Cass stands, turning to the two girls "that's alright. We have food back at home. We're not too worried about that" he says.
Ophelia grabs his hand "is it time for us to go in?" She asks. Which he nods before they both start to walk towards the convenience store.
He opens the door slowly, even though he probably could have walked through the broken doorway. Shattered glass along the hard tiles floor. Glass crunching underneath their feet, he made sure to warn Ophelia of the glass so she wouldn't get hurt.
He goes behind the counter with her, looking underneath the counter for cigarettes. He didn't smoke or anything like that. But in his experience it was like currency. You want information or good, they just want a smoke. It didn't work all the time, but it has been useful to build trust and friendships with other people.
"dad are you going to smoke?" she asks him as she helps him put them in the bag.
He shakes his head "oh of course not. But in case we run into someone who does, we want to be nice and offer them some" he explains, not fully lying about it.
Cassius didn't want to corrupt her mind when he didn't need to.

(I think I’m gonna keep this vaguely tense but wholesome vibe)

The girls took their place on the curb outside the store, Lyn looking through their stuff, and Sef watching the area with her bat held out. At first, they were quiet. Lyn eventually finished looking through and organizing everything, and let out a sigh.
“Do you want to put on one of those pads?” Sef asked, keeping her eyes ahead.
“Now?” Lyn looked up. “I don’t think it’s a good time.”
Her friend shrugged. “Alright. You said you were leaking, so…”
“Just a little. It will be fine.”

It was a small town, with no one living in it anymore. That much, Travis could tell instantly. He lingered on the overpass for a few minutes, searching the darkened streets below for signs of movement, then started down the grassy slope towards the road leading in.
He had no intention of staying long. His sights were set on a place farther on, a larger city where people might still be. But his supplies were running low, and he preferred traveling through civilization over the wilderness. So he made sure his gun was loaded and crept deeper between the buildings, his eyes and ears tuned to any hint of danger.

Tapioca was making her way through an abandoned city, and she was running as fast as her legs could take her. She had run into a screamer a while back and managed to catch its attention, she moved to throw something to try and distract it but it didn't work for long. The screamer was gaining on her, she could hear the guttural screaming and the moment of its clawed feet.
She looked around the area, seeing the general shapes of the buildings and headed to turn the corner and hopefully find some way up one of the buildings but she got caught in the dead end. When she turned to leave the screamer had arrived to block her off with only a small space of escape. The screamer was just around her size, maybe a little bit taller.
She was pretty much alone in this situation, she held a staff in her hand, and moved to smack the the staff at the screamer, using the bladed end to stab into it.
It punctured right into the screamer, but when she moves to pull it out the creature but it got stuck. She got closer to pull it out and the screamer grabbed at her leg and pulled her down. she let go of the staff to move away from the creature but it moved to grab her arm with claws, dragging the claws down her arm.
She let out a scream in pain.

Soon they three come into view of the store, neither Jesse or Jezariah had spoken at all. Though Jesse hummed to herself as they walked along the black, beaten pavement.
Jez looks to the both of them "im gonna go in okay? ill tell them whats up and that you guys arent a threat." he says calmly
Jesse shakes her head "hell no" she says crossing her arms
"how do i believe you wont tell them to shoot me?" She asks him.
"fine" he shrugs "you guys can come with. Just dont say anything and let me do the talking" he says, looking to Evan now.

Evan nodded, "yeah i understand. I will be silent until you want me to talk.' He spoke, wondering what would happen when they all walked in. He wondered how many people were in his group, and what they were like.
He hoped no fighting had to go down.

The commotion came from surprisingly close, just a street or two from where Travis was walking. He whipped around in surprise, listening hard. If a screamer was on the hunt, that meant one of two things: it was hunting an animal, or hunting a person. And either way, Travis wanted to get there first.
He sprinted towards the sound, drawing his weapon and checking each corner before leaving cover. In minutes, he was standing in front of a narrow alley, taking in the scene. A girl about his age, all alone, fighting for her life against a sizable screamer. It didn't look like she was winning.
There was no time to make a plan. Travis took quick aim and fired, hitting the monster right through its midriff. That wouldn't kill it, but it was a good distraction. It gave him enough time to heft his trusty crowbar, dash up, and strike the screamer's head so hard that its skull shattered.
"Run!" he yelled to the girl. "Get outta here! I'll be right behind you!"

Cassius grabs the rest of the cigarettes that were left, not much having been there to begin with.
He stands, looking around towards the back of the store. "stay beside me okay?" he says to her. Fia then grabs the hem of his shirt so she didn't lose him or drift away.
They go towards the back, both of their eyes wondering along the shelves. His stop at a small, empty gas canister, debating whether or not to take it.
"look gloves" Fia points out, reaching for them. She picks up a single pair of grey and blue gloves off the shelf and holds it up to him.
"I don't know it those will fit you honey" he says with a chuckle
"okayy" she sighs, setting them down.
"ill tell you what. i can knit you a pair of gloves when we get home if youd like" Cassius asks her, in which she only nods with a big smile.
Soon they've gathered smaller things they could use or turn into weapons and started outside, not surprised by the lack of supplies in there. is was a convenience store that had been ransacked several times over. Though Ophelia had found a few candy bars here and there that had been swept under shelves by past raiders.
They step through the broken glass door frame and outside, the sun beaming down on the group.
"well it wasnt too lucky of a trip but thas alright" Cass says to the girls with a shrug.

She yanked away from the screamer, bitting down on her lip when the claws dragged down her arm. She scrambled to get up, grabbing her staff and yanking it free as she moved to run from basically under the screamer, she shoved the staff back in a sling she made for it.
She looked back and saw the stranger there, a male around her age. Well she kinda hoped but she wasn't sure either way it was nice to see people again.
"Hey come on! Let's go!" She called to him, hoping he would leave the screamer so they could get away.

