Killian answered after a few rings. "Yeah?" He asked.
Killian answered after a few rings. "Yeah?" He asked.
”I’m sorry to bother you so late, I just have some information that I think you should know.” Jade explained.
"It's fine." Killian yawned softly. "What is it?" He asked.
”It's your dad.” she said. ”Someone broke him out of jail.”
Killian was silent for a long, long moment. "…oh."
Jade sighed. ”I just thought you should know.” she said apologetically.
"Yeah." his voice was quiet, far more subdued than she had ever heard from him before. "Thanks, Jade."
”I’m sorry.” She said matching his tone. Jade may have never been hurt the way he had but she felt terrible for telling him about this… but he needed to know. ”Some of the gangs have started teaming up, even a few rivals. They’re the ones who got him out.”
"I knew about that, just not…about him." he swallowed, sitting down.
Jade nodded. ”I’m really sorry… If you need any help, I’m here for you.” she told him. ”I’d like to… I want to help you.”
"I don't think there's anything you can do." Killian's grip on the phone had turned white-knuckled.
”Please.” Jade almost begged softly. ”D-don’t be stubborn. I know he hurt you. You don't have to deal with him alone.”
Killian closed his eyes.
”Please.” Jade whispered. ”I don't want him to hurt you. I can help you.” she assured him.
"He doesn't know where I live anymore. I moved."
”That’s good.” Jade gave a faint smile. ”Y-you… Uhhh… Promise me you won't go after him?” she asked.
"Yeah. Fine. I promise."
”Thanks.” Jade smiled, hoping he meant it. That he wouldn't go after him for revenge.
"Yeah." he said softly.
Jade sighed a little. ”Do… Would you like me to come over?” she asked.
"I…" Killian bit his lip. "I don't know."
Jade nodded. ”I just thought you could use some friendly company right now.” she explained.
He sighed softly. "Yeah, you can come over if you want."
”Ok. I just don't want you to be alone right now.” she told him. ”I can be there soon.”
"Alright." he hesitated for a moment. "Thank you."
Jade’s soft smile turned more sincere. ”You’re welcome. I’ll head over now.” she told him, walking over to her bike.
"Alright. See you." he hung up.
Jade put away her phone as he hung up and started her bike. She did still follow the traffic laws… Except for speed, she bent that rule a little.
Killian was sitting on his couch, staring blankly at the wall.
Jade soon parked in front of Killian’s home and all but ran up the front stairs to the door, knocking to let him know she was here.
