Devon inhaled, he didn't want to take from Bane, because if he wasn't careful he could take ones life force away. He rarely spoke, and honestly he didn't like to, but he wasn't sure what else to do about it. "I don't want to…accidentally hurt someone" he muttered.
“ Devon, if you take energy from one of us, especially me, we regain faster then most. I take energy from the things around me, grass trees, lighting storms, shit like that”
Cavendish watches as Dev leans away.
"I'm an elf. I'll live through whatever you do to me." they tell Dev.
"Hellhounds are resilient. We live through everything and anything. Energy is easy to come by for us. You won't hurt any of us long term. You could take some energy from each of us to round out how much is taken." Bane let Devon go, letting him stand by himself. He gave him a soft smile.
Devon looked away from them. He didn't want to tell them that being around females made him uncomfortable. "fine…" he muttered, figuring that in the end they would keep pestering him about it until he caved.
"Good. I don't want to see you in this state ever again. If I do, Cavendish might have to hold me back from killing something." (Big brother vibes) Bane looked at Devon, studying his facial feature and expressions. He learns quickly from a great mentor. "What's wrong?"
"hm?" he shook his head, "I'm fine…" He said, stepping back towards the shadows, not liking standing out in the open.
Naize shifted, the fluff ball of a bobcat put her head in his hand and sat patiently
Cavendish chuckles at Bane's waords and nods.
"Then again, I may forgoe holding him back to slap you upside the head." they reply.
"why?" he blinked, confused.
June appeared back in the house, she glared at the group.
Cavendish chuckles.
"For being an idiot." they laugh.
“Shush, June!” Bane shouted, sensing her presence nearby. He had the urge to attack that girl. His face turned from helpful happy, to sour pouty. “You don’t have to hide from us. We’ll help you with what you need.” His smile was one of annoyance, but not towards Devon or the others.
Naize pawed at devons leg
Cavendish places a hand on Bane's shoulder, putting enough pressure there to let him know he's doing his thing again.
Bane's body shuttered from Cavendish pressing on a pressure point. He calmed down, closing his eyes. He put a hand on Cavendish's, trying to tell them to let go before he passed out. Bane murmured quietly, "Thank you." His body rocked back and forth slightly.
Cavendish releases Bane, and nods.
"You're welcome." they reply.
Devon sat down, and hugged Naize.
(um, im out for the weekend, see yall monday.)
(See ya!)
Bane rocked on the ball of his heel for a few seconds before stabilizing himself. He shook his head, his expression changing and becoming unreadable. He turned away and walked off into the woods. This whole get your anger under control thing wasn't going to be easy.
(Okay, see ya!)
Cavendish watches Bane walk away, and sighs, letting him have some time to collect himself.
Bane came back after a while, shaking his head with his hand to his temple. He looked upset. He seems to get more and more upset every time he gets in his angry state. A few knives were missing from his belt. Bane's footsteps were heavy, heavier than usual. He took a deep breath, muttering, "What was I thinking?" He's having a hard time grappling with why toning down his hostility was difficult.
Cavendish walks over and places their non-broken hand on Bane's cheek. They look him in his eyes, then get on their tiptoes, leaning their forehead on Bane's.
This startled bane, going wide-eyed. His cheek lifted a bit from the touch. "Um—hi..". He didn't dare to move. In fact, he stayed there frozen like a goat that had been knocked over.
Cavendish doesn't move, waiting for Bane to relax.
Bane's muscles relax a bit. His eyes are darting around in a confused manner. He didn't know what was going on, making him very nervous. His ear twitched many times in nervous confusion.
Cavendish leans back a bit to look at Bane.
"I know it's difficult to reign in your emotions. But please, do it for me, at the very least." they murmur.
Bane's breathing slowed, and he closed his eyes. "That's not why I'm upset, Cavendish. Yes, it's difficult to control them… but I did something I shouldn't have. Cavendish, I used my command ability. I hate using that ability. I don't even know why I did. I just wanted to help Devon, but that's no excuse for why I used it. Ugh." Next thing you know, he's pacing around. "I had to use my throwing knives to murder a squirrel to get my mind off of it. I don't think I can undo any of dad's molding. He did too much." He said the last bit in a growl. It came from low in his throat.
Cavendish sighs. "Please, call me Lis at least."
They look at Bane steadily.
"I think. . . that if the person you're trying to help is being purposefuly obtuse. . . that you can and should help them, using whatever you can." they say slowly.
They lean their forehead against Bane's once more. "I think that you can. I think that even though your father is a jackass, I think you still want to please him. You don't need to. You've never needed to. Whatever he thinks of you, let him think it. Just do what you want to do."
They kiss Bane's forehead softly, then step away. "I hope I've given you enough to think about."
Bane gave Lis a sad gaze, then sat on the floor. He called for Naize, wanting to pet the kitty as a comfort. "Isn't it sad that I hate my father and still want to prove I'm the top killer out of his hounds? It's a bit silly if I say so myself. Someone who can't let go of what they've come to know."
Lis sits down next to Bane, sighing, leaning their head on his shoulder.
"It isn't sad. It's natural." they reply.
