"I," Pausing for a second, she laced their finger and ticked the tip of his nose. "Will leave that up to you."
"I," Pausing for a second, she laced their finger and ticked the tip of his nose. "Will leave that up to you."
"Well, I dunno, Mel. What kind of game were you thinking of playing to begin with?" Lucas asked.
"Originally, I was thinking like tag. Maybe hide-and-seek." Melissa hummed, walking backward and pulling him along. "We don't have to play a game, we can just start heading back."
"I'm happy to play a game if you want to, Mel. Let's say… hide and seek. Would you prefer to hide or look?"
Using his hand to spin her around, she hummed in thought. "I don't really care, but I can hide first."
"Alright, Mel. Let's say the tree is the starting point." Lucas smiled softly and closed his eyes, leaning against the tree and beginning to count.
As soon as he started counting, she quietly walked off to hide. Melissa knew if she ran he would figure out where she went. With this in mind, she tried to keep as quiet as she could.
Lucas counted to fifty and then turned. "Ready or not, here I come!" He called out, starting to walk around the clearing.
Melissa had made her way deeper into the trees, finding an easy one to climb. She was up higher, but had made sure the branches were strong enough to hold her so she wouldn't fall. Once stable up in the tree, she fell quiet so she could listen for Lucas coming.
Lucas glanced around the middle of the clearing briefly before he started trailing around the outskirts. He walked slowly and kept quiet so he could listen for any movements from Melissa.
Melissa probably looked rather strange, peering through the branches of the tree. She was a teenager, anxiously awaiting Lucas to find her. So maybe not a little strange, a lot strange. But she couldn't care less. No one else should be able to see her right now anyways.
"Oh, darling~" Lucas called out as he walked by, his voice a crooning purr. "Where are you~?" He was trying to think of some way to make her laugh and give herself away.
Rolling her eyes, she smiled softly as she watched him approach her. Whether he had found her or not, was a mystery. He could be just teasing her, or actually still be looking for her.
"Milady? My damsel in distress?" Lucas purred, leaning back against a tree as he hummed.
'You little rat…' Melissa would have laughed, but she had picked up on what he was trying to do. Pulling a hand up to her mouth, she tried so hard not to laugh.
"Daaaaarling~?" Lucas rapped on the bark of the tree he was leaning against with his knuckles. "Anyone home?" He strolled over to another tree, grinning like an idiot.
Melissa started gnawing on her bottom lip, watching him. 'You're killing me, Lu.' Sighing very weakly, she watched his grin pull up on his lips. "It's actually kinda creepy, if you change the setting…" Melissa mumbled, feeling a shiver run up her spine.
Lucas glanced up at the soft noises and made his way towards Melissa's tree. "Darling? You up there~?"
Her breath caught in her throat, the anxious feeling rising up. Her heart was pounding hard in her chest. It was so odd how nervous she was.
Lucas grinned and looked up into the tree. "Found you, darling~" He purred, pressing himself up against the tree trunk.
Sighing just a bit, she kept her smile up. "Fineee, you win." Melissa hummed, leaning down off the branch. "Though you're a cheater."
"How am I a cheater, Mel?" Lucas asked, still grinning. He pulled himself up onto a low branch.
"You were trying to make me laugh, that's how." Melissa hummed, unable to actually be mad at him. "With all that name calling, I would have thought you liked me or something."
Lucas gasped dramatically and held a hand over his chest, mock offended. "Why, that sounds nothing like me. What a bold assumption, milady."
"Why that's why I said." Melissa joked along, adjusting her tone to match her words. "I've been told I make the boldest of assumptions."
"I may be many things, but a cheater I am not." Lucas crossed his arms and huffed dramatically, clearly still joking.
"Oh dear, I have offended my mister." Melissa sighed, holding a hand up to her lips. "Whatever shall I do to fix this predicament?"
"Hmph. A kiss would be nice." Lucas climbed up a bit higher to be closer to Melissa.
"Would it be?" Melissa asked, climbing down the branches. "I don't know if I can do that much. That seems rather difficult."
"Oh, dear… I suppose I'll have to leave then, hmm?" Lucas sat down on the branch he was on, crossing his arms again.
