.
Frenchie rolled her eyes and clicked her tongue, following after David begrudgingly. His attitude was seriously pissing her off. He thought of himself as so high and mighty, it was so frustrating. But it was fine, she just had to get through the hoarde and then she could leave these two to get eaten alive and have no guilt over it. Okay, she might have a little guilt when it came to Ryder but definitely none with David. Frenchie had other people that were more important to worry about, she didn't this.
(I’m sorry you have to deal with him, Frenchie :’))(Also, I’m not necessarily sure what to do? Besides have them walk 💀 so I’m up for suggestions)(I’m pretty sure the hoarde is between us and the RV group)(Or maybe it’s past the RV group?)
Ryder follows up behind them, Gabriel stumbling along, and keeps an eye and ear out for anything going on. Despite David’s reaction to Frenchie, Ryder actually was found of her. She was at least a little better company than David, and he couldn’t say he wasn’t a little happy to have her around. The only thing he wasn’t particularly found of was her dislike for Gabriel but that was understandable.
David keeps a hand on the strap of his shoulder bag, walking down the stairs and out of the building. The town they were currently in had most likely already been cleared of zombies, since they didn’t see any. Though it was more probable that the zombies moved out rather than were killed because there wasn’t many bodies around. He steps over the broken glass of the front door and squints, looking out into the street, a few deer peeking their heads up before scrambling away.
(@becausebuckyisthebest ahahaha yeah, I felt like if I gave all the information all at once there wouldn't be much of a story to her character, glad you like it so far though !! :'))
Cherry smiled, letting herself hope that these people weren't bad as she had originally thought. She hoped that she had misjudged them. In a way she had been just like the people who she didn't want to be like, being wary of others and untrusting. Though this did give her a new insight into why people were the way they were, some people really couldn't be trusted. It was terrifying when you were alone and it was two against one in a potential fight for survival.
When Clovis awkwardly introduced himself her smile only grew, there was a newfound brightness in her eyes.
"Name's Chernobyl!" She said happily, a little too confident in herself, seeing that he radiated no hostile energy and daring to be a bit more like herself even though people tended to not like her very much for it.
"But you may call me Cherry," She said, toning it down a bit, her expression softening when Clovis mentioned Onyx.
"It's nice to meet you two," She tilted her head some when Onyx didn't seem to look at her or focus his eyes. Putting two and two together she figured he must not be able to see, but didn't comment on it.
"And who's the intimidating pretty lady?" She asked, peaking over to Jesse and giving her another warm smile, throwing in a wave, happy to have another fellow female in the group even though the words she said were far from friendly. Apparently, she was not having it.
Seeing Jesse turning to go back into the van, Cherry seemed to falter somewhat, a little sad that she had not introduced herself. Then she was reminded, right, she wasn't in a group- well she was, but this was only temporary, and then she would be off with her own group that didn't like her very much either.
(Cherry and Clovis are going to be besties, I can see it now)(Also 💀’intimidating pretty lady’ Jesse is gonna boil alive)
Clovis glances over his shoulder, then back to Cherry. “Ah, that’s Jesse. And Ghabiun is the… dog.” It sounded less as if he had lost the word for ‘dog’ and more like he wasn’t quite sure if the beefy animal fit into the category. “She’s not really keen on people, i think.” He adds about Jesse, not wanting her to feel as if it was just her. He tucks a strand of loose hair behind his ear.
Rubbing at the ground with his heel, Onyx adds, “Our food is inside, if you’d still like some.” He still a few sweet behind Clovis, staying relatively motionless.
She’s been out in the rain all day and night, she might need to warm up or rest too.
(I’m sorry mine’s not as long :’))
(Honestly, idk either. I'd say put a pause on these three (four?) until we get a better idea of where they are compared to the other groups)
(Sounds good to me)(We could probably have ‘em run into the RV group or vice versa?)
(Let's see what they think first before making any big decisions but that'd be cool)
(okay so before i had this plan that imma share with you guys 0.0 i think the goal for like the first little chapter of this rp is everyone meeting at Cass's house. I have a smol surprise/not surprise when everyone does. Im going to be working on actually painting a map for this roleplay so let me know if you'd be interested in seeing that! But the plan is for everyone, for now, to meet at Cass's house ^^)
Jesse widens her eyes and whips her head around to look at Cherry, scowling and flipping her off before turning around and going to the other side of the RV with Ghabiun.
