"Right… it might be better for Nix if Halm isn't holding onto anything. I feel like he might feel guilty going into a new relationship when she's right on top of his head all the time. And Nix doesn't even know she's there."

Zachary nodded.
"Then… You want to tell him then? He might not take it well…" Zachary sighed gently, kissing Cas's cheek. He didn't want Halm to hurt Cas by accident.

"I think maybe we should… but not when Nix is around. Nix doesn't need to be dragged into that. He wouldn't understand."

Zachary nodded in agreement.
"I don't think he understands much of anything about being human. After all, it's only been a short time he's been one."

"Right…" Cas sighed softly. "I think maybe you should be the one to tell him since there's not really any reason I would know. I can go with you if you want, though. Or I could distract Nix so he's not in the way."

"I…" Zachary was torn. On one hand, Cas might be able to keep Halm from hurting him. On the other, he didn't want Cas to get caught up in it.
"You should keep Nix distracted," he finally said.

"Alright… when should we do it?" Cas asked, looking up at Zachary. "I'm ready any time. Whenever you want to do it is fine."

"Now… Now might be a good time. He's more relaxed now." Zachary fiddled with his shirt a little, kissing Cas's cheek one more time.

"And Nix is asleep… so should I just go with you, then? Nix is fine on his own, and he's not likely to wake up anytime soon."

"Okay, okay then." Zachary held Cas close, making his way slowly to the door.
"Just… Make sure you stay at a safe distance."

Cas nodded, holding tightly to Zachary's hand as he walked with him. His heart was pounding, but he kept quiet.

Zachary knocked on Halm's door quietly. Halm looked up.
"Come in," he said. Zachary opened the door, leading Cas in. He gave Cas's hand a small squeeze.
"There's… Something I need to tell you," Zachary said carefully. "About Aiko."

Cas laced his fingers with Zachary's as he followed him in, looking up at Halm nervously. Nix yawned a bit and settled in more, seeming to be comfortable.

Halm raised an eyebrow, sitting up slightly.
"What about her?" Halm asked. He looked up a moment, as if to look at Aiko, then back to Zachary.
"I… When she got older, she told me something. She… She said not to tell you, but with how you've been towards Nix…" Zachary shuddered a moment.
"She… In the end, she didn't love you the same way. She, she stated only feeling platonic love again. I'm- I'm sorry, sir," Zachary says quietly. He moved sightly more between Halm and Cas, just in case. Halm looked… Stunned.

Cas glanced up at the soul between Halm's horns, holding tightly to Zachary's arm and keeping quiet. He didn't have any idea what he could say to Halm. Nix pulled himself more into Halm's lap when the god sat up, purring quietly and nuzzling against the other's chest.

Halm absentmindedly put his hand on Nix's head.
"I…" He trailed off. He didn't want to believe it, but… For one thing, Aiko wasn't getting upset. And for another… It would make sense. With his age had acted. He closed his eyes a moment.
"Thank you," he finally said. "For telling me." Zachary swallowed a little. He held Cas close with his other arm, still scared Halm would snap.

Nix yawned and purred a bit louder when Halm pet him, smiling softly in his sleep. He turned his ears back a bit and seemed content. "W-We just thought… since you and Nix are getting closer in that way, we thought it would be better for both of you if you weren't holding onto anything with her…"

Halm nodded a little.
"Could you… Could you give me some alone time? I… I need to think about this…" Zachary nodded, quickly motioning for Cas to follow him out of the room. When the door was closed, he gave Cas a giant hug.
Halm carefully reached up, taking Aiko in his hands and bringing her down.
"Is this true?" He said softly.
"I… Yes, my dear Halm. I'm so sorry. I didn't want to hurt you with this…"

Cas nodded and left with Zachary, exhaling shakily and burying himself in the other's arms. "That went… better than expected, I think?" He said softly. Nix stirred a bit, but soon settled back down and stayed asleep for the time being.

"Much better," Zachary said quietly. He held Cas tightly to himself, trembling a little. He kissed the side of Cas's head, almost carrying him to his bedroom to get away from Halm's.
Halm started crying softly.
"I… I…"
"Please don't be sad, my dear. I still care for you, so much. I just… I can't love you that way anymore…" Halm trembled slightly, looking down away from Aiko.

Cas just allowed Zachary to drag him along, sighing softly. "Hopefully he's not too upset… or at least, I hope he can get over it for Nix's sake."
Nix purred softly in his sleep, nuzzling up against Halm's chest. He was blissfully unaware of the heavy atmosphere around himself.

Zachary nodded a little. He brought Cas over to the bed, sitting down with him. "I'm sure… I'm sure he'll try," Zachary said softly.
Aiko gently leaned into Halm's finger. She took on a human form now, growing to normal size. She floated a little about Nix.
"I'm so sorry," she said again gently, cupping Halm's head in her hands. She gently kissed his forehead. "I see how you feel for this cat, dear. Please, I want you to be happy with him." Halm leaned into Aiko's hand, still crying.

"Yeah, I'm sure he will… he cares about Nix a lot. I can tell." Cas gently kissed Zachary's cheek and huddled close.
Nix's ears twitched a bit as Halm and Aiko continued talking, stirring again. He yawned, but stayed asleep for now.

Zachary leaned into Cas's kiss, wrapping his arms more securely around him.
"I love you," he said quietly.
Aiko gently kissed Halm's forehead, then quietly returned to a ball form. She returned to between his horns. Halm wiped at his tears, looking down at Nix. He really did love him… He gently rubbed Nix's head.

(So like is she always listening lmao)
"I love you too, Zachary." Cas buried his face in Zachary's neck, sighing softly.
Nix stirred again and opened his eyes, smiling gently when he saw Halm. "Mmmm… mornin'…" He mumbled sleepily.
(Because that could get kinda problematic if they get closer oops)

Zachary held Cas close, rubbing his back.
"I just hope he still didn't get mad," he confessed quietly. "I don't… I don't want you to get hurt."
Halm gave a tiny chuckle.
"It's afternoon," Halm said gently. "You just took a nap." He smiled, pushing back the sadness. Nix didn't need to know about what had happened.

"Yeah… I wouldn't want him to take it out on Nix, either. He hasn't done anything wrong." Cas shuffled a bit closer.
"Oh, right… that sounds like me." Nix stretched a bit and rested his head on Halm's chest, purring happily.

Zachary eventually laid down, kissing Cas's cheek.
"Well, it doesn't sound like he's done anything rash yet. That's good, at least."
Halm smiled gently. He put his hand on Nix's head, running it up and down his back.
"Did you get enough rest?"
