"Yep! Just a second, I'll grab them for you." She left the room and soon returned with a small pile of papers. It only consisted of about four or five sheets. "It looks longer than it is, I promise. It's just saying that they've got all their vaccinations and such. You'll just have to sign on the lines."
"Alright, I can do that. After all the paperwork I do, what's a little more got on me?" Mr. Brennahan joked a bit, taking a pen and started reading over them. "I'm assuming there's some form of payment, correct?"
"Mhmm. I typically take card since it's more convenient for everyone." She laughed. "But cash is fine too. The price should be on the last paper, if I remember correctly…" Lucas sat down on the floor with the puppy, smiling brightly.
"I have checks, if you'll take that. If not, I can do whatever works best for you." Mr. Brennahan hummed, signing the first paper. Melissa glanced down at Lucas, smiling softly. She sat down next to him and leaned over to rest her head on his shoulder. "Whatcha thinking about?" She asked softly, resting a hand on his leg.
"Yes, checks are totally fine." Ms. Goldman smiled softly. Lucas looked over at Melissa when she addressed him. "Mm… mostly name ideas, to be honest."
(Since it’s Father’s Day, I feel the need to draw Mr. Brennahan and Lucas together.)
“Once I get this all signed, I’ll go ahead and write you one.” Mr Brennahan hummed a little, pushing his glasses up on his nose. Melissa gave Lucas a light smile, kissing his cheek. “What were you thinking? Any specific names?”
(Yessss)
"I think I might go with Rocky, actually… or Milo, maybe… Charlie or Cody could be good as well…" Lucas hummed thoughtfully.
(I'll probably do one with Lucas and him, and one with Melissa and him. Probably not all today.)
"Goodness, I'm surprised we're not walking out of here with ten puppies." Melissa teased a little, thinking over the names he had said. "I like Cody and Rocky the best, out of those. But that's just my opinion."
(Yissss)
"Yeah, yeah… I'm responsible." Lucas stuck his tongue out playfully, holding the puppy close. "I know we can't handle ten puppies."
"You can barely handle yourself sometimes. Ten puppies would be more than just not being able to handle them." Melissa hummed a little, pulling back a little. "Could… could I hold him?"
Lucas rolled his eyes at Melissa's first comment and nodded at her question. "Yeah, of course." He carefully transferred the puppy to Melissa's arms.
Smiling a little, she gently started to pet the small puppy in her arms. "He's so cute. It's rather unfair, in my opinion." Melissa hummed as she gently stroked the pup's dark fur.
"Mhmm. And he's even fluffier than the other four." Lucas smiled softly and rubbed the puppy's belly, which it seemed to like.
She nodded lightly before glancing up to him. "I don't know if he's fluffier than you, though. You might have him beat." Melissa replied in a mostly teasing tone.
Lucas stuck his tongue out playfully. "Yeah, yeah… whatever you say, darling." The puppy yawned with a soft whine and stretched out his paws.
Melissa couldn't keep from laughing lightly, grinning from ear to ear. "He's so cute…" She repeated softly, scratching under his chin.
"Mhmm~…" Lucas kept petting the puppy while Mr. Brennahan and Ms. Goldman worked through the paperwork and chatted a bit.
After about ten minutes, Mr. Brennahan had signed a check and handed it over to Ms. Goldman with a little smile. "Alright you two, paperwork is all signed. Thank you again, Jennifer."
"No problem! Have a wonderful day!" She waved, smiling brightly. Lucas got to his feet and adjusted his hold on the puppy, thanking Ms. Goldman as well.
Giving a light nod, Mr. Brennahan headed out the door back down to the car. "Thank you Ms. Goldman!" Melissa chirped. following Lucas out with a wave. "I can't believe we got a puppy. Like, this isn't a dream, right?"
(You don't happen to have a reference for just Lucas, do you? Drawing, or face-claim?)
"Um… I-I don't think so??" Lucas replied, looking down at the puppy in his arms. "I'm like, at least 75% sure that this guy is real."
(I've drawn him before with Melissa, hold on)
Melissa smiled lightly, pulling the back door open. "I guess we'll have to wait until we wake up. After you," She chirped a little as she waited for him to get in.
(Take your time!)
(I can't find the drawing hhh qwq I can make a quick doodle tho)
Lucas stepped into the car and buckled himself in before setting the puppy back down into his lap. It yawned and rolled over onto its back.
(You’re totally good. You don’t have to, as I think I have a basic idea out, just thought I’d ask!)
Melissa smiled a little, sliding in next to him. “Make sure not to let the little guy go. We don’t want him sliding around the back of the car.” Mr. Brennahan said lightly, starting the car once both of them were in.
"I've got him, don't worry." Lucas held the puppy close, smiling softly. He fell quiet for the moment, content to just enjoy the silence.
(Too late lol, you get a quick phone doodle with slightly incorrect colors)
(Lol, thank you!)
Melissa smiled softly, buckling herself into place before resting her head on his shoulder. "Good, I don't want to lose him." She hummed softly, relaxing against him.
(Np :>)
"Me either…" Lucas rested his head against Melissa's and sighed happily, closing his eyes. He held the puppy close to his chest to keep it secure.
Melissa gave a light smile in return, reaching out to pet the puppy's small head. "Did you pick a favorite name?"
