Yeah, that works! And seeing as how the island formed, perhaps there's a giant mountain range in the middle of it that stretches the length of it?

Oooh, that sounds cool! So this place is pretty big then. Also I was thinking, they won't have any natural access to groundwater. so they have to rely on the rain, seems like, which means their island had better be somewhere that gets a lot of rain. Like over a rainforest, maybe, or near Ireland?? Unless there's a wy for them to easily get water some other way I can't think of.
(I have to head back to work for my afternoon shift, seeya later)
(Aight cya)
Well, I did a lil bit of research and I was thinking, what if we over exaggerated the amount of rain fall they would need? there's a small village in india called Māwsynrām and it gets the most rainfall in the entire world
Oh interesting! Maybe that's where the island was created originally, but a lot of people traveled from around the world to live there over time?
Ahhhh I forgot about how the island was created while I was typing that out aha. But yes, I like your thinking! Perhaps somehow it became a popular spot for tourists?
That could be! Or maybe this is far enough in the future that even isolated areas like that have become fairly populated.
So I guess we can count the problem of water supply as solved, then? Also, how far up is the island floating, do you think? At least high enough that no one else can reach it, but still inhabitable, right? It occurred to me that the people of Altuan will have to adjust to living much higher above sea level than pretty much anywhere else in the world. Unless they have tech that pressurizes the air in their homes (like for airplane cabins) and maybe special suits or masks for going outside? What do you think?
I do think that having the occupants of this floating island slowly over time have adjusted to the higher pressure would be interesting.
Yeah, I agree. So how advanced is their civilization, by the way? Do they have skyscrapers and computers etc,, or nah? What kind of transportation do they use? we already decided everything was sun or wind-powered, so I guess that limits us somewhat.
Hm, well I guess since this is somewhat futuristic I guess it's a bit more advanced than us? Perhaps since they've had so much more trouble getting started and whatnot with their limited options. And for transportation, we could probably just rely on things like bikes and whatnot.
Makes sense. Ooooh also what about gliders or some other motorless aircraft? Maybe that's how people navigate the mountains quickly?
Ooooo yeah I forgot about those! Yesss that would make sense!
Sweet! ^^
So what else is on our list of things to figure out? Seems like we're on a roll hehe
Sorry…. I've just been quite busy, and haven't really had much time for things like rping, and world building.
So, while I'm just trying to think of stuff that we still need to figure out, uh… we could figure out what kind of religions are practised?
No problem! Religion sounds fun! Do we want to make like one man religion and then some other smaller ones? And should they be totally new, or based off pre-existing religions? (If the latter, seems like Hinduism would make sense based on their location, and I know some stuff about that one, but I'm good with whatever you want)
Hm, we could do one main religion, and other smaller ones, yeah! And since these are people who may or may not have practiced religion, I feel like they should probably be based off of pre-existing religions, yeah.
Sounds good! Does something Hiduism-inspired seem okay/possible to you then, for the main religion? They have a ton of deities and incarnations of said deities and heroes and wise people and demons and stories and lessons and etc. etc., so there's a lot of potential material to work with xD
Yeah! That sounds exciting, to be honest! ^^
Seems like you know a whole lot more than I do about Hinduism, so do you have any ideas?
lol well, my mom has been studying it for years and she tells me stuff. Maybe for our religion, we could have a trio of major gods, and then a bunch of lesser deities below them? And maybe one of the core beliefs of the religion is the idea of reincarnation and karma (or something similar)? So basically the deeds you do in this life can affect your next life, and ultimately you're trying to escape the reincarnation cycle and go to 'heaven' for all eternity. And also the idea that god is within all of us and we can all achieve enlightenment through the right practices etc. How does all that sound?
(Oh, and the main trio of gods are all different aspects of one single supreme god, if that makes sense? Kind of like the Holy Trinity in Christianity, but you can dedicate your whole life to worshiping and following one of the three if you want)
Yeah, I really like that idea!
Cool! So, if that's the main religion…any ideas for some smaller religions we could include as well?
Hmm, so you know how Lutheranism broke off from Catholicism and that's how it came to be?
Maybe some of these smaller religions could be slight variations of this Hinduism-inspired religion?
That's a cool idea! Maybe some of them only believe in specific gods, or disagree with the philosophy of the main religion somehow, stuff like that?
Thanks! And yeah, sounds good!
Aright! (I gtg for a bit, back later!)
Cool cool! and that's okii! I'll be going in a bit and won't be back for a couple hours so cya then!
Okay, later! ^^
Apologies, kinda forgot about this for a bit aha
I'll try to be more active though
It's fine! I've been busy too hehe ^^;
Haha okay then
