“Mm, but I’ve always found you cute. You were adorable then, and you’re cute now.” Melissa hummed softly, still smiling.
“Mm, but I’ve always found you cute. You were adorable then, and you’re cute now.” Melissa hummed softly, still smiling.
Lucas sighed softly and shook his head a bit. "It's impossible to change your mind, isn't it?" He asked.
“About a lot of things, yup.” Melissa smiles softly, starting to play with her hair. “There’s a few things I’ll cave in on. But I’m not telling you what- you’ll use it against me.” She joked, smiling softly.
"Mm… we'll agree to disagree, then. What other news do you have?" Lucas asked. "It's been a couple weeks, after all."
“Umm… I already told you Laura took me to Homecoming stuff, right?” Melissa asked softly, trying to rack her brain from over the past few weeks.
Lucas nodded a bit. "Mhmm. Do you have any pictures?" He asked softly. "I'm sure you looked really nice."
Melissa smiled softly, nodding a bit. “You want the cute pictures, or the weird best friend pictures?” She asked, pulling her phone from her pocket.
"Any pictures you're willing to show me, I guess? I'd love to see them." Lucas smiled gently as he watched Melissa.
“Besides a couple weird ones, it’s not that bad. You can see basically any picture you want to.” Melissa hummed, sliding her phone over to him. Melissa and Laura were both in the picture, smiling brightly together. “Feel free to scroll through.”
Lucas picked up Melissa's phone and started scrolling through the photos, smiling softly to himself as he did so. "You guys look great… did you have fun?" He asked
Melissa smiled softly as he did, mindlessly tracing the table with her finger. "I'm gonna be honest, it took awhile. I honestly didn't want to be there, but Laura made me go. After awhile, though, it wasn't so bad." She hummed. "There's about a million pictures, so you don't have to look through them all."
Lucas nodded a bit, still looking through the pictures. "I wish I could've gone with you guys… I'm glad you had fun, though." He smiled weakly and soon returned Melissa's phone.
“It definitely would have been better if you were there.” Melissa insisted, pocketing her phone. “I was honestly bummed you couldn’t be. Maybe we’ll have to set up something and have our own ‘homecoming’.”
Lucas laughed weakly. "Sure, Mel. I don't have a ton of fancy clothes here, but we can try something if you want."
Melissa smiled softly, leaning forward to kiss him. “I know that- and we don’t really have to. I just didn’t want you to be sad, that you missed anything.”
Lucas gently returned the kiss and sighed. "Honestly, don't worry about it, Mel. There's other dances we can go to together?"
“Yeah, but you sounded kinda bummed. I wanna make you happy.” Melissa whispered, holding onto his hand tightly.
"It's alright, Mel." Lucas sighed softly and held a bit tighter to Melissa's hand. "Honestly, don't worry about it."
“Come on, Lu. I am worried about it. You sure you’re okay?” Melissa asked softly, squeezing his hand a little.
"Yes. I promise I'm okay." Lucas gently kissed Melissa. "I just get a little lonely sometimes, Mel. We've got lots of dances we can go to."
Melissa sighed softly, sitting back down in her seat. She gave a little nod, resting her chin on her palm. “Right…”
"When do you have to go?" Lucas asked softly. "We'll probably want to ask about the Cody thing soon…"
"I dunno- whenever we don't have any time left, I guess." Melissa shrugged a little. "And yeah, probably. I can get up now, if you want?"
"I really don't want you to go, though…" Lucas sighed softly and reached out to take Melissa's hand again.
"Then I'll stay. But you gotta make up you mind." Melissa laughed softly, giving him a smile.
Lucas sighed a bit and held tighter to Melissa's hand. "Maybe you can ask after our time is up?" He suggested.
Melissa's smile stretched further as she nodded a bit. "Mmm, of course love. What until then?"
"I dunno… how's everybody else doing?" He asked. "How is your father taking all of this? I know I've put a lot of stress on him…"
"I… um, I don't really know about him. I haven't talked to him much, since you've been gone…" Melissa admitted, flicking her gaze off of him.
Lucas nodded a bit and sighed, tapping one foot on the floor. "I feel bad for putting all of this on him, you know?"
