Lucas nodded a bit and led Melissa out of the fort. "Let's get our hot chocolate and head out to see the fireworks, then."
Lucas nodded a bit and led Melissa out of the fort. "Let's get our hot chocolate and head out to see the fireworks, then."
Melissa nodded, yawning as she climbed out after him. She followed him into the kitchen, grabbing a mug for the both of them.
Lucas filled the mugs with hot water and went to fetch the hot chocolate packets.
Melissa yawned as she waited for it, rubbing her eyes. "Mm… I'm sorry for getting you up…" She mumbled.
"No problem, Mel. Let's just go watch the fireworks, yeah?" He smiled gently at Melissa.
Melissa nodded, carrying her own mug. She yawned again as she loosely held onto his hand and lead him towards her room. "Mm… are we gonna sleep downstairs in the fort?"
"Probably, yeah…" Lucas followed Melissa upstairs and sipped at his hot chocolate, humming softly to himself.
Melissa smiles softly, pushing her door open before heading over to the closet. “Can you hold my mug while I go up?”
"Sure, Mel." Lucas took Melissa's mug from her while she climbed up and passed both up to her while he climbed up himself.
Melissa took the two mugs, walking over to the hammock she had hanging up. She sat down in the edge of it, sipping her mug of hot chocolate slowly.
Lucas sat beside her once he got up and started sipping his hot chocolate again. "Mmm… that's nice."
“What is?” Melissa asked softly, slowly leaning back. She didn’t want to tip them over, especially with the mugs.
"Hot chocolate. It's cold out here." Lucas huddled up with Melissa and sighed softly. "The fireworks should start soon."
“Mm, agreed. It is kinda cold.” Melissa laughed softly, resting her head on his shoulder. “I should have changed into something warmer. Oh well.” She shrugged, sipping on her drink.
"Mm…" Lucas kissed Melissa gently and kept drinking. "We can head back down when the fireworks are over."
Melissa nodded a little, sighing softly. "I'll probably put pjs on, before we go to bed. This dress isn't very comfortable, honestly." She mumbled, yawning again as she looked up at the night sky. "It's really pretty, out."
"Yeah…" Lucas looked up as well and jumped when the fireworks started up. "Mm… how long's this show gonna last?"
Melissa looked over to him, before flicking her gaze back up to the sky. "Not long… only a couple minutes." She whispered, an awed look on her face as she stared up at the sparkling fireworks.
Lucas smiled gently as he watched the fireworks show, holding onto Melissa's hand as he did so. "I love you…"
"I love you, too…" Melissa whispered, holding onto his hand tightly. Glancing over to him, she pressed a soft kiss to his lips, resting her head on his shoulder again.
Lucas returned the kiss and pulled Melissa close. He soon finished his hot chocolate, and the fireworks show ended a little while after.
Melissa smiled softly, sighing contently when the sky went quiet. "Mm… I love you so much… Happy New Year, Lucas." She whispered, looking up at him.
"Happy New Year, Mel." Lucas whispered in reply, getting to his feet once he was sure that the show was over. "Ready to go back to bed?"
Melissa yawned and nodded, getting up from the hammock. "Mm, I'll meet you downstairs? We can both change out of these clothes, into something more comfortable." She hummed, rubbing at her eyes.
"Sounds good to me, Mel." Lucas climbed down the ladder and headed off to change, soon meeting Melissa downstairs in a hoodie and sweatpants.
Having changed into her own pajamas Melissa hummed as she came down the stairs, smiling softly as she came up and hugged him. "Ready for bed?"
"Mhmm…" Lucas kissed Melissa softly and curled up back under the fort with her. "G'night, Mel…"
“Night, Lu.” Melissa whispered burying her face in his chest. She snuggled up close, head resting on his chest as she drifted off to sleep.
Lucas soon fell asleep as well, huddling closer to Melissa. He was still fast asleep in the morning when she woke up.
It was pretty late when Melissa had finally woken up, still curled up against him. Smiling softly, she let him sleep for a while longer, eventually shaking him a little to try and wake him up.
