Lucas shook his head. "No, Mel… I'm fine. Just a tad overwhelmed." He smiled softly and entwined his fingers with Melissa's.
Lucas shook his head. "No, Mel… I'm fine. Just a tad overwhelmed." He smiled softly and entwined his fingers with Melissa's.
"You're sure?" She asked once more, pulling his arm over her shoulders as she rested her head on his chest. "Because if I really did bother you, just say the word and I won't do it again."
"Yeah, I'm sure… I just don't do well with excessive compliments." Lucas laughed weakly, pulling her closer.
Giggling softly, she lifted her head to meet his gaze. "I'll just be careful next time." She smiled up at him.
Lucas returned the smile, able to hide his true feelings surprisingly well. I need to tell her someday… just not today.
"Wanna head inside? We can find something to do in there." Melissa hummed, pulling back from his arms. "Or we could go out." She offered, scooping up his sketchbook.
Yes, let's please go out. "Yeah, we can head back in… is there anything you have in mind?" He asked.
(XDD I didn't even realize-)
Shrugging, she shook her head no. "I didn't really have anything in mind, just hanging around. We can do whatever." She hummed, holding out the sketchbook to him.
(Lmao)
Lucas took it and held it close to his chest protectively. "Anything is okay with me. Maybe a board game or something?"
"Sounds fun." She chirped, beginning to descend down the ladder. "We have all sorts of games, you can take your pick."
"Uh… whatever it is, you'll probably have to explain it to me." He admitted. "It's been a very long time since I've played a board game."
Once on the ground, she nodded softly. "I'll gladly explain whatever you pick. It's up to you what you want though."
"Can you show me where you keep them?" Lucas asked, putting his sketchbook back in his bag.
“Mhmm! They’re in a closet up here.” She chirped, walking over to the door frame and leaning against it. Hip cocked out, she crossed her arms loosely over her chest.
"Alright, lead the way, Mel." Lucas walked up and stood in front of her, waiting patiently for her to take the lead.
Pushing off the door, she took his hand and led him over to the closet. “They’re up there somewhere…” She mumbled, standing on her toes to pull out the boxes.
Lucas helped her out, being a bit taller than her. He set the boxes on the ground and sat beside them, examining them curiously. "Do you have any favorites?"
Shaking her head, she took a couple of the boxes from the floor to scan over them. “I’ve always liked The Game Of Life though.” She hummed, pulling it from the stack.
"Alright, we'll play that, then." Lucas pushed the other games aside and opened the Life box. "What color car do you want?"
Glancing into the box, she picked up the white one. "I'll have white, if you're alright with that." Humming with a smile, she tucked back a loose strand of her wavy hair.
"Alright, I'll do blue, then." Lucas grabbed the blue car and stuck a blue peg in it. "I'll go to college. You?"
"Career path for me." She hummed, picking up the small pink peg, and lifting her face to meet his. "Where do we want to play? I don't think you want to hold the box the whole time." Laughing, Melissa took the box from him.
"Um… anywhere is fine with me. Maybe the coffee table so we can sit on the couch?" He suggested.
"Works with me!" She chirped, skipping along down the stairs. "Come on, Lu!"
Lucas followed her, though more carefully so he wouldn't fall down the stairs, and settled himself down on the couch.
Setting the game board on the table, she set the box down by their feet before looking up to him. "Who goes first? You or me?" She asked, setting her game piece on the board.
"Um… I think we spin the wheel and whoever has a higher number goes first." Lucas spun the wheel, which landed on a three.
"Oh, yeah I forgot that." She laughed lightly, spinning after him, landing on a five. "If you want to go first, you can."
"I really don't care, Mel. You can go ahead." Lucas leaned back a bit to watch Melissa play.
“Alright fine,” She hummed, spinning the wheel once more so she could move her piece. Landing on an eight, she picked up her piece and mentally counted the spaces.
