"It's not. I'm happy to follow you around, Mel." Lucas smiled softly and followed her, sitting outside her room when they got there.
"It's not. I'm happy to follow you around, Mel." Lucas smiled softly and followed her, sitting outside her room when they got there.
Quickly changing and getting ready, she listened to make sure he was still outside her door as she did so. Melissa was trying to be quick, so he wouldn't feel tempted on anything. She would rather be safe then sorry.
Lucas fidgeted nervously once he was alone, his knees drawn up tightly to his chest. He stared at the ground and closed his eyes with a soft sigh.
As soon as she was ready, she pulled the door open slowly. "Lu?" Melissa called out softly, glancing to his place on the floor. "I'm right here… what's wrong?"
"Mm?" Lucas glanced up at Melissa. "Oh… I'm fine. I just didn't know how long you were gonna be so I sat down…" He dragged himself to his feet and sighed.
“Are you sure?” Melissa asked softly, taking his hand to link their fingers. “If there’s something else, you can tell me.”
"I mean, I'm still not in a great mental state right now… nothing new, though. Just still a bit iffy. I'm sure the park will fix it."
“Alright… if you’re sure.” She hummed before pecking his lips. “Let me go tell my dad we’re headed out.”
"I'm sure…" Lucas followed Melissa down the hall, not trusting himself to be left alone at the moment.
“It’ll take me two seconds, tops.” Melissa nodded as she ducked in to the room. Rather quietly, she walked up to the bed with a soft smile. Shaking her fathers arm gently, he looked up to her in a lazy state of sleep. “Hmmm?” He asked her in a groan, sitting up just a bit. “Me and Lucas were gonna go to the park… that’s alright, right?” Melissa asked softly.
Lucas watched her from the hall, starting to fidget again as soon as she left his side. He honestly just felt safer having someone else with him, especially if that someone was Melissa.
Nodding sleepily, Mr. Brennahan flopped back in to the sheets and got comfortable once more. "Sure… just be back before dinner." Rolling her eyes with a soft smile, she started to turn around. "Yes sir, I'm bringing my phone if you need to get a hold of me… or vise versa." With that said, she came back out in the hall and quietly pulled the door shut.
Lucas smiled softly and took Melissa's hand again once the door was closed. "Let's head out…" He started walking down the hall and headed towards the door.
Smiling right back at him, she tried to match his pace as he led her on. "Are you feeling any more awake, then before?" Melissa asked softly, trying not to start something.
"Um… yeah, a little bit, I think." He pushed open the door when they reached it and led Melissa outside, relaxing a little when the fresh air brushed his face.
Seeming him relax, made her relax just a bit. "That's good…" With nothing else to say, she came closer to him and slipped her arm around his waist.
Lucas blushed a little and kissed Melissa's cheek softly before he continued walking in the direction of the park.
With the blue sky hanging above them, and the sun pulling up from behind the clouds, it felt like a nice day. Summer was coming to an end, so it was a little cooler than usual. But of course, it was still nice outside. "I don't like the cold, but I do like fall…"
"Fall is probably my favorite season." Lucas sighed contentedly and enjoyed the cooler weather. "It's been insanely hot outside recently. This is definitely a welcome change."
"See, I like summer the most. Fall is my second favorite." Melissa hummed, knowing was just a stupid conversation. But of course, she felt the need to argue her point.
Lucas shrugged. "To each their own. I typically like every season but summer because I don't have to be in the house as much, but maybe I'll like it better now."
"Oh… right." Melissa mumbled, resting her head on his shoulder. It seemed like all she could think of talking about, lead to something about his family. She just really hoped it didn't bother him too bad.
Lucas kept his mind as clear as possible as he kept walking, holding Melissa close to himself. "I think we're almost there, Mel…"
Clearing her mind of the foggy thoughts, she took in her surroundings with a nod. "Yeah, it's up the street." She mumbled a bit, before sinking back in to her thoughts once more.
"You okay, Mel?" Lucas asked softly, glancing over at Melissa as he led her ever closer to the forest.
Melissa pushed her thoughts away fully, lifting her head up. "Just worried about you… nothing major." She shrugged as she replied, smiling softly.
Lucas nodded tentatively and turned into the park. "Sorry for worrying you, Mel… is it something in particular?"
She shook her head softly. "No, I'm just worried about you." Humming just a bit, she picked up the pace once they were on their way to the clearing.
"Alright, I suppose that's fair…" Lucas stepped into the clearing and immediately relaxed, sighing softly in content. "Let's sit on the ground today, hmm?"
"Still shaken from last night?" Melissa asked with a raised brow. Coming up to the tree, she leaned back against the tree before sitting herself. "Or is it something else?"
