Eve's eyes twinkled at the woman's words, especially when she referred to Eve as 'homegirl.' She giggled. "You're… different," she remarked. "In a very good way. Do you mind if I…?" she motioned to the chair next to the woman.

BoxiBinks group

"You want the chair? OH WAIT NO, Yeah of course you can sit there!"
She shrugged off her own stupidity, now fully convinced Eve will leave as soon as she can and run away from the crazy imbecile red girl.

Eve laughed loudly. She lowered herself into the seat, momentarily forgetting her worry of other people seeing or approaching her. "Thank you," she remarked with a small, genuine smile.

BoxiBinks group

Awkward, yet genuine smile back, but quickly realizes herself and focuses deeply on her coffee, to stop herself from falling too deep into Eve's eyes
"So uhm… Yeah.. You..You're welcome"

@emilyevewrites group

"So what's your name?" Eve asked. She was eager to get to know her. It had been a while since she met someone she didn't immediately recognize, and even rarer was the possibility that this woman might not know who Eve was.

BoxiBinks group

"I'm Strewbarry. I think I heard the barista refer to you as Eve right?" She said, holding her coffee as if she was about to drink it, but not.

@emilyevewrites group

"Strewbarry?" Eve repeated. "What an interesting name. Like strawberry." She lowered her eyes and bit her lip slightly when Strewbarry mentioned her name. She was embarrassed of her own name. "Yes, I… I'm Eve."

BoxiBinks group

"Eve. I've never met anyone with that name. I don't meet many people at all though. Is it short for Evee?" She questioned lightly, tilting her head in pure curiosity. She doesn't meet many people, due to her doing.. Something all day away from others.

@emilyevewrites group

Eve looked up. Looking at Strewbarry, her eyes were filled with something she hadn't dared to feel in years. Hope. "Ah, no, actually," she said. "It's not short for anything. In fact…" She looked around so she made sure no one else was near them to listen. "Eve isn't even my biological name. It's Emily."

BoxiBinks group

"Emily? Earth names are strange" She admitted, not at all with judgement or sarcasm, but fully curious and interested.
"Strewbarry is actually a pretty common name where I'm from ^^"
She glances back at Eve from her coffee, locking eyes with her for a second, then quickly reverting back to her drink.

@emilyevewrites group

Eve smiled. "I quite like my real name," she admitted, but I don't like telling others. Especially not…" She inclined her head toward the counter, where the barista was staring at her while he made her coffee. It was taking an abnormally long time. "Them," she finished. "Anyway, enough about me. Where are you from?" she asked, tilting her head again as she asked the question.

BoxiBinks group

"Well it's.." She considered for a moment, then decided Eve wasn't the one to make assumptions
"Hell.. Yk, the place under? Not originally. I've already died and stuff yknow. But yeah.. I don't tell people usually. Lots of rude assumptions and random violence is always the reaction"
She glances slightly upset at the barista
"Hold on I have a good idea"
She walked up to the barista and asked for another coffee, just like the one he was already making, hoping since she wasn't Eve, and she was a demon looking lady, he would make it faster.

Eve's eyes widened, but it wasn't out of fear. It was intrigue. "Wow," she breathed. Her gaze followed Strewbarry as she stood up and ordered exactly what Eve had.

The man finished both cups with startlingly quick speed. "H-Here you go," he stammered, placing them on the counter for Strewbarry.

(Omg, Strew can be like Eve's bodyguard when they get together lol)

BoxiBinks group

(YES 100%. Plus people are scared of demons. Assumptions, demons, perfect bodyguard)
"Good boy"
She was disgusted by the fact she said that, but she knew the physiological effect it had on people, so it was worth it.
She walked back over to Eve and gave her the drink.
"Now I have an extra, and you have yours ^^"

@emilyevewrites group

The man quickly turned and walked into a backroom, leaving the two of them alone together.

Eve sighed quietly. "Thank you. You have no idea how exhausting it is to come in at 5 am for a coffee every morning to avoid people, then having to wait fifteen or twenty minutes while the man behind the counter stalls so he can stare at you. The audacity of people." She rolled her eyes, expressing herself more freely now that the two of them were completely alone.

BoxiBinks group

She chuckled slightly.
"Of course, I could do it all day. I'd never hurt someone, but the reactions can be pretty funny if i want them to happen. Unprovoked violence isn't the funnest"

@emilyevewrites group

Eve blinked her wide eyes. "Oh! No one has ever hurt you, have they?" she asked worriedly. Without thinking, she reached over and placed a delicate hand on top of Strewbarry's.

BoxiBinks group

Starts to pull her hand back, eventually just leaves it there, enjoying the small embrace
"Well yea, not surprising is it? Not hard to heal, humans can be weak. Until they get their shotgun out then it's a different story."
"But people are usually more scared of me then violent towards me"

@emilyevewrites group

Eve felt waves of emotion. "That's so terrible," she whispered. "You've been through so much." Her empathy for Strewbarry was immense, though she hopefully wouldn't have to experience what the demon had. "I'm so sorry you've been given the worse of humanity to endure."

BoxiBinks group

"Eh, It's pretty normal. Not unexpected when you're from somewhere where everyone is known to be oh so evil. Plus, the worst of humanity is the majority, sadly." She admitted this, she had obviously been doing this on loop for years, to the point it's how she feels of humans as a whole, though, she obviously wishes she didn't.

@emilyevewrites group

Eve nodded. "Yes. It's a very sad truth. But there are some people who can be good." Suddenly, the door to the shop opened, and instantly, the intimate moment the two were sharing ended.

Eve flinched away from the sound on instinct – it meant people.

BoxiBinks group

"Ew. Don't worry, I'll 'suck out their soul' if I have to <3" She half-joked, it was unknown if she could actually do that or not, but it was known she wouldn't unless she really had to

@emilyevewrites group

Eve shook her head. "That won't be necessary. I really should be going now. I don't want them to bother you too." She stood up, her coffee in hand. "I'm sorry for leaving like this. It was a pleasure meeting you, Strewbarry."

@emilyevewrites group

Eve nodded with a genuine smile.

"Eve!" someone called.

The woman in question turned slowly. "Hello," she greeted a different man than the cashier, but he appeared to have the same enthusiasm when he talked to her.

"Could I buy you a coffee?" the new man offered.

"Sorry, but I'm just leaving," Eve said politely, but her tone was restrained. She went to head for the door and nearly walked into another boy.

"Hello, Eve," he said. "I think you're beautiful."

Eve forced a laugh. "Ahaha, very blunt of you." Please make it stop. Leave me alone.

@emilyevewrites group

"I was just leaving–" Eve began, but she was interrupted yet again by the man.

"Eve, would you be interested in coming to dinner with me sometime?"

She shifted awkwardly. "Um, I… I…"

Suddenly, the men both shrank back and bolted toward the counter. Eve was confused until she remember the demon woman behind her. "Thank you," she murmured, not turning around.

@emilyevewrites group

"I don't want to keep you from your things to tend to," Eve remarked politely. It would be nice. Even at the thought, she shook her head to decline. "I appreciate it, I really do. I just need to get home."
