(Good night)
She smiled back at him and quickly kissed his cheek before walking into the building.
He led her inside, smiling as he headed to the counter.
More out of habit than anything else, Jade looked around the restaurant, making little mental notes about their surroundings.
Killian hummed faintly. "Hey, Mrs Jones." he greeted the woman behind the counter.
Jade followed his gaze and gave a polite smile at the woman he greeted. ”Hello.”
The woman looked up and beamed. "Killian! You haven't been here in months."
"Sorry. I've been kinda busy." he replied with a smile. "This is Jade, by the way."
“Nice to meet you, ma’am.” Jade smiled at the woman, glad to see she was right on her comparison between this restaurant and the Chinese one she took Killian to before.
The woman nodded. "Oh, nice to meet you too." she replied, smiling. "What can I get you today?"
“Umm… I’m not sure. Killian brought me here because he said that you had good burgers.” Jade answered a little shyly.
Mrs Jones laughed. "Aye, that we do. So you'll have a burger? With what on it?"
Jade shrugged a little, not having expected that question. ”Umm… just classic style, I guess… Oh, but no onions, please.”
"Mhm. So, cheese and condiments? Tomato? Lettuce?" Mrs Jones asked.
”Yes, please.” she nodded with a small smile.
"Perfect. And Killian, you getting what you always do?" she asked, looking up at him with raised eyebrows.
He nodded. "Mhm."
”Thank you, ma’am.” Jade smiled politely but still a little shy.
"Of course." Mrs Jones replied. "I'll be right out with those, you two sit down."
Jade nodded a little and looked at Killian. ”Do you have a usual table?” she asked, half teasing.
He rolled his eyes. "Used to." he replied, shaking his head a little.
She raised a brow at his answer. ”Why is that?” she asked gently as she lead him to a random table.
"Mrs Jones…after all the shit that went down with my…dad, and then foster care afterwards…this was the one place where I…" he shrugged faintly, sitting down at the table.
Her eyes widened as she realized how much this place really meant to him. She went to the Chinese restaurant for comfort too, yes, but this place obviously was, at least, ten times more personal to him. ”Oh… I… I’m sorry.” she said softly.
He smiled a little at her. "Nothing for you to be sorry for." he replied.
She smiled softly back at him, though she still felt bad for what he had gone through.
He looked around the little restaurant quietly.
She sighed softly and rubbed the back of her neck as she felt a light blush come to her face.
"Mrs Jones…is the closest I have to…I don't know. A parent." He said after a moment, looking over at her.
”Oh…” she nodded a little. ”She seems very nice.”
He nodded, smiling faintly.
Jade suddenly felt a little more nervous, now that she knew she was meeting someone who Killian respected and looked up to. Potentially, even cared for… She had to take a deep breath to try to calm her mind.
Killian looked over at her. "Hey, don't be nervous."
