"Only if you want to. I'm happy to just sit with you, but I won't stop you from bringing your sketchbook." She told him, softly petting the top of his head.
"Only if you want to. I'm happy to just sit with you, but I won't stop you from bringing your sketchbook." She told him, softly petting the top of his head.
Lucas nodded. "But like, if you actually want to have a conversation with me, I should probably leave it." He laughed softly.
"But you're happy when you're drawing. I like seeing you when you're happy." She insisted, gently lifting his head so she could stand.
"True, but I tend to kinda… um… get very engrossed in what I'm doing." Lucas stood with her and grabbed his sketchbook just in case.
"I know that, but you're still happy." Melissa whispered, leaning over to kiss his cheek.
Lucas nodded. "Well, try and get my attention if you ever want to actually talk."
"Will do. Though I'm happy being in your presence. It's nice." Melissa hummed, leading him up the stairs.
Lucas smiled softly and followed Melissa upstairs to her room. "But still. I don't wanna be completely distant."
Melissa glanced back at him, pushing her door open when they got to it. "Can I cuddle up next to you?" She asked softly, loosening her hold on his hand.
"Yeah, sure. If you want to." Lucas kept smiling, letting Melissa pull him up to the roof. "That won't bother me."
Pushing her closet door open, she slid the few shirts aside before starting up the wooden ladder. "Then I'll be fine." She hummed, smiling back at Lucas.
"Sounds good." Lucas followed Melissa up onto the roof with his sketchbook tucked under his arm.
Once up on the roof, Melissa let out a soft sigh. It was nice outside, and quite pretty. The sun had just set, leaving a soft pink-purple tint behind. "Gosh… outside can be so gorgeous."
"Mhmm." Lucas sat down on the roof and sighed softly as well. He pulled out his sketchbook and pencil and contemplated what to draw.
When he sat down, she sat next to him and spread her legs out. Once in place, she rested her head in his lap with a soft smile. “If I’m in your way, just say so.”
"You're fine… might be kinda hard for you to watch me draw, though, since I'll have to hold it instead of putting it in my lap." Lucas shrugged.
"That's alright, I was watching you concentrate more than anything. But if you're going to be uncomfortable, I seriously don't mind moving." Melissa insisted, reaching up to run her thumb over his bottom lip.
"I don't mind. It may not work long term, though, so it's up to you." He shrugged again and started sketching something.
"Then maybe just for a little bit…" Melissa hummed in a soft tone, looking up at him with a smile. "I'll move in a couple minutes."
"Alright." Lucas continued drawing. He had a habit of mimicking whatever expression he was drawing, albeit to a milder extent most of the time, so he had a soft smile on his face at the moment.
His smile made her smile, just as gently. She hadn't notice the fact he mirrored the expression, but right now she didn't care. He was smiling, and looked happy.
Lucas continued sketching, occasionally glancing down at Melissa while he did so. He hummed softly to himself while he added more details.
Melissa kept a fond smile up, content to just sit here with him. Intermittently she found herself gazing up at the few visible stars. 'Just as pretty as always…'
Lucas yawned a bit as he continued scratching at the paper with his pencil. "We'll have to go in at some point, love… it'll get dark."
The sound of his voice brought her out of her thoughts. "It's already, kind of dark." Melissa hummed, shifting her gaze on to his face. "But if you're sleepy, we can head in now. I don't wanna keep you out."
"I'm alright, Mel… I'm just thinking it might get kinda hard to see." Lucas glanced up at the darkening sky.
Pushing herself up into a sitting position, she glanced back at him. "I mean… true. You probably shouldn't be drawing in the dark."
Lucas stretched and yawned again. "I've done it before, but it doesn't usually go well." He closed his sketchbook and dragged himself to his feet.
"But it's not good for your eyes, Lu." Melissa told him, unable to keep from yawning herself.
"I know, I know… I didn't anyways have a choice, though. I mean, if I wanted to draw and not get caught, that is."
