"Dunno." Tying it in place, she gave him a friendly smile. "We've got the world to explore. But I mean, we could go deeper into the woods. Maybe there will be some kind of waterfall."
"Dunno." Tying it in place, she gave him a friendly smile. "We've got the world to explore. But I mean, we could go deeper into the woods. Maybe there will be some kind of waterfall."
"Ooh, maybe. I'd say we could practice swimming, but I don't have a swimsuit." He hummed thoughtfully. "Maybe I should buy one while we're out…"
"As long as it isn't incredibly expensive, I'll buy it for you." She hummed yanking off the sweatshirt she had been wearing, revealing a simple navy blue t-shirt. "Though I don't think I'm going to bring a swim suit, so you'll be on your own."
"I've got some money on me, Mel. You don't need to buy anything for me…" Lucas fidgeted nervously.
"Oh come on, I want to. Don't stress about it." Melissa hummed with a sweet smile. "I don't mind it in the slightest. I want to help."
"I-I know, but still… I feel bad for you having to pay for things for me, Mel…" Lucas murmured, blushing a bit.
"I don't have to, I'm insisting to." She continued to try and reason, lacing her fingers together. "And eventually you're going to let me."
Lucas whined softly and looked away. "But I just feel so guilty, Mel…"
"If you really don't want me to, I won't." Melissa whispered, tilting his chin up so he was looking at her. "But if you'll let me, I'd love to help."
"I-I mean, I can pay for it myself, and I really don't want to inconvenience you, Mel…" Lucas sighed softly.
"Inconvenience? How would you inconvenience me?" Melissa asked softly, her gaze falling on his lips when he spoke.
"W-Well, you'd have to pay for me and stuff… and neither of us has a whole lot of money, and I really don't want you to have to waste yours on me…"
"It wouldn't be wasting it, it's a useful thing to have. Especially if we know we're going to the beach tomorrow." Melissa chirped, pecking his lips quickly. "I don't mind."
"Don't you need a swimsuit too, though?" Lucas asked, blushing when Melissa kissed him. "Clothes aren't cheap."
"I've got one. I got it back at the beginning of the summer." Melissa hummed, giving him a soft smile. "So don't worry."
Lucas sighed. "I just… I still feel bad… are you sure?"
"100% sure, Lu." Melissa hummed softly, turning back to grab her wallet. "Can you grab the med-kit?"
Lucas hesitated and relented, going to pick up the med kit. No matter what Melissa said, he was still going to feel horrible about her buying things for him.
"Thank you!" She called out, checking her wallet to make sure she had cash. Once assured, she tucked it in her pocket along with her phone. Off she went to follow after Lucas.
Once they were outside again, Lucas took Melissa's hand and walked off with her. "We should probably go shopping after adventuring so we don't have to carry anything around."
"True… that's the smartest option." She nodded, stopping in her tracks. "We should go that direction then, we'll end up on the closest path to the woods." Gesturing off towards the right, she mapped out their route mentally.
"Alright. I'll let you lead the way, then." Lucas let Melissa take the lead as they walked along.
Laughing softly, Melissa turned pulling him along. “Alright, this way!” She chirped, pressing her lips together.
"Alrighty! Yeah, adventure!" Lucas grinned and let Melissa drag him along.
Grinning just the same, Melissa picked up her pace to the point she was sprinting down the side walk. "Let me know if I'm running too fast."
"I'll be alright, Mel." Lucas could run faster than Melissa because of baseball anyways. He was also pretty sure he could keep it up for longer.
of course she knew he’d be fine, it was just a force of habit. “It should be right around the corner, once we make it to the end of this street.”
"Alrighty." Lucas kept running along at Melissa's side, still grinning brightly even if he was getting a little bit winded after a while.
Slowing her pace, she beamed as they came up to the park. "Here we are!" She chirped, taking a moment to catch her breath.
"Woooo…" Lucas paused with her, looking around as he drew in deep breaths. "Let me know when you're ready to keep going."
