"No, I'm alright. You don't have to tell me if you don't want to." Lucas smiled softly.
"No, I'm alright. You don't have to tell me if you don't want to." Lucas smiled softly.
Melissa choked a little, feeling awful for not being able to tell him. "I- I mean… I just don't think you'd be that interested." She offered with a light shrug.
Lucas nodded, continuing to walk. "It's fine, really. You don't have to tell me anything you don't want to."
Feeling like she was offending or hurting him, Melissa started to panic a bit in her explanation. "But- it's not that I don't want to- I just… can't?"
"Melissa, it's okay, really." Lucas smiled softly to reassure her. "It's alright. Let's just go get ice cream and forget about it."
Nodding just a little bit, she stopped her rambling. "Sorry…" Melissa apologized in a quiet tone as they walked.
"It's fine." Lucas gently kissed Melissa's cheek and kept walking forward.
"It shouldn't be too far from the park.. are we still going there, after we get ice cream?" Melissa asked, resting her head on his shoulder.
"Sure, if you want to. Are you sure you don't want to stop by home to drop off the pizza, though?" He asked.
"I- no, it's fine. I don't mind carrying it." Melissa hummed, coming up to a crosswalk. "We just won't be able to hold hands, once we get ice cream."
"Well, we can eat the ice cream in the shop so we don't have to carry it… then we can still hold hands."
"Mm, that's true." Melissa hummed, swinging their arms back and forth a little. "That's the smartest option."
Lucas nodded a bit, humming softly. "Are we close to the shop?" He asked.
Glancing around their current location, she nodded a little. "Yeah, it's up ahead. Right around the corner, once we get up there."
"Alright." Lucas kept walking and turned the corner. "There it is!" He grinned, looking up at the sign.
Melissa laughed a little at his enthusiasm, picking up her pace. "Come on, cutie. Let's get you some ice cream."
Lucas blushed and huffed a bit, pouting. He let Melissa pull him inside and looked around, his eyes wide with awe and curiosity.
The small shop had soft grey colored walls, with light blue trimming. The booths and tables were all white, matching the counters up front. "Mm… it smells amazing in here." Melissa hummed softly as they were flooded by vanilla and a mix of other scents.
"Mhmm." Lucas was smiling happily as he looked around, trying to take it all in. "I like it~" He purred.
"I'll have to get some vanilla perfume, then." Melissa hummed, leading him up to the ice cream display.
Lucas looked at all the ice cream, clearly intrigued. "What should I get, Mel?"
Glancing between him and the display, she pursed her lips in thought. "Well, I'm getting black berry. So there's that. But you don't have to get the same as me."
"Hmm…" Lucas looked at all the flavors. "Is the lemon sorbet any good?" He asked Melissa softly.
"Lemon Sorbet? I mean, if you like Lemonade, it's pretty similar. So yeah, I think it's good." Melissa hummed, reaching up with her free hand to run her fingers through his hair.
"I might get that, then…" Lucas relaxed a bit when Melissa touched his hair, continuing to look at the flavors.
Melissa paused for a moment, as she glanced over at the waitress. "I think they give samples." She offered in a soft tone.
Lucas nodded and looked up at the waitress. "Um… hi! Would you mind if I tried the lemon sorbet?" He asked softly. She smiled and grabbed him a sample. "Thank you!" He tried it and seemed pleased. "Can I have… um…" He looked up at the menu to see how to order. "One… scoop? Of that, please."
Nodding a little, the cashier put in his order before turning to Melissa. "I'll have one scoop of blackberry, please." Melissa hummed, smiling softly. The lady nodded, giving a smile back. "That's six-fifty." She hummed, watching as Melissa pulled a ten from her wallet. Once she had given the correct amount of change back. "I'm assuming you liked it?" Melissa asked Lucas softly, glancing between him and the lady.
"Mhmm!" Lucas thanked the waitress and accepted his scoop of ice cream from her. "It's really nice! Do you wanna try?"
Melissa gave him a little smile, reaching out for hers. "Thank you." As they started towards a table, she looked back up at him. "I would, actually. If you don't mind, that is."
