Not a movie, but Stranger Thing season 3 was incredibly disappointing and pretty horrible. Still, I stan ST and Alexi. I'm excited for season 4, but my standards have lowered greatly to my dismay.

oh my god YES. Like the whole Russians thing was kinda like…what the fuck? But I did love Robin and Alexei. I feel like they really fucked up Hopper's character, tho, and that makes me sad because he was my favorite character in the first two seasons :/

Thank you
They definetly ruined Hopper, and Joyce was like a whole different person. And yeah, the Russians were just there the whole time? I feel like they were going strong staying with one mysterious entity- the original lab. I am happy Murry Bauman's crackpot theories were correct, though. It was just.. cringy. Kinda threw away the first two seasons. They must've had different writers or something.

Oh god Joyce was weird as hell. Like i get she might have had PTSD from the whole…what happened to Will, but that doesn't explain her behavior at all. That wasn't PTSD behavior. Also I hated that they started focusing more on pairing off the mains, instead of on their friendships?? And it just…it didn't vibe right with me, the way that was portrayed. Like it was more important for all of us to know that Mike and El's relationship is in the dumps, than for us to see the gang all hanging out and having fun?? Tho i did love the friendship between El and Max, I adore Max

@ElderGod-Icefire

I agree. I miss the boys and El and Max just being kids instead of self appointed spies.

Y E S exactly. Like…I loved season one and two, but season three was a downer. And it's been confirmed that season four will play on the Russia angle again and I'm like :/

@berlioz

Yeah, I wish they'd focus more on the OG Lab, Dr. Brenner (he's not confirmed dead) and how El can do the things she can do.

@Althalosian-is-the-father book

also the word sassy is gross

right?? heaven forbid a woman stands up for herself on the regular that means she's ~sassy~ and ~playing around~ it's awful

it's like the most patronizing way to say 'not putting up with your shit' ever

exactly. and it's disproportionately applied to black and hispanic women and just sjfdhsdjkfhs like why not straight up say you don't respect someone

Tfw you have a sassy Mexican girl. I love her though. I don't think she's stereotypical though. (He begs) She has a backstory that directly relates to her actions. She's not just Sassy for the hell of it. Is afraid of doing a bad thing

…why the hell have i come back to this conversation?

IT'S MIRI'S FAULT!

it really isn't, I didn't start the convo, but go off

@croccin-champagne

from what i've seen of your writing and characters, dom, i'm p sure you pass. sassy is still a Gross Word but i get that it has synonyms often found in certain types of characters, and you actually put effort and thought into the way your characters act so

I get irrationally annoyed when I see dom is online

Why?

for some reason I don't really like dom these days

@croccin-champagne

more movie opinions, tw; rape mentions

  1. autopsy of jane doe was boring and failed on atmospheric terror

  2. i've said it before and i'll say it again(i just really need to keep repeating this because fuck hollywood, bear with me please). movies of any kind, prevalent in the horror genre though, that use rape to spurn a revenge plot need to stop

  3. speaking of, i spit on your grave, while having a metal ass title, was not a feminist horror movie. it was some guy's rape fantasy, that he added his worst nightmare to(a woman deciding that she wasn't going to just let a group of guys get away with you can guess what) to make it 'scary'

That's the one where most of the movie is the woman being raped, right?

she's kidnapped by these guys trying to get their mentally disabled virgin friend laid, raped repeatedly until they get him drunk and he finally agrees after refusing, and then she very Sexily lures all the men to their dooms yeah

there was that other one, i think it was the last house on the left or something that shared similar themes but more home invasion esque

Yeah I think it's Last House on the Left, I've heard of that one before
I know about a lot of nasty horror movies but I'll never watch them

@croccin-champagne

oh rape revenge plots are huge in horror movies directed by men as the only possible motivation for women. my biggest problem is probably how shittily written they are and how commonly it happens

I saw a video that said that the popularity of rape revenge movies is partly because it can have bloody intense murders, and since the people who are being murdered are bad, we don't have those flimsy moral hangups about it. It's hard to enjoy seeing a child be slowly chopped up with an ax, but not as much with a rapist.

@berlioz

this site’s not complete without dom honestly

Oh yay this brings me good feelings. Also I am glad the rest of you are glad when I come. My wish has come true.

The fact that this was a wish is cute.
