“You know I don’t drink,” Ryan said, although her voice seemed slightly lighter. “I am both underage and not a fan of alcohol.”
She turned around, setting a cup for Jade on the counter and then going back to her workspace, rinsing out the shaker along with a separate cup she used. Although she left all the supplies out— Freya might want one when she got home, no doubt.
Ryan finished up, turning around and leaning back on the counter, taking a deep breath.
"I knowwww but still. Didnt hurt to try" she waved her finger in her face before turning back around, starting to prepare the food.
"I hope her date is going well…Freyas. whaddya think?" She asked
While the others were at home, sipping on drinks, Freya was yawning at the movie theatre. Her date, a misogynistic bastard, had decided that Freya would love to watch a sappy romantic movie. Thankfully he payed for the ticket and because she was extremely tempted to leave. Just as she was about to get up, she felt his hand on her thigh and looked up to see him smirking. "Sweet pea, y'can't leave right now, I have other things planned for us." He said, winking at her. Freya looked at him with a disgusted look on her face and pushed his hand off her thigh before smiling nastily. "I thought this would be fun but it really isn't. I've got another date so I don't have time to do 'other things' with you she said, grabbing her purse and standing up.
She left the theatre and walked into the main room, her date following her. "The fuck you mean you have another date?!" He said, basically shouting at this point. Freya rolled her eyes and looked in her phone camera to fix her eyelash that was annoying her. "I mean that I've got plans for the evening. I need to pick up some fancy alcohol then head to dinner–no you may nor accompany me because we are not dating and I don't like you." She said, seeing him open his mouth to ask a question. The man went red and Freya wondered what she saw in him that made her agree to the date. She walked out onto the street and walked towards the mall where she ordered an uber.
Giving a quick nod, Jade stood up then took another glimpse around the room. She didn't have much of plan as to how to decorate so she just unpacked clothes and bed sheets first. Then she went back and forth from the car to her room coming in with more stuff till the old green van was empty. Random ideas popped up from time to time leaving the new roomie exhausted.
She grabbed her empty water bottle then did a little skip to the kitchen. Her head bopped as she quietly hummed to herself. In a short second, the bottle slipped from her hand making a small thud. "Come on stupid…", Jade mumbled to herself while picking it up. After standing up, she noticed the cup with the lime. "Is this anybody's?", she asked.
“Yeah,” Ryan said softly. “Yours.”
She couldn’t say she didn’t sort of like the new kid. She seemed like a breath of fresh innocent air after the shenanigans of both Freya and Ally. It brought her to wonder if she had a good taste in music. Considering that was about the only way she connected with people, it was a decent attempt at companionship, even if it was just a passing thought.
Ally got the bowl of cornstarch and cracked a few eggs, dipping and rolling the chicken in it and setting each piece in a pan of oil.
"Its real good, try it!" She smiled at the new girl.
"Hey Ry, so how do you think Freyas dates goin right about now huh? Think she dumped him yet?" She asked, actually pretty curious about it
"Really?" Her eyes lit up as she stared at the drink while setting her bottle down. Tossing her hair behind her shoulder, Jade picked up the glass and took a sip right away. The drink tasted sweeter than anything else she tried. It sure did make her cheeks turn a little red. "Thanks Ry!", she smiled," This tastes really good, you're quite the mixologist."
Jade tapped on her watch to check the time. Had it already been an hour? She keep drinking wondering how Freya's date was going.
Ryan gave a small smile. “Thank you. Glad you like it.”
She then looked over to Ally, tilting her head slightly.
“No doubt she’s already dumped him,” she mumbled. “It’s— well, it’s Freya. I mean that in the nicest way possible.”
She leaned her weight back on the counter, pushing herself up so she was sitting on it, feet pressed against the cabinets. She ran a hand through her hair, closing her eyes for a moment before glancing over to the door.
Right as Ry finished that statement, the doors opened and Freya came inside, dramatically taking off her shoes and throwing her self on the closest sofa. "I hate life. I got dressed up and look damned hot in all this, and the asshole has the audacity to take me to see a sappy romantic movie then talk about 'other things' he had planned for the afternoon." She did air quotes and assumed they all got the meaning behind her words. "U explicitly told him I don't like romantic shit, I would prefer an action or a thriller but no." She glared at the ceiling.
“Hey Jade, could you get this” Ally whispered to her, gesturing to the pan of oil and chicken ready to be set in it. She then ran over to Freya and sat of the arm of the couch.
“Man slut huh? I see” she nodded.
“He was a piece of shit anyway, you dont need no man. We’ve got some tequila and we’re having firecracker chicken tonight! Oh, i also but a ton of ice cream, so chow down to your hearts content. And I’m sorry… about your date. I can beat him up if you like?” Allison says, trying to make her friend feel better, though she was never good with words, or trying to make people feel better in general. But she was doing her best.
"Ooh tequila!" Freya exclaimed, brightening. "I haven't had firecracker chicken so it'll be an experience." She threw her arms around Ally and hugged her. "You are an amazing friend. And as much as I'd love for you to go beat him up, I don't think the police will appreciate seeing me again." She grinned sheepishly and jumped off the sofa, ignoring any follow-up questions and going to check the fridge for anything to snack on before dinner.
