"Well, clearly that pays off. I'm a little bit jealous of your skill. I just never found the time to draw…" She hummed softly, gently resting her head on his.
"Well, clearly that pays off. I'm a little bit jealous of your skill. I just never found the time to draw…" She hummed softly, gently resting her head on his.
"I mean, I'd say I can teach you, but really it's not something you can learn. There's techniques and stuff that are helpful, but it's mostly a practice thing."
"Mm, and I probably would. But I don't really ever have free time. This was my one relaxing week, before school started." Melissa mumbled, sighing weakly. "And then I won't really have any free time."
"Sorry your relaxing week hasn't been very relaxing." Lucas laughed softly and returned to his drawing.
"It's fine… I quite enjoy being with you. You're plenty relaxing for me." She whispered, giving a gentle smile. "So don't sweat it."
"I'm glad you think so, Mel, but I feel like I probably cause you a lot of worry and stress."
"And if you want the truth, yeah you did. But it's alright. I got to spend the last week of summer vacation with you. It's been wonderful." Melissa insisted.
Lucas smiled weakly and kept doodling. "I'm sorry, Mel. I wish I could do as much to help you as you do for me."
"You're doing it. You're alright, and you're here with me." She whispered, kissing the top of his head. "How much more can I ask of you?"
Lucas shrugged. "I dunno, but I feel like simply existing isn't enough to pay you back for all you've done for me…"
Sighing softly, Melissa started petting his head. "I don't really feel like I've done that much for you."
"You've done so much, Mel… you help me through these attacks, put up with me, let me live in your house, give me food and stuff…"
"But that just feels… natural to me. It doesn't feel like anything special." She tried to insist, looking down at him.
"It really is special though, Mel. No one else ever did that for me. No one else cared."
"I- I know that. I just… it still feels natural to me. I don't understand why other people weren't there for you." Melissa whispered, really not seeming to grasp the concept fully.
Lucas shrugged. "I never mentioned it and no one else cared to notice. I'm sure I was showing some signs of stuff going on, but most people wouldn't want to get involved."
She was still pretty numb to the whole concept, she just wasn't believing it. "I really, really don't know why they wouldn't. You're the sweetest guy I know…"
Lucas smiled weakly. "I'm glad you think so, Mel, but most people don't want more on their plate and I'm kind of a burden…"
"Well I disagree. You might be a bit of a handful, but you're not a burden." She whispered, rubbing his leg tenderly. "I really care about you."
"I really care about you too, Mel… and by being a handful, I am kind of a burden."
Melissa huffed, giving up trying to convince him otherwise. He was dead set on it, and she didn't want to argue with him. "Alright, whatever you say."
Lucas smiled weakly and lay his head on Melissa's shoulder. "I love you~" He purred.
"Love you too, blondie." Melissa hummed, kissing the top of his head. "Nothing will change that."
"Mm… what time is it?" Lucas asked. "It feels like it's been a while…"
"It's barely after six." She said softly, remembering from when she checked the time about five minutes ago. "We've got a long time until 'bedtime'." Melissa joked, resting her head on his.
"Ugh… but I'm so tired now that I'm not distracted." Lucas sighed softly, relaxing against Melissa.
"I mean, we could go to bed. But it's kinda early. I feel like you'd be up all night, if we went to bed now."
"Yeah, probably… what should we do until then?" Lucas asked softly.
"I mean, we could watch a movie, or play a game of some sort. Or possibly sit up on the roof." She offered suggestions, adjusting her position. "But we could also just sit here and talk."
"The roof would be nice… it's nice and quiet there. Should I bring anything with me?" Lucas asked.
