Lucas hesitated before settling on a simple nod. He didn't know Jake well enough to really go into the details.
Lucas hesitated before settling on a simple nod. He didn't know Jake well enough to really go into the details.
"How about something else?" Jake smiled.
"Uh… he's teaching me how to cook, I guess?" Lucas shrugged, keeping his eyes fixed on the ground. "I can't make much yet, though…"
"What can you make so far?" Jake asked swinging his hands as they walked.
"I can make toast?" Lucas thought for a few seconds. He really hadn't learned much yet. "Eggs? Sandwiches?"
Jake laughed softly. "Well, I would call that an accomplishment from what I can make. The only thing is instant ramen. The best thing that ever happens to me." Jake stopped in front of Lucas and pulled his chin up. "Don't look down all the time. It's alright to look up and smile."
Lucas looked up at Jake weakly. "With all due respect, Jake, I'm not much in the smiling mood at the moment. A whole lot of shit has happened recently."
"Yeah, I know, but at least look up. That much isn't hard right? Besides looking down is bad for your health. That aside we're here!" Jake smiled running to the swings.
Lucas sighed and followed Jake, hesitating before sitting on one of the swings. He didn't swing or anything. He just sort of sat there.
"I would take you to go see Nick, but there has to be a problem if your here and not with him. So, what else is there to do. We could go out to eat, maybe watch a movie or something like that, but are you sure you don't want to be at school right now. I'm pretty sure you don't want me to talk all the time," he chuckled.
"Nick's in a coma, and I'm quite sure I'm not in a state to handle school at the moment." Lucas kept his eyes fixed on the ground. "I really don't much care what we do…"
"You just want to see Nick…" Jack chuckled. "But I guess I'll take you to go see him since it's kinda all you want to do. Even though they want you at school."
"Thanks, Jake." Lucas finally looked up a bit and glanced over at Jake. He still looked rather weak and pitiful, to be honest, but there was a small glimmer of hope in his now-dull blue eyes.
"You lightened up, come on let's go," Jake stood up and started walking to the school to get his car. "You might want to call whoever was going to pick you up."
"Uh… I don't have a phone or his number." Lucas followed Jake back to the school. "That's… probably problematic."
"Well, then we'll just have to get you back at school before 3 then yeah?" Jake smiled. "It's lunchtime right now, so we have a couple hours."
Lucas nodded. "Sounds good… what year are you, by the way? I don't remember seeing you around before."
"Oh, I'm a Sophmore. I'm also a transfer student," Jack scratched his. "You?"
"I'm a Sophomore too… and that makes sense. You may not have seen me around before I met Nick, though. I'm… not the most outgoing person."
"I figured. Nick has never loved someone or cared about them as he does with you. I knew him from kindergarten and then I had to move…" he bit his lip.
"Mm…" Lucas looked at the floor again, feeling almost a little guilty. "I… I think he's helping me feel more comfortable… with myself." He said slowly. "I'm… uh… I'm not exactly used to feeling loved…"
"He has that effect on people. I'm glad you're opening up to him, it's good for you," Jack kept walking soon reaching the street where he parked his car.
Lucas smiled weakly. "Y-Yeah…" He got into the passenger side of the car once they arrived at it. "He's… he's pretty great…"
Jack drove Lucas to the hospital and parked. "Here we are," he sighed getting out of the car and locking it once Lucas got out of the car. "Do you know what room he's in?"
"Mhmm." Lucas led Jake inside the hospital and walked upstairs to Nick's room. He went in and saw Nick laying on the cot, still unconscious. He paused in his tracks, sighing shakily.
"It's alright," Jack rubbed the side of Lucas's arm and walked with him to the bed. He sat down in a chair next to nick and smiled. "Hey, Nick."
Lucas hopped up onto the bed and sat beside Nick, taking one of his hands in his own. It was really hard for him to see Nick like this, and that was pretty clear. He's just sleeping… he's just sleeping for a long time… stupid lazy ass, wake up! I need you!
(AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW that was soooo cute!)
"Just breathe. Not hyperventilate, but breathe," Jack looked over to Nick and kissed his forehead before getting up. "I'm going to get something to eat do you want anything?"
(Lol)
Lucas watched Jake get up, not quite liking how he kissed Nick's forehead. Lucas shook his head and decided to just let it go for now. "No, I'm okay."
"Awesome, I'll be back. When Jake left a nurse came in. The same one from this morning.
"Aren't you and your friend jake supposed to be in school?" she asked, taking Nick's arm to give him a shot. "Look away."
