"Mm… I guess we could skip it for today." Lucas laughed weakly. "What would you want to do instead?"
"Mm… I guess we could skip it for today." Lucas laughed weakly. "What would you want to do instead?"
“I dunno… I don’t really care, as long as we’re both happy doing it.” Melissa mumbled, curling up even more.
Lucas nodded a bit. "Okay, um… we could watch something, I guess?" He suggested.
Melissa looked up at him, resting her chin on his chest. "Mm… I'm fine with that." She shrugged.
"Alrighty. What do you wanna watch, then?" Lucas asked, picking up the remote and turning on the TV.
"I dunno…" Melissa shrugged, keeping her arms around his waist. "M'happy to watch whatever you wanna watch."
"Well, I can't be making all the decisions here." Lucas laughed weakly.
Melissa smiled softly up at him, slowly pulling back to sit up. "Mm… you want a movie or show?"
"Mm… movie maybe? Even though we never really end up paying attention to them…"
"M'kay… we should have a movie night sometime next week." She stated as she looked up at the tv. "But for now, we could just watch something Disney… all I can think of is Little Mermaid, though."
"Alright. Little Mermaid it is, then." Lucas turned on the movie and huddled closer to Melissa. "I love you…"
Melissa laughed a little, resting her head against him when he curled up. "Mm, love you too…" She hummed softly.
Lucas settled himself with Melissa on all the pillows, trying his best to pay attention to the screen.
Melissa happily curled up besides him, distracted by the film already. She was happy for any kind of distraction, it kept her mind off the bad things. “Mm… how long do we have until I have to get ready for work?”
"Uh… we should be able to get through this movie and then have a little extra time for you to get ready before work. How does that sound?"
"Works for me…" Melissa mumbled, loosely hugging his waist. She smiled gently as she went quiet.
Lucas yawned a bit and tangled himself up with Melissa. He kept quiet throughout the rest of the movie.
As the movie went on, Melissa had been running her fingers through his hair. Though slowly she stopped as her eyes were growing heavy, and she began to nod off.
Lucas began to nod off as well at the petting, but awoke when he heard Mr. Brennahan come down. "Mm… Mel, wake up…"
Melissa groaned some, huddling up even closer. "Mm… what..?"
"I think we gotta go… or it's almost time anyway. Movie's over…" Lucas mumbled tiredly.
"But I don't wanna go to work…" Melissa huffed as she started to sit up. "M'sleepy."
"But you gotta, Mel… you'll be late if we don't leave soon…" Lucas mumbled.
Melissa sighed weakly, rubbing her eyes before crawling out of the fort. “Fine… I’ll go get ready.” She mumbled, starting to head up the stairs to change.
"Mm…" Lucas got out of the fort as well and fetched Cody so he'd be ready to head up to the school with Mr. Brennahan.
After a couple minutes, Melissa came down the stairs plopping down on the couch to tie her laces. “Mm… I don’t wanna go… can’t I go with you guys?”
"Unfortunately not, Mel… you gotta go to work." Lucas kissed Melissa softly. "We can handle the other stuff."
“I don’t wanna go, though…” She mumbled as she got up. Coming up and hugging him, she nuzzled up against him with a soft sigh.
"I know you don't…" Lucas sighed softly. "But you gotta. And we should probably get going."
Melissa huffed as she let go, grabbing her purse off the floor. She headed out the front door, not waiting for Lucas or her father. Mr. Brennahan came from the kitchen, looking up at Lucas. "You ready to go?"
