"Yeah… it's actually a pretty far walk, but that's okay. I got used to it." Lucas shrugged, glancing around to see if he could find the diner.
"Yeah… it's actually a pretty far walk, but that's okay. I got used to it." Lucas shrugged, glancing around to see if he could find the diner.
Melissa glanced up at him, smiling a little. "I mean, you didn't really have another option."
"True." Lucas hummed thoughtfully, glancing over at the road when a car passed by. "It wasn't so bad, though. Kept me fit."
Nodding a little, studying his face. "That's true… and then baseball also kept you in shape. You're all fit and healthy, with those muscles of yours." Melissa joked a little, pulling up a smile.
Lucas flushed red and looked away. "I-I… ah… right…" He stammered. "I mean, I probably don't eat enough to not be super scrawny."
"I'm teasing you. It would be weird to see you with 'big' muscles." Melissa hummed, wrapping her arm around his waist.
"Y-Yeah…" Lucas hid his red face in Melissa's shoulder. "I like to think I'm more… um… 'lithe' than overly muscular."
Melissa smiled softly, resting her head against his. "You know… you should be a superhero. You've got a tragic backstory, you're always getting beat up, and you look less powerful than you are… wait- are you a superhero?"
Lucas flushed harder and laughed weakly. "Mmm… maybe. What powers would I even have?" He asked softly.
Shrugging a little, she smiled at his flushed face. "I dunno. Maybe spider-man like powers." Melissa hummed softly.
"I'll be average man. The guy who doesn't actually have any powers, but he sure does have the other superhero stuff!"
"Ahh yes, sounds like a good plan. Then you don't actually have to fight anymore crime… which is a good thing. I think I'd probably die, or always be in mortal danger if you were a superhero." Melissa added on in a mumble.
Lucas laughed a bit. "Yeah. No thanks. I'll stick to just being Lucas for now." He looked into shop windows as they passed by, humming softly.
"Oh thank god, I'm not ready to die." Melissa laughed as well, keeping up a light smile. "It should be right up here."
"I wouldn't let you die, darling." Lucas smiled softly and kissed Melissa again. He glanced up, noticing the sign for the diner.
"Mm, happy to hear that you would protect me." Melissa trilled in a soft tone. "I'll do the best I can to do the same."
"Sounds good to me. Ready for lunch?" He asked, pushing open the door of the diner.
"Oh- yeah." Melissa hummed, walking in and pulling him with her. "You're ready too, I'm assuming?"
"Yeah, I'm starving." Lucas laughed, letting Melissa drag him along. "What kinda stuff do they have here?" He asked.
"Ummm," Melissa glanced up at the wall, before shrugging a little. "Normal, American food?" She offered with a little smile.
"Sounds good to me." Lucas grinned. He led Melissa over to a table for two by the window before looking at the menu.
Once sitting at the table, Melissa started scanning over her menu that was lying on the table. Quite frankly, she really wasn't too hungry. "Would you be upset if I got something smaller for lunch?"
"No. Maybe we could share something?" He offered, perusing the menu with a thoughtful hum.
“Lu, just because I’m not that hungry doesn’t mean you can’t eat.” Melissa said softly, lifting her head to look up at him.
"Hmm? No, no, I'm gonna eat… I thought we could get something big and share. Then you don't have to eat as much."
“Oh, that makes sense. What would we get?” Melissa asked with a slight hum. “Or better yet, what do you want?”
"Um… we could always share a pizza?" He offered. "Then we could both eat as much as we want and save the rest for leftovers. Pizza usually heats back up well."
“That’s true. If that sounds good to you, then I’m happy with that.” Melissa hummed, resting her hand on his with a smile. “It’s your birthday.”
Lucas smiled softly and held onto Melissa's hand. "Is there anything in particular you'd want on the pizza? I'm fine with anything."
Melissa shook her head a little, glancing up at him. "No, I don't have a preference. You get what you want."
