Hearing the lockdown noise, Maria quickly stands, grabbing Bee's arm as the two move over to the corner of the classroom with their classmates.
"It's just a drill, right?" Maria asks as they kneel on the ground, and Bee notices Mr. Moore's concerned look.
"I don't think they had one planned." She whispers.
(I'm just going to out Rowan 8n the same class as Maria and bee if that's ok?)
Horace groaned as he was forced to put his test tube down. He was just about to finish his science project.
"What the hell is going on?" Dakota, a blonde girl on the cheerleading team complains under her breath. Sometimes Horace wondered how a girl so bitchy could be smart enough to get into the AP science classes.
(Sorry I've been off and on again, I have DID and one of my alters has been doing things. They'll be leaving at six as well.)
Rowan groaned at the soren that sounded and closed the many notebooks open on his desk. Each book was for something different, doodling, ideas, rough drafts, and final drafts. He put them.in his bag and looked at the group of students, looking at the teacher who, like the students, seemed to be panicking
Edward put down his marker and ran up to the door. He locked it and turned, pointing a finger out to mentally count everyone in the class.
He hadn’t been informed of a drill, but he didn’t want to say anything until he knew for sure what was going on.
Meanwhile, Lynde was caught out in the hall. She was just in the bathroom. When the lockdown announcement came, she ran to the nearest classroom, which was the chemistry lab and rushed in before the teacher could lock the door.
“What, are they conducting a drug search or something?” she asked.
Mr. Poe was very frustrated at the sudden lockdown. "Ugh, I swear, the next time there's a lockdown, it will be because I'm shooting up this bloody school." His students stared at him, slightly worried. He waved his hands dismissively. "Not really, I'm just upset," he assured them. "Now sit in the corner and be very quiet," he instructed. As the students were huddling into the corner, he began counting. He noted one missing.
"I swear if this is some stupid joke the freshman-" Bee is suddenly cut off by the sound of something big thumping against the door.
A loud groan is barely heard with the sirens still blaring, and whatever was outside the classroom began clawing at the door.
"Holy shit." Some kid whispers.
“It’s alright kids,” Edward soothed, “I’ll figure out what’s going on. Just go back in the corner of the classroom, hide, and be quiet.”
He scanned the classroom for anything he could use for defense, but all there really was were a few pairs of scissors, a stapler, and a yardstick. He hoped nothing serious was wrong, but it was unusual for him not to get word of what was happening.
Edward moved to his desk and opened up his email. Nothing yet. He frowned and helped corral his students into the back corner.
"What is going on?" Maria asks Edward, staring over at the door. The alarm suddenly cuts off, and a piercing scream rockets through the intercom before it goes dead, making all the students cover their ears.
Edward’s Brow was furrowed. He pushed a couple of the desks forwards to block the door.
“I don’t know, just… just stay hidden. We might be under threat.”
His first thought was shooting, but he hadn’t heard any gunshots. He’d always been afraid it would happen here too.
Rowan heard the scream and looked at the door in a panic. "We should block the doors. I hear sounds in the hallway." He said in a shaky voice
At the sound of the scream, Horace immediately shot to his feet, and his classmates quickly pull him back down.
"Who was that?" He hisses a question to the students, "What's going on?"
In Maria and Bee's classroom, a few students got on their phones to check the news.
"Ohh my god, what the fuck?" One boy asks, staring at his screen. "The testing animals for the AIDs virus escaped and started biting people!"
"The army is talking about releasing nukes!" Another one realizes.
"We're all going to die!"
At the sound of the scream, all of Mr.Poe's students began panicking. He tried his best to calm them down and get them quiet, but a bang at the classroom door did it for him. He opened a drawer of his desk and pulled out his machete. He always kept it with him in case of an emergency. He slowly approached the door and heard what seemed to be groaning. He thought to push it off as some sick senior prank, but it seemed all to serious for that. He quickly turned away from the door and picked up the phone of his classroom. He called Mr. Moore's classroom.
"No, no," Edward replied softly, "There's got to be some other explanation for-"
The phone rang.
"Now who…? Hello?"
He wedged the phone under his chin.
"Now's not a great time."
