(Well- now he's thinking about his house… that backfired, really, really quickly.)
"No, you're good. I had a feeling that was the case." Melissa smiled at him sweetly, standing up to her full height. "I know it's a bit early for this, but do you like anything to dip them in? We've got something in fridge, I'm sure of it."
(Nahhhh he's fine lol)
"Um… just like, ketchup, I guess? I'll eat pretty much anything." Lucas shrugged, just focusiing on the task at hand so he wouldn't spiral away into oblivion.
(Ahah, the poor boy doesn't need to think about that lol)
"Alright, that sounds good to me." Melissa replied brushing her arm against him when she turned to walk away. An idea had formed in the back of her head, so she went to check the fridge for both the ketchup and something else. "Oh cool, we do have it." She hummed, grabbing ketchup and two juice boxes from the fridge.
(Yeeeeep)
"Nice." Lucas finished meticulously placing the chicken nuggets on the tray and examined his handiwork. "Does this look okay, Mel?"
"Looks perfect." She hummed, setting the contents in her hands on the table. When she had, the oven beeped to alert them it was heated. "We can go ahead an put them in, how long are we suppose to cook them for?" She inquired, glancing over to the box as she came up to him.
"Um…" Lucas picked up the box and read over the back of it. "It says 25-30 minutes." He slid the tray over to Melissa.
Nodding, she did the mental math speaking in a mumble. "Then we'll do 15, check them, and do another 15." Happy with her plan, she slid the tray off the top carefully, and set it in the hot oven. "How's that sound?"
"Sure. Sounds fine to me." Lucas watched her place the tray in the oven curiously. "What do you wanna do until it's time to check?" He asked.
Shutting the oven, she pressed in the numbers 1 and 5, before turning to look at him. "Not sure, I'm down for whatever." She smiled, taking a gentle hold of his arm.
"Well, we already played Life… although we never finished." Lucas hummed softly, looking over at the living room. "We could finish that?"
“Sounds like a plan.” She smiled, taking his hand in both of hers to pull him along into the living room. “Who’s turn was it?”
"Yours, I think." Lucas sat down on the couch and examined the state of the board. "Yeah, I just went."
Humming with a soft smile, she sat beside him. "Alright, then I'll go." She said softly, spinning the wheel in the center.
They played until the oven timer went off. They still hadn't quite finished, but Lucas was close to the end. "Mm… we gotta check that now, don't we?" He sighed.
"I can go check it, you don't have to get up." Melissa laughed lightly, standing in her place. "Take your turn, I'll be back." Walking off, she glanced over her shoulder. "Don't cheat."
"I won't!" Lucas spun the wheel and went the number of spaces he was allowed. He was no cheater, anyways.
Pulling the tray out of the oven, she quickly turned them over making sure they were hot as she did. In two minutes, she had already put the tray back in the oven, and was off to the living room. "My turn?"
"Mhmm. I'm pretty close to the end now." Lucas leaned back on the couch and watched Melissa take her turn.
"I can see that, and I bet you're gonna win." She laughed lightly, moving her piece up a couple of spaces. "But there's still a small chance I could win."
"Mm… I guess. Do I win by getting to the end first?" Lucas asked. "It's been a long time since I've played this."
"I… I think so." She mumbled, pulling the instructions out of the box. "We've probably been playing wrong the entire time."
"Yeah, probably. What does it say?" Lucas asked curiously, looking at the instructions over Melissa's shoulder.
"Have the highest value at the end of the game and win…" She mumbled to herself, looking up to him. "You have to have the most money at the end, basically." Melissa showed him, tapping the words on the instructions.
"Do I have a lot of money??" Lucas asked, looking at the game pieces in front of himself. "Maybe??"
Laughing softly, she looked between the two small stacks of money. "I don't know who has more. We'll just figure it out at the end, when we count it out." She hummed.
Lucas nodded and spun the wheel again when Melissa finished her turn, crossing over to the finish with this turn.
"Alright, I think we count out the money." She hummed, beginning to quickly add up the money she swiftly placed on the table.
"Er… Alright." Lucas counted up his money carefully and sorted it out on the table. "I think I won?? You should check, though."
"How much do you have?" She asked him, taking his pile, and counting through it. "5…6…7.." She mumbled, listening to him when he spoke.
"A lot more than I have in real life." Lucas watched her count curiously, starting to put away other things on the board.
