Okay, cool. Where on earth do you prefer? If this is in the future, probably a lot of old cultures are gone or way different, so I feel like we could place this utopia pretty much anywhere habitable.

Hm, well I was thinking it was similar to Earth, but it was inaccessible by normal humans, so they don't really know too much about each other.

Okay, maybe we need to figure out this utopia's origin story then. Who lives there, how did they get there, ect.

Perhaps… forgive me if this doesn't make much sense, this is an idea I just got, but what if something happened with gravity or something and with like a really strong earthquake or something similar the land got pushed up and when the thing (sorry that's not helpful at all but i have no idea) happened to the gravity the land just broke off from the main crust of Earth but the gravity is just light enough to keep the land trapped in the gravity of the planet

Hold up, you mean like the land is floating?? That would be so coooooool! Also how much of the land are we talking? Like all of earth's land or just some?

Yeah! And only some aha. Just enough so that it's possible to have a whole civilization up on the "island in the sky".

Crazy idea: Maybe the thing that messed with gravity and caused the earthquakes was a giant magnetic comet or meteor that passed really close to the earth and messed with its magnetic field or something? Idk how that relates to gravity but it feels right somehow xDD Pseudo-science ftw haha

Sure! We could probably just throw this whole thing into an alternate universe where all the exact sciences don't have to be correct lol

But that works! Yeah, and maybe that was an event that eventually made it into the history books, so we might want to give it a name? I was thinking maybe Andromeda (although that's a bit long), Maia, or Lyra, but I'm open to suggestions!

I think you're right that Andromeda's a bit long, but I'm cool with either of the other two, whichever one you want ^^ Maybe the event was called "The Day of blank" or the "blank Calamity" or something?

I looked up synonyms for comet, since meteor doesn't seem to flow quite right.

So, to recap: Meteoroid Maia flew too close to earth one day, messed up everything, and created a floating island. Humanity decided to roll with it and build a shining utopia on the island, isolating themselves from the rest of the world (maybe?) and developing their own culture there. And they called it…..what? I don't think we decided yet.

Nah, we haven't quite gotten to that yet. Do you have any ideas?

Askai
Altuan
Hylenn
Rovana
Sorul
Any of those grab you, or give you ideas for other names?

I feel like some variation of "Altuan" or Sorul would work, how about you?

So I was thinking, how technologically advanced is Altuan? And how does it power its tech? They're on a floating island, so it seems like they have to be pretty careful how they spend their resources. Maybe they're wind-powered and/or solar-powered?
