“Oh- yeah, of course. I just meant with the ball.” Melissa laughed a bit, smiling down at him. “It was mostly a joke, though I’d prefer not to get hit in the face with a baseball.”
“Oh- yeah, of course. I just meant with the ball.” Melissa laughed a bit, smiling down at him. “It was mostly a joke, though I’d prefer not to get hit in the face with a baseball.”
Lucas nodded, breathing a quiet sigh of relief. "Yeah, of course… I'll try my very best, Melissa."
Her smile dropped a bit as she gave him a worried look. “Did you think, that I really thought you would purposely hurt me? Because you know I would never… right?”
"W-Well I really hoped not. I want you to always feel safe around me, Mel." Lucas replied softly.
Melissa gave his hand a gentle squeeze, nodding a bit. "I do. I promise you, I really do."
Lucas nodded as well. "I'm glad, Mel… you know how I hate seeing you upset. I love you too much for that."
“Oh god… you’re gonna make me cry.” Melissa laughed weakly, looking down at him. “You’re too sweet for words… I love you so much.”
Lucas flushed again and looked away sheepishly. "Heh… don't cry, Mel. You know I always start crying too. And there's no way you love me as much as I love you."
Smiling softly, she went back to petting him. “Well, I love you a lot. I’ll do my best to keep from crying.” Melissa whispered glancing off in the same direction as him.
Lucas soon closed his eyes again and relaxed. "Mmmm… love you so much Mel…"
She smiled weakly in reply, leaning back in to the trunk of the tree. Honestly, she found it tedious to repeat herself. But with those simple words, she would probably say it a thousand times if she was able. "Love you too…"
Lucas yawned a bit and relaxed again, seeming very happy to be here. "Sorry I keep saying it, but I can't help it…"
"Don't be sorry, that's something I don't want you ever to apologize about. Hearing you say you love me, that's something I love to hear you say." Melissa mumbled, running her thumb over his knuckles.
Lucas smiled softly and looked up at her from where he was laying. "I just want to make sure I don't annoy you with my affection."
"Trust me," She started, not looking down at him as she spoke. "You could never annoy me with affection. I love it, and you too much."
"I love you too, Mel." Lucas grinned and sighed happily. "How long do you wanna stay in the clearing?"
"I dunno," Melissa shrugged glancing at him. "Depends what you're thinking." She hummed, not really caring how long they stayed.
"Well, we should probably be back before dinner at least. But I'm fine with whatever." Lucas shrugged.
"Yeah… my dad said be back before dark. So that sounds reasonable." Melissa hummed, pecking his lips.
Lucas nodded, returning the kiss before lying back down. "We could go exploring again if you'd like."
"You sound like you want to get up. If you want to, we can, but otherwise I'm perfectly content sitting here." Melissa told him, continuing to pet his head.
"Not necessarily, I just figured you wouldn't want to be stuck here sitting for hours." Lucas shrugged, leaning into Melissa's touch.
Melissa smiled softly at his offer, but shook her head before speaking. "Well, maybe in a little bit. But for right now, I'm alright."
Lucas nodded. "Alright, Mel… just let me know if you wanna get up and move or something."
"Will do, Lucas." Melissa hummed as she sunk back in to her thoughts. "Maybe in a few minutes, we could play a game."
"What kind of game?" Lucas asked curiously, looking up at Melissa again.
"I dunno… tag, hide and seek. Something like that." Melissa offered, trying to think of games similar to those.
"Alright, sure. If you want to." Lucas yawned and closed his eyes again, relaxing in Melissa's arms.
Smiling softly, she gently traced his lower lip with her thumb. "I would like it, if you're okay with it."
"Of course I am, Mel…" Lucas smiled softly and shifted a little bit closer to Melissa.