Pretty? How stupid. Never in my life have i known such disrespect. That's disgusting. What kind of insult is that Jesse thought to herself, her nose scrunched up in disgust. Obviously offended by the fact that someone called her a pretty lady.
She loosens the chain hooked to Ghabiun's leash so he could do what they originally went out there to do.
Jesse looks out to the field on the other side of the road as she leans against the rv, making it lean slightly to the left as it was on uneven ground. She needed to get going, and fast. The last thing she wanted was more people with her to bother her, but Jesse also knew it would be in her interest to keep at least Clovis with her. And obviously she wasn't about to make Onyx leave. Not that she could without Clovis leaving as well.
Cherry on the other hand, looked as if she could serve as no purpose to Jesse other than the fact that she knew where another camp was. And where there was a camp, there were guns and food. Maybe they even had some gasoline? She didn't get her hopes up too high, but she couldn't help but get just a little excited.
Maybe Cherry was good for some other things that Jesse didn't see. Though the only thing she ever paid attention to was how this could benefit her. That's the only reason she's been alive for so long. And she wasn't about to get rid of that trait now.
Ghabiun kicks some of the grass up before stepping over to Jesse, licking her hand and snapping her out of her thoughts. She looks down to him before getting on one knee and petting him while she debated what to do with this new group of hers.

Cass offers his hand towards Jax when he stands, noticing the lightheadedness. "We've all done things to survive. I've done countless things for Fia that in the eyes of anyone with morals, i should be burning in hell right now. But here i am. And because of that, my daughter is alive and happy and you're not bleeding out right now." he explains to Jax "You've made it this far. Im proud of you. Whether or not you were alone, that's impressive" he says, offering him a small smile.
When Fia runs downstairs and speaks, Cass ends the conversation then and there, not wanting to continue talking about this with her around.
Ophelia looks to Jax with a smile as he spoke, then turns to her dad. He nods "yeah you're good. Make sure to eat all of that" he says, motioning to the bowl of tuna salad.
"i will!" she says, shoving a spoonful into her mouth.
(Yooo, that'd be so cool to see! But that certainly sounds like a plan)
(yesss! i can see them becoming good friends :D ksdjfhdk that just cracked me up XDD)
Cherry's eyes widened as she watched Jesse disappear behind the other side of the van. Did she say something wrong? Maybe she hadn't liked the "intimidating" part….stupid. Of course, she hadn't, who would? She would apologize. It was important for her to not come off as someone rude.
Cherry suddenly froze. A bigger thought hit her. Maybe Jesse didn't identify as a lady and she got the pronouns wrong? Oh no.
She wouldn't like it if others misgendered her and maybe Jesse identified as something else like they/them or he/him, what did she know? She barely knew these people and she was already forgetting her manners. Cherry mentally beat herself up for it. Of course, Jesse also hadn't said anything. Maybe they weren't the talkative type? Jesse seemed to not like the idea of Cherry being there one bit and Cherry knew why. She was painfully aware, but the fact that they hadn't turned her away meant they were good people- well, that was yet to be seen, they could fake appearances, Cherry knew that much. Perhaps it was because she had a group to get back to that they thought she was worth keeping…
What would happen though? If they did help her find her group, would they join them too?
She sighed. Did it even matter if they did? What was she so scared of? Being accused of killing off the group that went scouting with you. Yeah, that. How was she supposed to defend herself against that? Even if they knew that wasn't the case she knew that they would use anything to get her thrown out.
Cherry looks over to Clovis as he keeps talking, her head still turning with questions. Ah, that makes sense.
"Yeah, it appears to be so," Cherry said quietly, though still feeling like she was the cause of this.
When Onyx spoke up Cherry nodded, still hesitating a little.
"Sorry for the trouble…it's not my style to intrude, but" She forced a smile. "I don't have anywhere to go and I'm afraid I might not make it out there" She confessed.
