"I love you too, Mel…" Lucas matched her smile and relaxed, listening to the gentle sway of the willow branches. "I could stay here forever with you…"
(Ooh… I’ll have to check it out.)
(It's a bop)
Melissa felt her face grow warm, as she stared out at the branches as well. "Do you really mean that?" She asked him softly, her green eyes trailing a path back to his face.
"Yeah, of course I do… I don't say things I don't mean, Mel." He kissed her cheek sweetly. "I love you, and I love this place almost as much."
She smiled shyly, biting onto her lip softly. "Yeah… I should know that by now." Melissa hummed softly, leaning in to his arms.
Lucas returned the smile and hugged her tightly. "I don't know where I'd be without you, Melissa…"
"You might not be…" She whispered, tracing circles into his arm. "But I'm here, so you are."
"Mhmm…" Lucas gently kissed Melissa again. "You're definitely right there. But let's not worry about that now, hmm?"
"I don't know where I'd be right now, if you weren't here." Melissa mumbled after pulling back from his lips. "Not eating… that's for sure."
"Well, we're gonna fix that, aren't we?" Lucas smiled reassuringly. "You're gorgeous just the way you are. You don't need to change yourself at all."
Face coloring a soft pink, Melissa kept her gaze trained on her face. "You really don't have to say things like that." She whispered, her voice stuck in the back of her throat as she spoke.
"Yes, I do. I have to make sure you know how much I adore you, Melissa." Lucas gently kissed her cheek. "You're perfect just how you are."
At his statement, Melissa tried to keep from laughing. "I'm far from perfect." She disagreed, not seeming upset about it. "But if that's what you want to believe, you can't argue when I say you're perfect."
Lucas pouted a bit. "You're perfect to me. I'm far less perfect than you are, Mel." He sighed softly and rested his head on her shoulder again.
"But you are. You're everything, even when you have a bad family situation." Melissa began, slowly running her fingers through his hair. "Everything that you're in control of, is practically perfect."
Lucas blushed and hid his face, but it was hard to be upset with her petting him like this. "L-Like what, Mel? What am I in control of?"
"Baseball, and drawing… singing…" She began to list things off, lightly twisting his blonde hair around her finger. "I'd keep going, but I don't want you to malfunction."
Lucas was obviously very red by now, as expected. He whined softly, his voice muffled from his face being hidden. "Nooooo…"
"Too late." She laughed softly, leaning her head against his. "Come on, that wasn't that bad. You talk about things like that a lot. Why is me stating them any different?"
"I-I dunno… I guess I'm just so used to people saying negative things about me that I kinda just… well, like you said, I kinda malfunction at any positive reinforcement…"
Smiling softly, she hummed continuing to play with his hair. “Well, you should get use to it.” Melissa purred nuzzling his cheek with her nose. “I’ll complement you, but not an excessive amount. I promise.”
Lucas sighed and nodded in resignation. "Alright, alright… I'll try my best to not malfunction, but no promises…"
“Mm, at least try. But if you can’t, I won’t blame you.” Melissa hummed with a soft smile. “Love you.”
"Love you too, Mel…" He kissed her softly and checked his phone. "We should probably head out soon."
“Yeah… probably.” Melissa mumbled, snuggling up closer to him. “But I don’t want to.”
"Me either, but if we're going shopping before heading back to your house, we do need to allot some time for that."
Sighing softly, she nodded before burying her face in his chest. “Fineeee….” She whined, pressing a soft kiss to his cheek. “Let’s get going.”
Lucas nodded and carefully climbed out of the tree, leading Melissa the whole way. He hopped down onto the ground and held up his hands to help Melissa.
Melissa smiles down at him, taking his hands to climb back to the ground. “I feel like Rapunzel, climbing down from her tower.” She hummed once her feet were on the solid ground.
