"Really??" Lucas seemed genuinely surprised. "God, I'm dense, aren't I…?" He sighed and buried his face in Melissa's shoulder. "How do you know?"
"Really??" Lucas seemed genuinely surprised. "God, I'm dense, aren't I…?" He sighed and buried his face in Melissa's shoulder. "How do you know?"
"I'm a girl. Normally girls share this kind of stuff with each other. I'm the only odd one that hasn't." Melissa laughed lightly, resting her head on his. "Don't worry about it, it's just a crush."
"I'm so stupid…" He whined. "Apparently girls have been tailing me and fawning over me or something and I had no fuckin clue…"
“Oh come on, you are not stupid. You just didn’t see it.” Melissa hummed, pulling his arms tighter around her waist. “I haven’t seen any guys fawning over me, yet I’ve been told some do.”
Lucas shrugged. "I mean, I was fawning over you in a way." He kept his face hidden. "But I don't have to do that anymore."
"I mean, you can still fawn over me~" She cooed softly, running her thumb over the back of his hand. "It's just a way of showing affection."
"Mm… I suppose I can if you want me to." Lucas smiled and kissed Melissa softly.
Smiling into the kiss, she pulled back just slightly. "I was joking, but I won't turn my nose up at that." Melissa smirked wrapping her arms around his neck.
Lucas smiled softly and kissed her again, pulling her close. "I love you, Melissa…" He purred, seeming relaxed and comfortable now.
"I love you too," Melissa whispered burying her face in his shoulder. "A lot more than you can imagine, I'm sure…"
"Mm…" Lucas rested his head against Melissa's. "We should probably go soon, Mel…"
"Yeah… but I don't wanna…" Melissa moaned, holding onto him tighter. "Can't we just stay here forever?"
"I know… I don't want to leave either." Lucas sighed softly. "I wish we could stay forever, but we can't unfortunately."
"Why not?~" She whined again, loosening her hold. "It's better here. We don't have to worry about anything. School, taking care of ourselves, drama, friends. It's just us."
"I know, Mel… but your parents would come looking and us not being at school would be suspicious. Maybe when we're out of high school we can live here."
"Mmm…" With a heavy sigh, she pulled back out of his arms with a frown. "Fine… but I want to hold your hand until we get back."
"I'm happy to oblige you." Lucas smiled softly and climbed out of the tree carefully before holding up his hands to help Melissa.
Smiling brightly, she climbed down with his help sliding her arms around his neck in a soft hug. "Very rarely are we going to be able to do this once school starts."
"Mm… not if we visit here often enough." Lucas grinned and kissed Melissa sweetly before he laced his fingers with hers.
To keep from laughing, she but on her lip with a soft smile. “I like that idea, it involves getting to do two things I like.”
"What are those two things, hmm?" Lucas asked, still smiling softly as he led Melissa out of the forest.
“One, coming here.” She whispered, leaning in closer to him. “Two, getting to spend time with you.”
"Mm." Lucas blushed again and pressed a gentle kiss to Melissa's cheek. "I'm glad you like spending time with me. I rather enjoy your company as well."
“Why wouldn’t I enjoy your company?” She asked him softly, bumping his arm with her own. “You’re a fun person to hang out with.”
Lucas blushed a bit more and looked away, shrugging and still gently smiling. "I… I don't know. I just don't think of myself as a 'fun' person. I'm just anxious and a mess all the time, honestly."
“Well I disagree. I think you’re a pretty awesome guy.” She hummed, giving his hand a gentle squeeze. “And it’s my opinion, so you can’t disagree.”
Lucas whined playfully. "Well, I think you're a hell of a lot more awesome than I am, and it's my opinion, so you can't disagree."
Letting out a huff, her shoulders slumped just slightly. “That’s not fair…” She groaned pouring just slightly.
Lucas laughed and kept pulling her along. "Your words, not mine darling."
"My point, you used my words." Melissa continued to pout, resting her head on his shoulder. "You can't use my words on me. It's not fair."