"I'll take anything you give me, even if it's just water," She said. Cherry never liked to take from others, even now when things were dire, it didn't sit well with her.
"And if you don't mind me asking…what are your pronouns? I know it's a little bit of a weird question being in this situation and all and asking questions like that, but it's something very important to me that I get right, and I'm sorry if it seems dumb!! I just don't want to disrespect any of you- I feel like I might have gotten it wrong with Jesse" She said, her thoughts coming out in a hurry as she frantically tried to get her head screwed on right.
(and don't worry about your responses not being long!! i'm a-okay with that :))
(I would definitely be interested in seeing the map!! That would be really cool)
(haha sorry I've been working on that map like all day long (or was. Yesterday) it's almost finished ^^)
(haha sorry I've been working on that map like all day long (or was. Yesterday) it's almost finished ^^)
Hey! I finished the map! A few things about it before you guys look at it though!
I drew all of our characters and i had a blast doing them! Though if i got anything wrong or you don't like them, don't tell me bc i will literally cry :)
Also, all of the brown spots/blobs are hoards of zombies. The darker the colors, the thicker the hoard (the more the zombies)
I will make another one if our characters explore more! But for now this was a lot of work and it might be a while till a make another one lol.
Not everything's perfectly drawn, as I've never done a map before so don't judge me too hard.
As for the city, i just drew shapes everywhere. I know theres a school, and a park. Thats about it. Everything else-despite the squares and the placement-you can make up. I dont mind lol. The brown line things around the city is basically a giant fence ig. Again, you can do whatever you want when it comes to the city. Idc
Without further ado!! The map!
(THE SCREECH I JUST LET OUT, IT'S SO GOOD WHAT)
(ALSO I LOVE HOW YOU DREW THE LITTLE CHARACTER FACES THEY'RE SO ADORABLE, AND CHERRY????? SHE LOOKS SO CUTEEEE)
(the map is just kjdhsbfkjs so well thought out and detailed??? a lot more detailed than i thought it was gonna be that's for sure! i thought it was just gonna be like little squares marking everything and circles, but you knocked it out of the park holy shit)
(Jax is just crying while Cass is vibing. Accurate. But I love the map! I love how detail it is! Your art is immaculate, Celeste! You inspire me a lot! I’ll put up a response to Cass in a little :)
(Thank you guys! Im glad you guys like it! And Cinnamon, dont feel pressured at all to write up a reply within a certain time! There's no rush!)
(also, im going to put this map up at the first post so everyone can look at it whenever you guys would like~)
(Sounds good to me!)
(Ahhhhh I love it!! This is the first time someone has actually drawn one of my characters and I am geeking out)
(I love it so much!)(you did so well too omg)(the characters are so accurate oml I did not expect you to draw everybody XD)(Onyx’s “I can’t see -_-“ killed me)
Jax stood himself up and smiled at Cass, letting him know how much he appreciated the gesture. "To live, I've done a lot of horrible things. I suppose that's how the circle of life works." He shrugged as he recalled the many precious animals he had to slaughter for food. His adorable one-year-old was a big fan of rabbits. But, in order to survive, Jax had to kill those rabbits. He was always on his own for a short period of time, pissing off people and getting kicked out. "It's understandable, Cass. Anyone, believe me, would go to any length for their child. Giving your child a fighting chance is not immoral." Jax took a deep breath and almost fell over. "It's been years since I've heard someone say they were proud of me." After hearing Fia's footsteps waddle into the kitchen, he dropped to Fia's level instead of dealing with another issue that required him to take better care of himself. When the kid was told she could stay, Jax smiled and stood. "The food will provide you with a great deal of strength and energy." He didn't have a lot of experience with children. “Fia! Careful not to put too much food in your mouth at once; you might choke!" His protective instincts, on the other hand, contradicted that. He wasn't a mama bird like Cass, but more of a 'I'm also looking out for your kid' type with hawk-like eyes.
Cass stays by Jax in case he loses his balance again, though watching his daughter at the same time. To him, it felt like he had become a dad for another kid. Except for this kid was a grown man. And he was perfectly fine with that. Cassius enjoyed taking care of people and he knew that Jax deserved to be taken care of. To be loved.
