Melissa sighed weakly, nodding a little. "I promise, I really am trying… I just… I can't, Lu. I want to see you, so bad. But before I know it, two weeks have gone by, and I barely have any time to spare."
Melissa sighed weakly, nodding a little. "I promise, I really am trying… I just… I can't, Lu. I want to see you, so bad. But before I know it, two weeks have gone by, and I barely have any time to spare."
"I-I know, Mel, I know… I don't blame you at all. It really isn't your fault." Lucas smiled weakly as he held onto Melissa's hand. "I just really miss you."
"I really miss you too, love…" Melissa mumbled, giving his hand a gentle squeeze. "I'll do my best to try and come more often… it sucks not just having you at home."
Lucas nodded a bit, lacing his fingers with Melissa's. "Yeah… um… if you're talking to other people regularly, you can tell them I'm doing okay."
Melissa nodded in return, giving him a soft smile. "I can do that." She hummed a little, leaning down to kiss his knuckles. "Mmm… oh, yeah! I brought you your sketch-book."
"Thanks, Mel." Lucas smiled gently as he took his sketchbook from Melissa. "I've just been doodling on napkins and stray pieces of paper…"
"Mmm, what've you been doodling?" Melissa asked softly, resting both arms on the table. "And did I get any doodles in my letter?"
"You got a couple, yeah. I've mostly been drawing stuff around here and what I can see from the windows. Nothing too exciting."
"Mmm, but it's a little bit of you. I honestly just love getting to see anything you draw- even if it's something simple." Melissa hummed lightly, smiling sweetly.
Lucas smiled weakly as he looked up at Melissa. "Yeah, I guess so… you can look through my sketchbooks if you want. I don't draw anything you can't see. Just keep in mind that there's a fair few drawings of you."
Melissa felt her smile pick up a little more, reaching over to play with his hair. "You don't mind? Because I don't have to." She mumbled, easily getting distracted by the action.
"I don't mind it, Mel." Lucas closed his eyes and leaned into Melissa's hand with a soft sigh. "They're really nothing special."
"I think it's special…" Melissa whispered, being careful as she played with his hair. "I love you, an find practically anything you do special. That's how ridiculous I am."
Lucas flushed a bit and smiled gently. "Glad you think so, Mel… there's tons of people who are way better than me, though."
"But they aren't you. You are my boyfriend." Melissa hummed gently, seeming pretty serious about it. "I'm sure there's other people out there who are incredible, but I love what you do."
Lucas flushed harder and tried to hide his face with his free hand. "I-I… um… t-thanks, Mel. I'm glad you like my drawings…"
Melissa leaned forward, resting her chin on the table. "Mm… I haven't flustered you in awhile… I didn't realize how much I missed teasing you."
Lucas huffed a bit and stuck out his tongue playfully, his face very red by now. "So mean to me, Mel." He whined
"I am, but I do it out of love." Melissa said while grinning, scrunching her face up a bit. "Besides, you can't stay mad at me. Not for something like that."
"I know, I know…" Lucas sighed, rubbing his cheeks as though it would make his blush go away. "I love you too much."
Melissa laughed softly, admiring him with a smile. "I love you, too… you're honestly so cute…" She mumbled, knowing it would make his cheeks grow pinker.
Melissa was definitely right about that. Lucas flushed again and looked down at the floor. "I'm not cute…"
"You are when you flush up. Your cheeks give you a cute look." Melissa hummed, giving him a little smile.
Lucas stuck his tongue out again, obviously pouting. "Am not…" He huffed. "You're the cute one."
"No, I don't think so." Melissa replied simply, reaching over and poking his nose. "If we're gonna argue about it, we could just call Cody the cute one, and leave it at that."
"Sounds good to me. He's pretty cute." Lucas pet Cody's head with a soft sigh, trying to get his blush to go back down.
"Mmm, not as cute as you, but a close second." Melissa hummed softly, folding her arms on the table in front of her.
Lucas huffed again and held Cody closer to himself. "The puppy is definitely cuter than I am, Mel."
“I love him, but he’s not.” Melissa insisted, still smiling softly. “Not to me at least. I’ve known you longer, and you’ve been cuter longer.”
Lucas rolled his eyes. "Yeah, yeah. Maybe when I was like… eight. But to be fair, eight year old twins are pretty much always cute."
