Halm hesitated a moment. He still thought Zachary deserved what had happened. Still… Cas was upset at him enough as it was. He stepped forward, reaching out carefully to Zachary. Zachary pulled away a little. He didn't want Halm touching him, not now.
Cas kept his eyes on Halm to make sure he didn't hurt Zachary further, seeming very suspicious. He huddled close to Zachary to try and comfort him.
Halm's hand hovered over Zachary, slowly beginning. Zachary closed his eyes, focusing on Cas holding him. Eventually, he relaxed as the pain eased away.
"Thank you." Cas said shortly, pulling himself into Zachary's lap once he was healed. He tucked his head under the other's head and sighed softly.
Halm backed away, back to Nix's side. Zachary hummed a bit, rubbing Cas's back lightly. He was calmer, now that he wasn't in pain. He still kept his gaze on Cas, however.
Nix tugged at Halm's hand and led him out of the room, his tail tucked between his legs. His heart was pounding and he seemed very nervous.
Halm, once they were out of the room and the door was closed, wrapped his arms around Nix, holding him close.
"We did what we thought was right," he murmured quietly.
"I-I know… he was so angry, though…" Nix sighed shakily, huddling close to Halm for comfort. "He probably hates us now…"
"He doesn't hate you," Halm said quietly. "He… He might be disappointed, but he won't hate you." Halm carefully picked Nalm up, holding him close.
Nix tucked his head under Halm's chin, noticeably shaking. "H-He's never yelled at me before…" He whispered weakly.
Halm wrapped his arms around Nix more securely, almost completely blocking our everything else.
"I'm so sorry," he said gently. He tried to run Nix's back to help him calm down.
Nix buried his face in Halm's chest, biting back tears. "I d-don't want him to be mad at me… I… I-I was just trying to protect him…"
"I know you were," Halm assured. "We just… We just did it the wrong way. We won't do it again…" Halm held Nix gently, bringing him to the couch.
Nix nodded, keeping his face hidden. "I-I upset him…" He whispered shakily. "I'm… I'm supposed to help him…"
"All we did was make a mistake," Halm said carefully, "he'll forgive you in time. You still mean so much to Cas." Halm gently ran his hand up and down Nix's head and back, trying to calm him.
Nix nuzzled into Halm's hand, a couple tears rolling down his pale cheeks. He kept his eyes closed and drew in a harsh, shaky breath.
Halm carefully wiped Nix's tears away, still rubbing him.
"He'll forgive you," Halm said softly. "Just give him some time to calm down."
Nix nodded weakly and hid his face again, curling his tail tightly around himself. He fell silent other than the occasional hiccup or whimper.
Halm held Nix close, rubbing his back.
"It'll be okay," he said gently. "Let's hold off on the torture though, okay?"
Nix nodded again, shuffling a little closer to Halm for comfort. He kept his face buried in the other's chest.
Halm wrapped himself around Nix, holding him close. He hummed softy, hoping it would help.
"He loves you," Halm assured quietly.
"I-I'm not so sure anymore…" Nix whispered softly. "I'm not sure I can come back from this… I don't know if he'll forgive me…"
Halm closed his eyes, holding Nix close.
"You can," he whispered quietly. "Just…be gentle. Show how sorry you are…"
"Mmm… I c-can't let him know that we killed one of his ex boyfriends… he'd be even more angry with me…"
"We won't tell him, not ever," Halm said gently. "It's our little secret. He won't know." Halm gently rubbed Nix's head. "He'll never know, I won't let him."
Nix nodded shakily, needily pushing his head into Halm's hand. "Mmkay… h-he's just been so cold to us lately… I want him to love me again…"
"He hasn't stopped loving you," Halm said quietly, holding Nix close. "He's just upset. You've been so important to him, for so long. He hasn't stopped loving you."
"H-He's pushing me away, Halm… he's never done that before…" Nix exhaled shakily and huddled a bit closer.
"He's not used to you like this," Halm said. "Used to you being able to affect things like this." Halm rubbed Nix's back, holding him so close.
Nix sighed a bit. "Should… should I change back for a bit? Later, when he's cooled off… I don't think now is a good time…"
