Melissa mirrored him by nodding, sitting back in her seat to watch him. "Tell me if I can do anything." She whispered, leaning on her palm.
Melissa mirrored him by nodding, sitting back in her seat to watch him. "Tell me if I can do anything." She whispered, leaning on her palm.
Lucas glanced up at Melissa and reached out to hold her hand. "I'm sorry…" He whispered again in reply.
Smiling, she reached out too to take it. "You don't have to be. Even if you do make a mistake, I'll have already forgiven you."
Lucas flushed lightly and nodded, lacing his fingers with Melissa's. He closed his eyes again and sighed shakily.
"You're gonna be alright… you just need to relax. Think about something you like." Melissa whispered, running her thumb over his hand.
"Something I like?" Lucas opened his eyes again and looked over at Melissa. He watched her quietly, still tapping one foot.
When he looked over at her, she felt a flush creep up on her face. "Lu…" Melissa whined, turning her head away.
Lucas smiled weakly. "What, Mel? You're like, my favorite thing in the world. Favorite person, rather."
Pouting just a bit, she looked back over to him. “Fine… but now I’m turning into you…” Melissa sighed, leaning over and kissing his hand gently.
"Hey, I'm not the only person in the world he blushes." Lucas's smile softened and he tightened his grip on Melissa a bit.
“But I don’t think anyone else in the world blushes as much as you do.” Melissa joked, relaxing at the grip he held on to her with.
Lucas stuck his tongue out playfully. "I can't help it… I'm pale and very sensitive to compliments."
“Baseball should help with the pale… but I don’t think it’ll help with the compliments.” Melissa hummed, smiling a bit. “Guess I have to keep doing it until you’re use to it.”
Lucas huffed and blushed a bit, looking away. "I don't think I'll ever be used to it, to be honest…"
"I'm sure you will… it might take awhile, but things take time." Melissa hummed, loosening her hold on his hand. "Maybe start complimenting yourself."
"W-What?" Lucas looked up at Melissa, confused. "But… b-but I… I can't do that! That'd be lying!"
"Then make it not a lie." Melissa hummed, giving him a soft smile. "Tell yourself when you look nice. Or when you notice your improvement on something, tell yourself you're doing better."
Lucas flushed again, clearly taken aback and bewildered at the idea. "B-But I… I… um…" He stammered weakly, unable to find a good argument.
"I do it too. Sometimes at least." Melissa said softly, resting her chin on her palms. "It helps. Trust me, it really does."
Lucas fidgeted a bit, considering. "I… um… I-I can try, I guess…?"
"If it doesn't work, oh well. But you were at least trying." Melissa said softly, glancing over to him. "And that's all I ask."
Lucas nodded weakly. "Alright, Mel…" He sighed and looked up when the lesson started.
(Shall we skim over the next few classes until lunch?)
(Sure lol)
As the next couple classes came and went, Melissa had managed to lose Lucas. Of course, he had his own classes to go to, but it felt odd. They had been together none stop for the past week and a half… it felt quite odd to not know where he was. So she quietly kept a look out for him, making her way to the cafeteria.
Lucas spotted Melissa in the crowd and headed over to meet her. "Melissa!" He waved to get her attention.
Melissa perked up a bit, seeing him off a little bit. Quite briskly she made her way over to him with a gentle smile. “Hey! How was class?”
"Pretty good. You?" Lucas smiled softly and took Melissa's hand.
“Alright I guess… it was odd without you there.” Melissa hummed, softening her smile. “But I’m gonna have to get use to that.”
"Yeah… we'll be together pretty much the rest of the time, so we'll manage." Lucas smiled and kissed Melissa softly.
