"Lu?" Melissa asked softly, pulling back a little. It was the little things, but his increased silence was starting to worry her. She could barely hear him breathing.
"Lu?" Melissa asked softly, pulling back a little. It was the little things, but his increased silence was starting to worry her. She could barely hear him breathing.
"S-Sorry, I just… c-can't breathe right now… it'll be fine…" Lucas whispered weakly in reply, keeping his face hidden for now.
"I- Lu…" Melissa whispered in return, holding onto him a little tighter. She didn't really know what to do.
Lucas was starting to grow weak in Melissa's arms, but after a couple of minutes, he drew in a shallow breath and relaxed a bit. He took in a few more wavering breaths, glad to be able to do so again.
Melissa slowly ran her fingers through his hair after a couple minutes, letting him take all the time he needed. She felt really bad for ever bringing it up. “You alright?”
Lucas nodded a bit as he clung to Melissa. Cody had curled up against his side as well to comfort him. "Y-Yeah, m'alright…"
Melissa nodded, keeping close to him. She’d only pull away when he was ready to be. “Alright… is there anything I can do?”
"Not really… I just need a minute." Lucas kept his face hidden for now. "I love you…"
"Right… I love you too…" Melissa whispered, leaning back into the couch with a soft sigh. She sighed softly before keeping quiet.
Lucas nuzzled against Melissa's cheek a bit, keeping his eyes closed. He wasn't crying, but he was very pale.
Melissa kept running her fingers through his hair, looking down at his face. "You know I'm here for you, right? You can… cry, or whatever you need."
"I'm alright, Mel…" Lucas whispered softly, leaning into Melissa's hand a bit. "I'm gonna be just fine… don't worry."
Melissa sighed, nodding just a little. She kissed his forehead, not talking about it anymore.
It was a few more minutes before Lucas seemed to be mostly back to normal, although he was still a bit dull. "Sorry…"
"You don't have to be sorry, love…" Melissa whispered, kissing him once again. "I should probably be apologizing…"
Lucas shrugged a bit as he returned the kiss. "Let's just… not dwell on it, okay?"
Melissa nodded a little, glancing down at her hands. "Right… um, I guess we should probably get up..?"
"Probably, yeah… any plans after we do that?" He asked. "Go outside, maybe? Get some fresh air?"
"Yeah… sounds like a good plan." Melissa whispered, fiddling with a loose strand of hair.
"Let's head out, then." Lucas took Melissa's hand gently and led her outside.
Melissa sucked in a deep breath when they were outside, not moving off the porch. She was hugging herself already, trying not to think about the cold air. "Mm, I'll have to grab a coat before we go to the clearing."
"Alright… that makes sense." Lucas looked out at the snow, humming thoughtfully to himself.
Melissa kept quiet for a minute or so before coming up and hugging him from behind. She rested her head against his back, sighing weakly.
Lucas looked at Melissa over his shoulder curiously, but soon turned back to the snow, letting Melissa do what she wanted.
"I love you…" Melissa finally said weakly, face buried up against his back. In the hug she reached for one of his hands to hold onto him.
"Love you too, Mel…" Lucas held tightly to Melissa's hand and sighed. "So much."
"I don't know what I'd do without you…" Melissa whispered in return. Her grip on his hand was rather tight as well.
"Me either, love…" Lucas turned so he could hug Melissa and rest his head on hers. "You okay?"
Melissa shrugged a little, looking up at him. “I don’t really know… I’m just feeling kinda… meh, y’know?”
"Mm…" Lucas kissed Melissa softly. "Anything I can do to help?"