“I’ll do it. They still haven’t found me,” Ryan said jokingly, although her voice held no humor at all. In reality, Ryan actually wasn’t one to disobey the law whatsoever, except for an extremely honorable cause. She was a lawful one, fully.
She glanced over to Freya, watching her walk over. She slid down from off the counter, turning back around and taking the shaker with a hypnotizing flourish.
“Want me to make you a drink, Fay?” she mumbled, twirling the muddler between her fingers.
As soon as the question left Ry's mouth, Freya's eyes lit up and she nodded. "Hecking yes my fair bitch. I love your drinks." She smiled and grabbed a bag on unopened barbeque chips, opening it and eating one before looking up slyly at both Ally and Ry. "Not sure who's this was, but its mine now." She grinned.
The bag was Allys but she didnt care.
"Oh, I bought them for everyone" she says with a shrug, taking a sip of the tequila from the bottle and hopping on the counter.
She turned to Jade with a curious look in her eye "say Jade, you single?" She winked at her. Nah, she wasnt trying to hit on her, though it seemed like it. She was just askin questions to get to know her
Jade kept her eyes at the floor while holding her drink. Her mind wandered else where for a moment even after Freya came in. Listening to what Freya said about the date, she giggled while giving a simple nod.
Hearing Ally's whisper, she nodded then shuffled over to the pan. She hasn't cooked firecracker chicken in forever, hopefully nothing crazy happens. Gulping down whatever remained in the glass, she turned to wash her hands and turn the stove heat on.
She poured the oil on then carefully set the chicken on. Staring at the time, her head went side to side while softly humming. Jade's head snapped to the right when she heard her name. "Yep, uhh for seven months yeah."
"Ooh really?" She says leaning forward "sell hey stick with us and your bound to get a few boyfriends and girlfriends. No doubt about it. " she says with a laugh and a wink. "Here I can take care of that if you want" she says gesturing to the pain
(Hey guys! I’m gonna be gone for a day or so, so I guess Ryan will just go up to her room and chill to music lol. Go ahead on without me, I’ll come back in around Sunday :)
(Of course!)
Ryan handed Freya her drink and gestured to the stairs. "I'm going to be in my room, not feeling the best so I think I'll go to sleep early." She said and waved to the three on the room before going up and disappearing from view. Few seconds later faint sounds of music could be heard from her room.
"I guess it's just us three for dinner tonight." Freya grinned, sipping her drink
"Awe come on." She groaned, though perking up soon after when she heard the sizzling in the pain.
Once she finished up the chicken, she set them out on three separate plates and setting them on the dining table along with the drinks and silverware.
"Here ya guys go." She smiled brightly before setting down at the table. "Tell me how it is"
Jade threw her head back a little as she laughed. "Sounds very interesting to me!", she cackled before giving a wink.
She went over to the sink to wash her hands again after the chicken was done. Hearing Ryan, Jade turned around to give a small wave back. That sucked, she really wanted to have dinner with all three of them. Oh well, it was understandable to her. Maybe tomorrow.
Seeing the silverware, she made another o shape with her lips. Still, Jade clapped her hands eager to eat. The firecracker chicken just looks wonderful! Sitting down, she picked up her fork and quickly picked up a piece of chicken. While chewing, she just gave a small thumbs up and a smile.
“Just kidding, I’m actually starving,” Ryan mumbled, walking back down the stairs. Music was still audible from her room.
Plus, she still kind of wanted to meet the newbie. She figured being a closed off moron wasn’t the best introduction. Well… not that her tired eyes and baggy clothes did much to help with first impressions.
She grabbed a chair on the side, pulling it out and slumping down in it.
“Looks awesome, Ally,” she said, slightly brighter.
(Got home sooner than expected :D)
(Hope you dont mind how I had her leave!)
(:D)
Doing the normal thing, Freya flipped her chair around to the other side and straddled it. She grabbed her fork and took a bite. "Ooh, our little Ally is growing up." Freya wiped a fake tear and smirked and Ally, taking another bite of the surprisingly delicious meal.
“Hey! I’m the same age as you arent i? Just by like two months!” She says actually forgetting Freyas birthday, and she hoped she wouldnt mention anything.
“Growing up my patoshka” she huffed, about to cross her arms and pout but the food looked way to good to not stuff her face with the fork full of chicken and steamed vegetables.
"Y'know, I'm not sure whether I'm older or you are. My birthday is on April 27th." She responded, taking another bite and swallowing before heading back to the kitchen and bringing out a chilled bottle of iced tea, shocking her previous roomies who expected her to return with some form of alcohol.
(Y'all, I'm having way too much fun writing this character)
(I bet! Shes awesome! I love her! XD)
Ally sighed “you’re only a month older than me” she says stuffing her face with more chicken, stabbing a piece of steamed broccoli angrily. Though she wasnt actually mad. She almost never actually got mad. The only time that was….well when her brother totaled her car a while ago. It was too rare to see her mad
Ryan just sat quietly at the table, nibbling on a small piece of chicken. She looked extremely tired— another night of never sleeping. Not that it was insomnia, no, it was a choice. She had been writing songs… although she probably would never admit it. Ry had never sang her songs aloud, let alone mentioned them. She had also been solving puzzles. A certain box puzzle she had gotten from a friend a while back was finally opened.
She rested her head on one of her hands, closing her eyes for a moment before flicking them back open. They flitted from Ally to Freya, like a cat watching ping pong.