Lynde sat towards the back corner of the classroom.
"What the hell…?" she whispered.
She watched the door anxiously. No gunshots… what could be going on?
"What do you mean 'not a great time'? What the hell is even going on!?" He looked at the door in worry. It appeared as if it would fall at any moment. His students grew more worried with each passing second. He thought it obvious that their intruders had no intention of letting up any time soon.
Slowly, cracks began appearing in the door. Students screamed and some even started crying.
"Edward, they, whatever they are, are breaking the door! What in the world am I supposed to do?!"
Edward’s eyes widened.
“Breaking down the door?! By god, I don’t know! Prepare to beat the ever loving shit out of whoever it is, I suppose?”
He paused for a moment.
“Lynde… is my daughter there?”
Edward quickly looked for a way out. They were second floor, so the window wasn’t an optimal option, but he wasn’t sure there was another way. There was a textbook closet to the side as well, but he wasn’t quite sure what good tha would do either.
"Lynde…no. Last I know, she left for the restroom." He looked at the students for a moment and then turned his attention back to the door.
"Edward. . .I don't think I'll be able to keep all of these students alive," he whispered into the phone. He immediately felt guilty for even saying it.
Edward took a deep breath, trying to deal with the fact that his daughter had been out. Oh god, what if she had been hurt or worse? But she was a bright girl… maybe she found a way out.
“All we can do is try,” he replied, “And if anything happens… anything at all… it’s not your fault.”
Mr. Poe put on a calm front and hung up the phone. He turned around and noticed all of his students looking at him in worry.
"Don't worry," he said, hiding his panic remarkably well, "I'll get us out of this." He walked over to the door and peered through the cracks of the door. His eyes widened in shock. The figures in front of him were notably murderous and acted inhumanly. He attempted deep breathing but to no avail.
He turned back to his students, twirling his machete within his skinny hand. "Whatever happens," he looked at each one of them in turn, "I'm sorry."
"We have to get out through the windows." Horace decides, standing and grabbing two of the people near him's hands, pulling them up as well. "We'll climb up to the roof and see if we can spot anything that can help from up there."
Bee and a few other classmate scream as the door groans under the weight of the…things…outside.
"Ohh my god, the door!"
"The roof?!" Lynde hissed, "We'll just end up getting trapped on the roof, if anything. This is a chem lab, for god's sake. Plenty of weapons to be found here, aren't there?"
"You're not even in this class!" One kid exclaims.
"Well, what happens if we're teenagers and don't know how to use weapons against a threat? What do you want me to do, make a bomb?" Horace asks.
Edward ran to push a few more desks towards the door, even if to bide just a little time. He pointed at the book storage closet. There was a window in there, maybe the students could figure out how to get out from there.
He picked up a chair, ready to swing it at anyone who might try to come in and harm his kids.
Lynde frowned. "Wow, you're AP students and my upperclassmen, you must be soooo much wiser than I am. Seriously? Bunsen burners, acid, various things that can cause bodily harm. There's a reason you have to wear gloves in lab, yeah? We are in one of the optimal spots to be during an attack and you want us cornered on the roof?"
Lynde started to walk towards the storeroom. "And solid sodium? Throw that stuff in water? Instant bomb."
Rowan went to the windows and looked at the rest of his classmates, "we could jump out couldn't we?" He asked
Mr. Poe swung open his classroom door and stood behind it. A swarm of murderous animals piled in, attacking each student. Mr. Poe took this opportunity to run for his life and hide in a nearby janitor's closet. He slammed the door shut and curled up against the wall. He prayed that at least one student would survive that onslaught of beasts. He then took out his personal phone and called Edward once again.
Maria and Bee race over to it, opening up the window and peering outside as the door creaked and groaned.
"There's an escape ladder!" Bee shouts with excitement, "We'll have to climb up to the roof, those things are all over the ground!"
Bee and Maria both help the rush of their classmates out the window, and just as Bee was getting Maria and herself out, the door burst open.
"Hurry Edward!" Bee calls as Maria begins the frantic climb to join the rest of her classmates.
Bee crawls out the window and jumps to the escape ladder, hoping her favorite teacher wasn't far behind.