He jumps at Jax's words, startled by the urgency. She looks up at Jax as she swallows her food, started as well as she starts to cough. Cass quickly gets down to Fia's level and starts patting her back as she coughs. Though before Cass can do anything the food comes up and out and she stops choking.
"Hey baby? You okay?" He asks, one hand on her bowl in case she drops it and the other on her back. She nods before going to take another bite.
"ah, why don't we slow down a bit okay?" he says softly. "just so you don't choke again"
(sorry its shorter im in a rush)
Jax grabbed onto Cass' arm. "I'm fine, Cass. I swear." He let go of Cass' hand and looked worriedly at Fia. His admonition had turned into astonishment. He may have frightened Fia into choking, and oh, how he felt bad about it. He hid half of his face in the kitchen's shadows. "I apologize; I was attempting to help, but I may have startled her into choking. I'm not very good with children." Every time he tried to help, things seemed to go wrong. While Cass was caring for Fia, Jax sneaked out the front door, desperate for a breath of fresh air. He sat on the porch step, staring off into the distance. Jax couldn't see anything that looked like it might be alive, but he didn't want to talk to anyone anyway. He heard a faint ruffled in the nearby foliage, but didn't give it much thought. It was possible that it was a squirrel. But, as far as he knew, squirrels didn't make puppy noises. He didn't dare to look to see if it was a domestic animal. They could afford to take care of something else. Jax was already overwhelming. He cocked his head to the left, his eyes wide with wonder. He discovered a small fox kit and a zombie. Oh, great, the zombies have found their way over here. Maybe it was just a wanderer. In any case, he skewered it with a stick and then jumped back when its head fell off. Gross. The red fox kit was picked up by Jax. He had no intention of taking care of a fox. It was self-sufficient. It didn't require the care of a 21-year-old.
Cass stays kneeled down to his daughters level "oh it's alright Jax. You didn't know" he says calmly, his eyes still on Fia to make sure she's alright.
Finally standing, he turns around to see Jax gone and he furrows his brows. He knew he heard Jax's footsteps towards the front door and guessed he went out there.
Thats weird. He thinks to himself as he gets Fia a small glass of water. He turns around to her "heres something to drink" he says ruffling her hair as she takes it.
"Im gonna step outside alright? You wanna come with?" he asks. She nods of course, already making her way over to the front door and waiting in front of it for Cassius to open it. With her hands full, she slips through the front door before its fully open and steps out onto the porch, spotting Jax. She hops up on the porch swing on the side of their porch and swings her legs back and forth as she continues to eat. Cass looks over to Jax "hey" he calls out to him "what's up?"
He knew Jax might have felt guilty for making Fia choke, but Cass knew he didn't mean to.
Jax sat back on the porch, petting the tiny kit and pondering where he should put it. He'd been lost in his own thoughts for a few days. He was completely unaware of what he was doing. Jax wondered what lay beyond this property as he stared off into the distance once more. Perhaps if he ventured a few miles south, he'd find people. His head swung around to face Cass as the sound of the door creaking open startled him. When he saw Fia, Jax placed the fox kit in a small divot in the ground out of the child's sight. Cass, he reasoned, wouldn't want to deal with a six-year-old who wanted to keep an animal. That was, however, just Jax. He shrugged off his fantasies about what might have been. "Hi. I'm just sitting here, taking in the view of the blue skyline. I took out a lone zombie. I discovered a kit." Jax offered him a warm smile. "I enjoy being outside. It's comforting." Perhaps it was because he grew up in the woods. Jax rose from his place on the porch and approached Cass at the door. "I was taking a breath of fresh air. I just needed to get my thoughts straight." He considered leaving, but he realized that venturing into the unknown would almost certainly kill him. "I wanted to go on a journey, but I knew it would kill me. Is it possible for me to do some busy work? Like landscaping and cleaning up the area, for example. I have to keep myself occupied." He wasn't sure if this was a reasonable request. Because of the state he claimed Jax was in, Cass probably thought it was too much. Jax took a deep breath and exhaled slowly. He was taken off guard by the sound of the fox kit mewing.
