Lucas whimpered quietly. "I… I can't… I can't be so pathetic that I can't even run a few laps around the gym…"
Lucas whimpered quietly. "I… I can't… I can't be so pathetic that I can't even run a few laps around the gym…"
“You’re not pathetic. A lot of people get tired it’s not just you. People who don’t play sports will get tired including you. I can tell most of these people are tired and are going to start tripping over their feet.”
"I am pathetic… I… I-I can't even really breathe…" Lucas coughed, stumbling again. He was starting to see stars and was inadvertently slowing down.
(Bump)
(Sorry I thought I answered this!)
"I'm taking you to the bench," he sighed picking up Lucas and putting him over his shoulder. He ran him to the bench and sat him down. "Don't call yourself pathic because you are the toughest person I know." Nick whispered to his ear, "And I for one think it's very sexy~"
(No problem!)
"H-Hey!" Lucas clung tightly to Nick when he was picked up, not wanting to fall. He was pouting by the time Nick set him down, but he immediately flushed red at Nick's last comment.
"Here's some water. Drink up," he threw water to him, hoping he would catch it.
Lucas managed to catch the bottle, though he nearly dropped it. After a few seconds of nervous hesitation, he tentatively opened the bottle and took a sip.
"Alright, I'm going to continue my laps. Don't get up to run until you feel like you can," he got up and started to run his laps again.
"Alright…" Lucas kept sipping the water, the flush in his cheeks lingering for a while. He didn't end up getting back up, as he figured Nick wouldn't want him to based on how he felt.
Once Nick was done he picked up the water from next to Lucas.
"Alright! Nick and Dylan pick the people you want on your team. Flip a coin to see you gets to pick first! Dodgeball people," the teacher yelled.
Nick walked over and called heads. The coin landed on heads and Nick screamed, "Yes!"
Lucas jumped at the sudden noise, unsure why Nick was so excited. He stood in a line with everyone else, looking nervous and clearly not wanting to be there.
"Lucas," Nick said as he looked at him.
Lucas looked up, confused. He hesitated for a few seconds before making his way over to Nick, standing quite close to the other. Dylan shook his head and scoffed again, knowing exactly why Nick chose Lucas. Lucas was terrible at dodgeball, so there really wasn't any other reason. He picked someone else who was probably a far wiser choice.
"Will," Dylan picked. They each started to call out names and Nick had the best team. "Be careful alright Lucas?"
Lucas nodded, stepping back and picking up a ball to hold on to and inevitably give to someone else when they needed it. He could also use it to protect himself.
Once the game started Nick was dodging left and right, catching balls and hitting them back to people. He also protected Lucas.
Lucas flinched and held his dodgeball in front of his face whenever a ball approached him. After a while of cowering behind Nick, he decided that he wanted to be helpful, so he stepped out from behind Nick, aimed towards someone, and threw the ball as hard as he could. Miraculously, he managed to hit them.
"Nice job Lukey," Nick hit a couple more people and Dylan was the only one left. "This is going to be fun," he cracked his knuckles walking back.
Dylan aimed a ball and threw it hard towards Nick. It missed, but it hit Lucas in the face, causing him to stagger. "Dylan! No head shots!" The coach yelled.
"Lucas are you okay?!" Nick bent down to Lucas.
"I'm fine, I'm fine! Just keep going! Don't let him win!" Lucas stepped back, keeping one hand over his face so Nick couldn't see. He felt a bit of blood touch his fingers.
"We'll see the nurse right after I'm done okay," Nick kissed his hand before hopping back on the court. He caught a ball the Dylan trough and his it right back to him as it hit him in the stomach. He looked over to Lucas. "Come on!"
Lucas sighed and let Nick drag him along by his free hand. By the time they reached the nurse, blood had completely stained his palm.
"Nurse!" he knocked on the door waiting for her to open. "My boyfriend needs help!"
She opened up the door and ushered them inside. "Why does it always seem to be you, Lucas?" She sighed, handing him a tissue. "I'm sorry, ma'am…" He replied softly. She sighed again. "Don't apologize, hon. I know you don't mean to."
"I'm glad your here. He'll be alright right?" Nick relaxed sitting on the bed.
The nurse nodded. "His nose isn't broken. Once he stops bleeding, you're good to go." Lucas nodded as well, sitting quietly where he was.
“That’s good. Sorry the ball hit your face,” Nick kissed his forehead.
Lucas blushed a bit, looking away. "It's fine, love…" He said softly, his voice muffled through the tissues and blood.
