"We'd constantly be surrounded by water though. That doesn't seem quite fair for you." She pointed out, pressing her lips to his cheek. "But I mean if you're willing."
"We'd constantly be surrounded by water though. That doesn't seem quite fair for you." She pointed out, pressing her lips to his cheek. "But I mean if you're willing."
Lucas shrugged. "I could learn how to swim better. It's not all that big a deal, to be honest."
"Well, I mean we'd be far away from our current mess of a life." She chirped turning her gaze back on the water fall.
"Mhmm. And Hawaii is rumored to be quite a pleasant place, no?" Lucas dragged his fingers through the water with a soft hum.
"Yeah… as long as we stay off the tourist districts." She mumbled, sighing softly at the pretty waterfall. "But we'll make sure to move somewhere quiet."
Lucas nodded. "God, somewhere quiet would be nice… we'd have to come back to visit here every once in a while, though."
"Of course. We've both got family here." Melissa smiled at his proposal, reaching over to run her fingers through his hair. "And friends."
"Mostly friends on my side, but I see your point." Lucas kissed Melissa softly, clearly enjoying the petting.
Pulling back just a bit, Melissa smiled softly. "You've still got a dad. Even if he was horrible to you."
"True. I'll still have to visit him at some point… they told me where they took him, so we can go any time. Not today, though. I want today to be fun."
"Nope, not today." She smiled, wrapping her arms around his waist. "Because today you are mine, and we're not going there today." Melissa hummed, holding onto him.
Lucas blushed a bit and nodded, letting Melissa pull him as close as she wanted to. He nodded in agreement, not quite sure what to say.
"Though, I seriously doubted you'd want to see him before you even said anything. You had said something about waiting a bit." Melissa mumbled, nuzzling into his arms.
"Yeah…" Lucas sighed and hugged Melissa tightly. "I don't know if I'm ready to face him again just yet… It'll take me a while to build up the nerve."
"And you have a lot of time to do that. I'll come with you too," She hummed with a soft smile, relaxing while he held on to her tightly.
Lucas nodded. "Thanks, Mel… it means a lot. It's gonna be really hard to see him again, even if he's behind glass or bars or whatever…"
"I'm sure it'll be ten times harder seeing him behind bars." Melissa told him, resting her chin on his shoulder. "But you'll have to go at some point. It's the only way to get over your fears."
Lucas sighed and nodded again. "Yep… I don't know how long he's going to be in there, but definitely long enough for us to turn eighteen and get out of here."
"Exactly. And as long as we're careful who we talk about around him, he won't know where we went." She told him softly, looking up into his blue eyes.
"Mhmm…" Lucas buried his face in Melissa's shoulder, sighing shakily. "I feel like I'm doing something wrong for some reason… going behind my dad's back to avoid him and all, even if it's valid…"
"It's because he got to you, and guilt tripped you into thinking that it was bad." Melissa whispered softly, rubbing circles into his back. "Of course, it isn't a good thing, but in this case it is."
Lucas nodded. "I… I shouldn't feel so guilty for trying to get out of an abusive man's reach, should I? I mean… he's still my dad, after all, and I still love him even if he's a shit person…"
"No, you shouldn't. But you can't just bury a feeling like that." Melissa hummed, running her fingers through his hair. "It takes time to lose, and eventually you will."
"Mmmm… thanks, Mel…" Lucas melted into Melissa's touch with another soft sigh. "When do you think I should go?"
"A couple of weeks, at least. Let him sober up, and cool off. It gives you time to build nerve." Melissa hummed watching him relax into her touch. "But soon enough, that it's not months getting antsy."
"Alright… thanks, Melissa." He relaxed a bit more, his eyes closed by now. The sound of the waterfall was calming to him.
She smiled softly, continuing to run her fingers through his hair slowly. “Sure thing. Though I don’t think I did much.”
"You've done a lot more than you think, Mel…" Lucas was just putty in Melissa's hands by now.
Cupping both his cheeks, she pressed a soft kiss to his forehead with a smile. "Guess I'll have to trust you." Melissa whispered, as she pulled back.
"Noooooo… don't leave…" Lucas whined softly, hugging Melissa again to pull her close against himself.
