She kept a delicate hold on it, fingering it a little. "I- um… if you're going to get me anything, I really do like this…" Melissa whispered, glancing up at him.

Lucas nodded and gently took the glass rose from Melissa. "I'll be right back then, darling." He kissed her once more and then brought the figurine to the counter to buy it.

A woman had been standing in the back, coming up front when she saw Lucas. She had a sweet smile on her younger face, hair pulled back out of her face. "Goodness, I'm so sorry, I didn't hear you come in." She hummed, stepping up to the register. "How can I help you today?"

"Hi! No worries, miss!" Lucas smiled brightly at the woman. "I'd like to buy this for my girlfriend if that's okay… it's her birthday today."

"Of course it's okay to buy it, in fact, it's encouraged." The lady joked, smiling still as she took the figurine from him. "That's so sweet, tell her happy birthday for me. Will this be all?" She asked softly, starting to wrap up the figure in a protective layer.

"Yes, ma'am." He smiled gently as he pulled out his wallet and handed the money over to the woman.

Nodding a little, she took the cash from him, setting the smaller bag on the counter in front of Lucas. "Alright, well here you are." She hummed, printing off a receipt and handing it over to him. "You two have a good day, alright?"

"Thank you!" Lucas took the bag from the woman and headed back over to Melissa, where he handed it to her.

Melissa glanced up at Lucas, smiling softly. "Thanks, love… though you really didn't have to." She insisted softly, holding onto the small bag.

"But I did, darling." Lucas kissed Melissa softly. "I gotta get you a nice gift for your birthday."

Melissa sighed softly, pulling him into a hug. "You can be so stubborn, sometimes." She whispered, kissing his cheek.

"Mhmm~" Lucas snickered a bit and held Melissa close to himself. "So can you, you know."

"I know…" Melissa huffed, burying her face in his shoulder. "I just don't usually expect it from you…"

"Why not?" Lucas asked softly, starting to toy with Melissa's hair a bit. "I'm plenty stubborn."

"Mmm… I feel like you're a lot more fluent with me." Melissa hummed softly, pulling back from the hug to lead him out of the store. "You spoil me, just a little."

Lucas flushed a bit. "Well, you deserve it…" He insisted, holding onto Melissa's hand as she led him out.

Melissa smiled a little, pulling him over to the side. She gently nosed against his cheek, kissing the tip of his nose. "Mm, and I'm grateful for it. I'm just telling you that you do."

Lucas smiled softly and returned the kiss. "Mm… alright. What do you wanna go do now?" He asked.

Melissa shrugged, nuzzling up against him still. "I dunno… I'm honestly wanting to cuddle right now…" She mumbled, holding onto him loosely.

"Well, we can go back home and do that if you want to." Lucas shrugged. "And then the glass thing will be safer."

"Mmm… maybe…" Melissa hummed softly, looking around the boardwalk. "I'm really indecisive right now…" She huffed, burying her face in his chest.

"Well, I'm happy to do whatever you wanna do, Mel. It's your birthday." Lucas kissed Melissa softly.

"Mm…" Melissa sighed softly, holding onto him tightly. "I really don't know, Lu… do you have anything you want to do while we're here?"

Lucas shrugged. "Nothing in particular. I'm happy to do just about anything, to be honest.

“But I don’t know what I want to do…” Melissa huffed, snuggling up closer. “I guess we should keep walking.”

"Sure, Mel. If you see anything you wanna do, point it out, okay?" Lucas smiled gently down at Melissa.

"Mhmm." Melissa nodded a little, lacing her fingers with his. "I'll tell you if I see anything."

"Alrighty." Lucas continued walking, keeping a firm grip on Melissa's hand as they looked around.

Melissa smiled softly, a slight skip in her step as they walked. "Mm… thanks for coming with me."

"Of course, Mel. It's been fun, don't you think?" He asked, swinging their hands between them a bit.
