@Fraust
"Well, you're hurt too now, so it's only fair, right?" Rowan smiled cheekily. "C'mon, lemme help~… I don't like being cooped up."
"Well, you're hurt too now, so it's only fair, right?" Rowan smiled cheekily. "C'mon, lemme help~… I don't like being cooped up."
Rowan's tone brought an unnecessary blush to Eve's face. "Oh, alright," she relented with a smile.
Rowan grinned brighter and fetched a couple of things from the fridge. "Alright! What are we making?" He asked.
"Um… I was just going to make plain spaghetti," Eve admitted. "I burned myself on the pot while it was heating up."
"Ah, alright. Well, we could spice it up a bit!" Rowan hummed thoughtfully and got the pot set up again, pulling out various spices and some sauce while the water rose to a boil.
Eve watched, her lips pulling into a smile. "You know how to cook and everything. The most I can make is toast. And half the time I burn it because I forget to pay attention to it."
Rowan looked over his shoulder at Eve with a soft hum when she spoke. "Well, cooking is one of the few skills my parents insisted I have. I usually had to cook my own dinner, so I just learned to make stuff I like."
Eve slowly approached him from behind. "Can…" she hesitated, "can you show me how?"
"How to cook? Uh, yeah, sure. I can try." Rowan put the pasta in the water and started to stir it so it would cook faster.
Eve watched his movements carefully. "I always wanted to learn. Never had the time."
Rowan nodded. "Yeah… pasta is pretty simple, so it should be easy to learn. You know it's cooked when you can throw it at the wall and it sticks."
Eve laughed. "Do you always test it like that?"
"Nah, not always. Sometimes I just eat one to see if it's too my liking, but that's not as fun." Rowan smiled and pulled a noodle out of the pot to hand to Eve.
Eve giggled. She took the noodle and dropped it into her mouth. "Mmm!" she hummed in approval and nodded.
"C'mon, throw one at the wall! You know you want to!" Rowan insisted with a bright grin, handing her another noodle.
Eve blushed and grinned as she threw the noodle at the kitchen wall. It stuck, and she let out a natural laugh.
"Yeah, there you go! Guess it's cooked, then." Rowan laughed as well and took the spaghetti off the heat. "What kind of sauce do you like?"
"Whatever sauce you make," Eve replied, noting even the little things he did.
"Alright, then." Rowan set the pasta aside and busied himself with the sauce. It was mostly premade, but he did add some other spices to it to make it taste better. Once he was done, he poured the sauce over the spaghetti and started to mix it.
"So, what did you just do?" Eve asked as she watched him work what she had now identified as magic.
"Uh… just added a little spice for some extra flavor in the pre-made tomato sauce so it doesn't taste so canned, and then I put it in the pot with the spaghetti." Rowan shrugged.
Eve nodded, trying to remember everything he said. "Right."
"Sometimes I make my own sauce, but that takes a while and I'm not all that patient. Anyway, it should be done now." Rowan hummed contentedly as he dished out the spaghetti.
"I'm not either," Eve remarked. "But that was incredibly simple."
"Yeah, it's pretty easy. I think you could do it." Rowan smiled and handed Eve a plate. "Go on and see if you like it."
Eve grinned and took a bite. "Mmm!" she hummed excitedly. "Delicious!"
"Glad you like it. Uhhh… what time is it?" Rowan asked as he sat down at the table.
Eve slipped her phone out to check. "6:38," she answered, carrying her plate over to sit beside him.
"Alright… I guess we have a while until we need to sleep, then." Rowan yawned and stuck a forkful of spaghetti into his mouth.
Eve nodded. "We do," she agreed before taking another bite as well.
