Killian smirked back at Jade. "Yes, but she's not very supportive of the way I do things." He replied.
Killian smirked back at Jade. "Yes, but she's not very supportive of the way I do things." He replied.
”Because you make my job so difficult.” Jade retorted.
Killian laughed again. "Mm. You're welcome." He replied.
Jade rolled her eyes and lightly punched his shoulder. ”Shut up.”
”So, when did you start dating?” Sophie smirked.
Killian blinked at the question, looking at Sophie. "Uhm. Never? We aren't?"
”No. We definitely are not dating.” Jade confirmed a little coldly, deliberately not looking at Killian.
”Mhmm.” Sophie replied skeptically, raising a brow and watching the two.
Killian glanced at her, confused by that coldness.
Sophie glanced at Killian, noticing his reaction. ”Don’t worry about it, handsome. She's more trying to convince herself than anyone else.”
”Shut up, Sophie.” Jade warned in the same tone. Why did I listen to her? I knew this would be awkward… Kinda hurts too. Why?
Killian shrugged. "Not worried." he replied.
Sophie's smile fell a little at hearing his reply, not completely believing him. Normally, she would definitely push for him to tell the truth but for now, she held back. ”If you say so.” she shrugged… Before brushing her foot against his shin.
Killian frowned at the brush, moving his leg away without saying a word about it.
Sophie likewise, didn't acknowledge him moving away but she did stop her little teasing. ”Do you like the pasta? Jade always makes the best sauce.”
Jade relaxed at the change of topic and actually had a small smile from the compliment. ”It’s not hard. It's a family recipe.”
Killian smiled. "Yeah, it's good." He said.
”I’m glad you like it.” Jade smiled looking back at him.
Sophie chuckled a little. ”I swear she could sell this stuff, not even the recipe, and we wouldn't have to worry about rent or anything.”
Killian chuckled. "Ah, but then how would she do her real job?"
Jade shook her head with a chuckle. ”It’s not going to happen anyway, so don't worry about it, Killian. You’ll still see me around.” she teased.
”She’s stubborn.” Sophie almost pouted, apparently getting this same response from her roommate before.
Killian laughed a little. "Then again, my job might be easier if she wasn't around to do hers…" He trailed off, smirking.
Jade scoffed at his smirk. ”Yeah, well, that's another reason why I'm not going to stop. Can't let you think you can get away with everything.” she smirked.
Sophie raised her brow in surprise at the banter but didn't interrupt. Something told her that this was going to get good.
Killian rolled his eyes. "I'm sure someone else would take over, though." He replied. "They just wouldn't know me so well."
Jade shrugged. ”Maybe someone else would but because I know you so well makes me the most qualified to deal with you. Wouldn't you agree?” she smiled.
Killian sighed softly. "Eh. Perhaps so."
”Sounds like I win again.” Jade smirked.
Killian rolled his eyes. "Ugh. Maybe." He replied, shaking his head a little.
Jade chuckled at his tone but gave him a friendly smile.
Sensing that the two were done with their little… well, Sophie wasn't really sure what to call that but it was over for now. ”You guys do that a lot?” she asked smiling.
Killian blinked. "Do what?" He asked, raising his eyebrows curiously. He took another bite of food.
”That.” Sophie said, gesturing back and forth between the two, still unable to come up with the word for what she just witnessed.
Killian raised an eyebrow higher. "That what?" He asked slowly.
”That back and forth thing you just did. It was almost watching a fight or something but no one got hurt or insulted.” Sophie tried to explain.
”Our little banter.” Jade supplied with a chuckle.
Killian chuckled. "Yeah, what Jade said." He agreed.
Sophie gave a slightly exasperated groan. ”Yeah, whatever you wanna call it. You do that a lot? Cause it sounded like you do.”
Jade hummed with a small shrug. ”I never thought about it. It just happens sometimes.”
