After making sure the rest of his students made it, Edward put down the chair and started up the ladder after them. It creaked as he got on, but that was the least of his worries. One of the creatures grabbed for his foot, but he gave it a solid kick in the head and made his way on up afterwards. His phone started vibrating.
"Poe, we're on the roof," he panted, "Are you… is everything okay?"

@Becfromthedead group

(I like the idea that some of these kids call Mr. Moore by his first name, and that he maybe even encourages it. First day: Swivels around in desk chair "Skip the formalities and just call me Edward.")

Horace huffs. "Yeah, I know, but what happens when the supply runs out? It won't last forever."
He makes his way over to the window and opens it, peering around.
"There's people on the roof!"

(So I'm thinking all the people on the roof make it and the rest of the school dies? Should all of Horace's class get out or only a few?)

Lynde paused for a second.
"Wait… so you mean to say there are like… hordes of people out there?"
Her eyes flickered to the door and back.
"Yikes… Here's hoping they can't climb after us…"

@Becfromthedead group

"Relative? What's that supposed to mean?" Edward muttered, tightening his grip around the phone.
"You… you… you're going to live, aren't you?"
He kept an eye on all of his students, counting off the individuals again. Everyone was there still. Shaken, but there.

"Fuck this shit, I'm getting out of her." Some boy from behind Horace mumbles, crawling out the window and beginning to scale carefully up the wall as the moaning from behind the door gets louder.
"Anyone else?" Horace asks.
Another boy helps two girls out and Dakota nods, letting Horace help her out after the boy.
Horace carefully climbs out the window to help Dakota climb.
The door begins to suffer under the weight and the rest of the students panic, all making a mad dash for the windows.
Horace curses under his breath and quickly helps Dakota up to the edge, where a few of the students from Mr. Moore's class pull them up.
Bee and Maria watch sadly as a few students are pushed out of the way and end up falling to the ground below.
Only half-a-minute after Horace and Dakota made it to the roof, they can hear the door from their classroom bangs open.

Mr. Poe poked his head out of the janitor's closet. He looked down the hall and saw the door to Edward's classroom broken open. He didn't hear any screams so he narrowed it down to three options. 1)They were all evacuated. 2) They were already dead. 3) They managed to kill their pursuers(highly unlikely)

"I said we're on the roof… We're fine. All of my kids made it out," Edward sighed, "I just… where's my daughter?"
He was shaking a bit and scanned the rooftop. She wasn't there.

Lynde wasn't close enough to the window to make it out with the other kids. She was closer to the supply closet when the door burst open and she shut herself in, panting.
What… what are those?!
She looked around. No windows. That's right… light might have a bad reaction with some of the chemicals in storage, so no windows. Lynde cursed under her breath, but then she had an idea. She picked up a stool and placed it on one of the tables, then pushed up one of the boards in the ceiling so she could climb up into the space above. She tried her best not to think about being in the company of rats and spiders. It was better than whatever she might face down there, though.
She pulled out her phone and sent a text to her father:
Dad, are you okay?

@Becfromthedead group

Edward lifted his phone up. Lynde.
Yes, we're on the roof.
Can I call you, dad?
Yes
"Hold on, Poe. My daughter's trying to call. Lynde?"
"Dad… dad, oh my god… I'm trapped… I'm in the ceiling of one of the chemical storage closets. It was the only way I could get away… They haven't broken in yet, but I'm so afraid…"
"Hold tight, pumpkin. I'll make sure someone can get to you, even if it isn't me," he promised, "Keep me updated."
"What's going on?" Lynde asked, her voice going to a soft whimper.
"I don't know, but it'll be okay."
"Will it?"
After a few seconds of silence, Edward sighed. "I'll make sure you're okay. I love you. Stay safe. Don't do anything I wouldn't. I'll see you soon."
"I… I love you too…"
Edward hung up and switched back to Mr. Poe's line. He placed his phone in his pocket and helped up a few kids who were coming from the chemistry lab.

Mr. Poe sighed deeply. He had no clue what to do. He was just sitting there in the janitor's closet after using his students as a sacrifice. He felt guilty, but he knew that there was no time for that. He set his phone down gently beside him and began a small panic session. Something he hadn't done in a while.

@Chameleon the Slytherpuff and Slitherpuff

"Holy shit, look at them." A kid whispered in horror as the creatures all began to leave the school, having eaten everyone inside, they began to move almost in unison to find more people to eat.
"They can't get us up here." Horace breathes out a sigh of relief. "They gave up."

@StarkSpangledMayflower_Mad_Elder

Rowan looked over the side of the roof and his eyes popped out. "What the hell is going on?" He muttered. He backed away from the edge and came towards the other kids who were surrounding the teachers. A couple kids were on there phones, some were live streaming thr situation while others were calling 911.

@Becfromthedead group

(LMAO they would be livestreaming this)
Edward sighed in relief.
"Okay, everyone stay where you are, and don't go back inside. There may still be stragglers," he said.
Wait a few minutes, Lynde. We think they're going away.

Lynde didn't respond. She was curled up in the ceiling, shaking and trying not to cry.

Edward looked to the chemistry students on the roof. He recognized them as such because many of them still had on their lab goggles, gloves, and aprons.
"Hey, was my kid with you? Lynde Moore?" he asked.
He wasn't sure what kind of answer he would get, but it was worth asking. Maybe they didn't even know her.

@Chameleon the Slytherpuff and Slitherpuff

"Ahh, yeah." A tall boy with glasses says. "She insulted our intelligence right before a few of us were eaten by monsters or fell to our deaths. No biggie."
"Eddie!" Horace hisses and smacks his shoulders. "Now is not the time!"
A few cameras look over to them, videoing everything.
"Hey, stop doing that!" One of the older kids orders. "Preserve your batteries, have none of you ever seen a zombie movie?"
"Are you implying that those were zombies?" A kid asks incredulously.
"Well they sure ain't my grandma!" Another kid shouts.
Bee grabs Maria's arm and slowly pulls her away. With this many chaotic Gen Zs on one roof, a fight was bound to break out.

@Becfromthedead group

"Alright, we actually need to settle down," Edward said, "I'm pretty sure you already noticed so it doesn't need repeating, but we are facing very real danger here, so it's not exactly time for playing around."
Edward was relieved, though. He knew exactly where Lynde was.
(I love these kids so much omg)