Jesse stood there with her arms crossed, watching Jezariah's hesitant movements as he motioned for them to go forward.
She walks behind them, her hand on her gun now and her other on the machete on her other side.
Jez looks around and through the windows of the store they were staying at. "Gus? Jasper?" he calls out, not wanting to be too loud to attract any screamers or enemies for that matter.

"Gimme a minute!" Travis didn't have enough time or interest to make sure the screamer died, but he wanted to buy them some time and he wasn't afraid of getting a bit scratched up. Beside him was the first landing of a fire escape. While the screamer was still stunned, he dragged it up by its scruff and forced its head between the bars of the railing, then, as it opened its mouth to bite him, he threaded the crowbar through the bars so it was trapped with its jaws stretched wide and its body dangling halfway off the ground.
"Dumb thing," he said, chuckling harshly to dull the stinging pain from the beast's claws. Then he booked it out of the alley and after the girl. "Okay, let's move!"
(And now I'll go back to Gus's pov, one sec!)

Jasper jolted up when she heard a males voice outside, she moved to stand up, and looked at gus.
"That sounds like.. that sounds like jez!' She tried not to yell, but she couldn't hp.it. it really did sound like.jez. it means he came back and she didn't cause him to leave permeantly.

(quick thing I believe I said earlier but i cant remember. if a screamer bites you, and it pierces your skin (which happens 99% of the time in most bites) its saliva will infect your bloodstream and stop your heart within about 2 days.(48 hours) Lets say you get bitten in the leg and you wanna live, you'll have to amputate it quickly, depending on how long ago you've been bitten. much like a brown recluse spider bite, there will be a line traveling to your heart which is its venom/saliva, (again that travels in the span of two days. when it reaches your heart, you die) lets say the bite you've gotten has a line from that bite that's traveled from your calf to your thigh. you'd have to amputate your leg up to your thigh. when it reaches your torso, its too late (bc obviously you cant amputate any part of your torso lol) you should consider yourself lucky if you get a limb infected. uhm i think thats it. ill add this to the first post with the rules and such as well so we can easily go back to it. <3)

Gus heard Jasper say Jez's name and all other thoughts were swept out of his head. He remembered that Jez had been gone for hours, that he was angry when he left, that Elodie had said he'd been shot. He scrambled to his feet, barely thinking to grab his rifle before opening the back door.
"Y'all stay here," he said automatically. "I'll go check this out." He wasn't sure if anyone would do what he asked, and maybe it would be a good idea to not go alone, but he couldn't make himself care at that point. He darted through the door and around the corner, his only plan being to see if Jez really was there.

Jezariah could'nt help but smile when he hears Jasper excitedly exclaim about him coming back. "Jasper?" he calls, walking towards the back of the store.
Jesse sighs
i need to get back to Elodie. She's definitely woken up by now. Its all she could think about at the moment. But it would be useful to possible form an alliance with whoever these people were. But she was growing impatient.
When Jezariah sees Gus he gives him a sort of guilty look. He decided he would talk to him and apologize to him later.
His arm was still around Evan which he was grateful for. He had a nasty black eye, blood dripping from his leg, his lip and his arm, yet he still was able to smile at the sight of Gus, relieved to see him again.
Jesse glares at the man that had came from around the corner, her eyes not leaving his.

Gus stopped short when he saw Jez standing with two strangers, remembering at the last moment that they could be dangerous. But Jez looked even worse than he'd feared, and it was difficult to resist taking him inside immediately to treat his wounds.
"Jez," he said, lowering his gun to show he didn't want to fight. "We were all real worried 'bout you, partner. What happened? Who're these folks?"

Jasper however didn't listen to gus, how could she? Jez was back, and she heard him say her name. She had to go to him, go to him and- and- and apologize for what happened.
She rushed after gus, but instead of stopping she ran past gus. Her eyes watered at the sight of Jez, "jez-! What- what happened to you-?"
She was immediately worried, and looking at the other two. One was helping him the other had weapons on her…or her hands seemed to positioned to hover over the weapons.
Well she didn't waste time barreling into Jess. She tackled Jess hard, hoping to knock her down as she did so. She was glaring intensely at Jessie. "What did you do!"

Evan offered a wave to gus, "uh hi, I'm Evan and I'm not here to hurt anyone. I just Raj into Jez along the way and have been traveling with him a bit. I tried my best to bandage the wound but I don't think I did that good a job-" well he was cut off by Jasper racing past them and tackling Jessie. His eyes widened.

"Alright! Good to see your okay!" She called out to him as he ran towards her, she turned to get a good look at him once they were running side to side.
He wasn't bad looking from what she could see.
Ah to flirt or not to flirt that was the question indeed.
"Well dang if I had known you were this attractive I would have gone back to help!" She made the joke, half joke half flirt.
She was running with her face forward when she spoke.

Jez looks down to the ground, embarrassed. He swallows hard, looking back up at him. His heart beating 120 miles an hour and hard against his chest as he spoke.
"theyre fine. uhm…can i explain later? i feel like im gonna pass out" he says with a small chuckle, trying not to be as nervous. Though he couldnt help it.
Jesse held her eyes on the gun, even after he's lowered it.
Though when a small child came running towards Jesse, she was knocked back by the force, only a step as she was a good bit bigger than her. She immediately grabs her by her hair and pulls her head back by it, bringing the blade to her dead. "Get off me kid, before i slit that tiny throat of yours" she growls
Jez whips his head around, his eyes widen. "let go of her please. ill deal with it" he says to Jesse, in which she only loosens her grip a little. "Jasper you dont know what happened. Dont attack her right off the bat" he tries to reason
