(which door are Gus and darius patching up?)
(which door are Gus and darius patching up?)
(the front door)
Jasper stares at June, before glancing towards the back door, and then back at June before eventually moving to silently get up and move to drag June closer towards gus and Darius while they were hoping to distracted to notice before moving towards the back door and hesitantly reaching for the handle, she stared at it for a good, looking back at them all, before turning back to the door handle. im sorry.. she reached for it. (if you want gus or darius to notice shes only holding the handle, not out yet)
(awe but Darius would just fortget)
(just have him ask gus why shes leaving)
(ight)
Darius saw Jasper and looked at Gus, "why is uh…Jasper? leaving?" He asked looking back at her as she reached for the door handle.
(looks like I got back just in time lol)
Gus heard the question and froze, then looked up quickly. "I don't know." Setting down his tools, he stood up and turned to peek at the far door.
"Jasper?" he called quietly. "What's up, kid? You goin' somewhere?"
(I want to steal Gus' personality uwu)
(I desperately want a brother exactly like him xDD)
Jasper froze as she was pushing open the door not prepared for if she got noticed."U-um..u-um.." she stuttered not knowing what to say, should she just bolt? the door wasn't completely open yet but she couldnt get herself to open it more, she didnt want to lie to Gus either. "i-i…u-u-uh…" her lower lip and hand trembled slightly.
Gus frowned—Jasper seemed upset. He walked over, stopping a little ways away so he didn't crowd her. "Hey, what's th' matter? You ok? Did somethin' happen jus' now?" He still wasn't sure where June was, and started to worry that she and Jasper had argued.
everything, nothing, depends on who ask…im technically about to abandon you simply for your safety versus my own..
"u-um..n-nothing….n-nothing h-happened…" she looked strictly down, not wanting to make eye contact with gus and not wanting to turn around either in case he saw how distressed she was. "I-i s-swear…" she clenched the doorknob, if she could just disuade him then maybe…
as if. she was shaking way too much to convince him of anything.
"Woah there…." Gus could clearly see something was wrong, but he still didn't know what. "Better not go outside, kid, it's dark now and there'll be some bad critters on th' move. Tell me what th' trouble is, alright? I ain't gonna get mad or nothin'."
"i-i'll be fine…i-i'll be really c-careful…i-i c-c-cant s-say why.." she didnt let go of the knob, if Gus wen to to hug her then she would crumble into his arms at how horrible she felt.
Gus had never been a big brother, but he'd been an uncle to his own brother's kids often enough. He knew what to do. Crossing the distance between them, he put his arm around her and gently pulled her away from the door. "C'mere," he said gently. "It's okay, Jasper. Let's have a little sit-down."
(stop Gus is so wholesome, im actually gonna cry.)
(mission ACCOMPLISHED >w<)
(if your mission is to make me cry over Gus it is very much working)
(wait no hang on x'DD I just want him to be wholesome as heck lmao)
(well anygays im crying and he's wholesome, so everybody wins.)
(yes, who doesnt love gus)
(You guys are too niiiceeee >///< )
(Gusssssssss <3)
Jasper couldn't take it as soon as he crossed the distance, she was going to shout at him, that she wasn't stable, her being emotional like this never turned out well for anyone.
"S-s-stop- i-i-i'll just- y-you c-cant.." she sniffles, trying to suck up her tears before they fell, they looked up in her eyes, threatening to spill over like a flood.
Gus crouched down and looked at her seriously. "Jasper, I'll leave you alone if I'm scarin' you. But I ain't gonna let you keep thinkin' you're a monster, okay kid? You don't gotta worry about me, I promise. You won't hurt me."
"B-but- I-i-i- t-they- t-they s-said I-i w-was…." She was breathing in gasps as tears ran down her cheeks, remembering her captors always calling her monster and other horrible names, and then she remembered how Jez looked at her in the ways that they did.
"I-im- I-im j-just-" she paused to gasp in a breath of a air. "T-that i-im- just a m-monster! I-i c-can o-only..h-hurt people.." she sniffles, tears falling down her face nonstop, trying to whip them away and it didn't work.
"You ain't doin' anything now," Gus reminded her softly. "I'm jus' fine, see? Since this mornin', when we found you, you haven't hurt a single soul. You jus' spooked Jez a bit, and you weren't even tryin' to. Look….lemme guess, you were about t' run away to keep us safe, yeah? Well, would a monster think of somethin' like that? Nope, that's the kind of thing a good person thinks about." Rummaging in his pocket, he pulled out an old handkerchief and gave it to her. "But we don't want you t' leave, okay Jasper? You're our friend now."
She was still sobbing and wheezing, gasping as well. Her lower lip trembled as he talked to her, trying to disagree with him before just not being able to react from how emotional she was. After he handed her the handkerchief she just moved to give him a tight hug and put her face in his chest. "I-i d-dont w-want to l-leave!' She sniffles, crying into him.
Gus wrapped his arms around her. "I know you don't, sister. You don't have to. It's all right."
He sat there and let her cry for a while in silence, thinking about what she must have gone through and how he wished Jez could see this so he'd realize Jasper wasn't a threat. He wished there was more he could do for her. But for now, the only option was to make sure she knew, without a doubt, that she was welcome here and had at least one person to lean on if she needed it.
