"Sorry- I know that was out of the blue, I just remembered it though." Melissa mumbled, starting to get off the couch. "I'll go get them, and be right back."
"Sorry- I know that was out of the blue, I just remembered it though." Melissa mumbled, starting to get off the couch. "I'll go get them, and be right back."
"Okay…" Lucas curled up on the couch in Melissa's absence, hugging Cody tightly to himself.
Melissa came back with water and his meds, kneeling down next to him. "Here…" She whispered, petting him a bit to try and help him relax.
"Mmm…" Lucas looked up weakly and accepted the water and meds from Melissa, quietly swallowing the pills. "Thanks…"
"Yeah, of course…" She whispered, petting him still. Kissing his forehead, she curled back up on the couch with him. "I'm hoping that helps out some…"
Lucas nodded a bit and held tightly to Melissa, burying his face back in her shoulder. "I'm sorry for being so overdramatic about all of this…"
"You don't have to apologize, honey…" Melissa whispered, resting her head against his. "I know what you've been through…"
"But I'm probably blowing everything out of proportion and being too emotional and making it a bigger deal than it needs to be… He sighed shakily.
"It happens, sometimes. But by stressing over stressing about it, you're only going to make things worse for yourself." Melissa offered, trying to put him at ease. Though she felt it wasn't working great.
"Y-Yeah, I guess so…" Lucas huddled a bit closer to Melissa, still on edge, but trying to allow himself to be comforted. "I'm sorry…"
"It's alright, love…" Melissa hummed, kissing the top of his head before curling back up. "I love you… even when you're upset."
"T-Thanks… I love you too…" Lucas murmured softly, letting Melissa hold onto him. "What time is it…?" He asked.
"I dunno…" She mumbled, sitting up enough to glance at the clock on the wall. "Mm… almost eleven. Why?"
"Just wondering…" He mumbled, closing his eyes again. "It's gonna be a long day, huh?"
“Yeah, probably…” Melissa sighed softly, kissing his forehead before nuzzling up against him. “I’m so sorry honey… I wish I could do more.”
"It's not your fault, Mel… don't blame yourself." Lucas returned the kiss and huddled close, relaxing a little more.
Melissa grew quiet, letting out a soft sigh as she curled up more in his arms. "It feels like I could have done more…" She whispered, keeping her head buried in his shoulder.
"It's not your fault, Mel. You did everything you could have done, and you still are. I'm very thankful to you for that."
"I still wish I could do more," Melissa mumbled, keeping her face buried in his shoulder. "I don't know what I could do, though."
"Exactly. You've already done so much, Mel." Lucas gently kissed the top of Melissa's head and held her close.
"You're sure?" Melissa asked softly, looking up at him with a soft look. "Are you sure I can't do more for you?"
"I'm sure. You've been doing so much for me, love. You really don't need to do anything more."
"Mm… alright…" Melissa mumbled, keeping her head on his shoulder. "I just feel like I could. Even though you say I don't need to."
Lucas kissed the top of Melissa's head again and sighed. "You really don't have to, Mel. You already do a ton. You need to take care of yourself too."
Melissa let out a weak sigh, kissing his shoulder in return. "But I don't need help right now. I want to take care of you."
"You do, though. I wanna be able to help you too. I should be able to take care of myself as well, at least to some extent."
Letting out a weak sigh, she curled back up with him, looking at him. "I love you…" She whispered, cupping his cheek.
"I love you too…" Lucas closed his eyes and kissed Melissa softly, huddling closer to her. "I'm sorry about all of this…"
"Please don't be…" Melissa whispered, keeping her head on his shoulder. Holding onto him she buried her face in his shoulder.
"I don't want you to have to feel like this, Mel… especially not because of me." Lucas sighed softly and hid his face as well.
