“I guess so.” He mumbled. He bit his lip gently. “Hey Arien..” he spoke up. “I’d um…I’d understand if you want me to leave..”
“I guess so.” He mumbled. He bit his lip gently. “Hey Arien..” he spoke up. “I’d um…I’d understand if you want me to leave..”
"W-what?" Arien was confused. "W-why would I ask you to leave? Rafael, you've been hurt so much, there's no way in hell I'm going to abandon you like that."
“I just..I don’t want to be a burden on you..” He said softly. He knew it wasn’t logical, but that didn’t stop him from thinking it.
"No, no Rafael," Arien said softly. "You're not a burden. You could never be." Arien held Rafael closer, arms securely around him.
Rafael wasn’t sure if he believed him and just stayed silent. He was glad that Arien was letting him stay.
Arien let out a soft sigh, resting his head on Rafael.
"Are you hungry?" He asked. He himself was starving, but he didn't say a word. He could go hunting later.
He shrugged. “I probably should eat anyway though.” It had been at least 12 hours since he’d last eaten anything.
"Okay…" Arien sat up, keeping his arms around Rafael.
"I'll make something light then."
He nodded. “Should I just stay here?” He asked uncertainly. He knew he could make it to the kitchen just fine with Arien’s help but he wasn’t sure if he wanted to go. He knew he’d struggle at least a bit and it’d only make him frustrated.
"I… you can if you want to, or I could help you out." Rafael may need to get used to moving around like this, and that thought terrified Arien. He didn't want Rafael to have to get used to this.
“C-can you help me then?” He asked softly. Frankly, he didn’t know what he’d do if he was by himself, even if only for a few minutes.
"Okay then." Arien spoke softly. He stood, leaving his hand lightly on Rafael so the man would know he was there. He took Rafael's hand in his own, helping him up.
"I'll be right here."
He nodded. “Okay..” he moved unsteadily at first, doing his best to let Arien guide him. But there were still times when he stumbled. When they reached the hallway, Rafael put his other hand out, feeling around until he found the wall, using it as another way to guide himself.
Arien held Rafael's hand in his, his other arm around Rafael's waist.
"You're doing good," he said softly. He encouraged Rafael, carefully leading him to sit down in the kitchen at the counter.
“Psh- don’t lie to me.” He grumbled, grateful when they finally made it to the counter. He gently rested his head on the table.
"Really! You did much better than anyone could have asked of you." Arien patted Rafael's hand lightly as he said this, then moved away. He opened the fridge, going about the motions of making breakfast.
Rafael instinctively lifted his head up to watch Arien before remembering and then promptly feeling extremely stupid. He set his head back down with a small sigh.
Arien hummed softly, mostly so so Rafael would know he was still there. He finished, moving over. He lightly set his hand on Rafael's.
"Do you need help to eat?"
He shook his head, gently pulling his hand away from Arien’s. “I’ll be fine.” He offered him a small smile. “Well whatever you made it smells great.”
Arien let out a soft breath.
"I'm glad it does," he said. He sat down across from Rafael, watching him closely.
Rafael knew he probably couldn’t do it on his own but he didn’t want to admit it. He tried his best. It took him a few seconds to find each thing he needed which only made him more frustrated. But eventually, he slowly began to eat. Despite trying to be careful, there were a lot of times when he’d mess up.
Arien silently helped when he could, not letting Rafael know he was. He felt a bit bad about it, but he knew Rafael wanted to do this on his on his own.
Thankfully, Rafael didn’t notice that Arien was helping. Honestly, he’d probably get really mad if he figured it out. After a few more minutes, he figured he’d eaten enough to last him a few hours. Plus, he was just feeling too upset to keep trying.
"How are you doing?" Arien asked when Rafael seemed to be done. He wasn't going to let Rafael try to put his own food away, that was pushing too much.
“I’m fine.” He replied dryly. “Can I just go back to my room now please?” He asked softly, fidgeting with his hands.
"I…" Arien had flinched at Rafael's tone. "Of course… Do you need help again?" Arien understood that Rafael didn't like help, but Arien couldn't let Rafael hurt himself.
He hesitated but nodded. “Y-Yeah I probably do need help..” he said, very clearly still upset about the fact.
Arien started to nod, then remembered Rafael couldn't tell.
"Okay…" Arien moved around, slipping one arm around Rafael's waist to help him up.
"Please don't be afraid to ask for help when you need it."
“Okay.” He replied, knowing it’d only worry Arien if he didn’t at least say he would. He didn’t plan on actually asking for help unless he really really needed it.
Arien held Rafael close a moment, then started helping him to the bedroom. He made sure Rafael could still touch the wall, giving him that feeling of helping himself. He would need to keep a close eye on Rafael during this, he knew…
